Yeah, I know it's an option, it's just that GCN suddenly being available is pretty tempting. Was kinda looking forward to everybody having to relearn things on the new controllers, and to Sakurai maybe developing his game to be optimized for something that didn't come out in 2001.

Any insight into how the competitors were picked? There's some, er, notable exceptions here, even though it's a killer line-up of Smashers.

Oh man that gcn adapter looks fantastic! Will buy day one. Would also love to get that smash logo controller they showed. GameCube controller was always one of my favorite designs. It was always a perfectly awkward fit in my hands that felt soo right.

I think the Smash logo implies they're going to be making new GC controllers, though that makes me wonder why they didn't just make them work though the usb ports instead of making an adapter that plugs into the usb ports.
I assume for latency. 1 for each pair of controllers?
How long have you known this?

I wonder if this is a special adapter just for Smash or the Gamecube controller now will actually be supported as a Pro Controller for other games. It makes me kind of annoyed actually. Why not have made the Pro Controller an upgraded Gamecube controller in the first place?
If they make new Gamecube controllers, then I think this adapter might be more than just for Smash.

I bet one is latency and other one is power charge.
It could be a similar case for external HDD where one is meant for power while the other is the USB connector. In any case, it should be fine as the 4 USB ports should be good enough for the adapter and external HDD for most people

I really want Smash to move on, but hey what can I say? There is nothing wrong with the controller and people love it. I'm glad the option is there. Most importantly though for tourny goers this is the wired controller they were waiting for.
I still have my white, silver Cube controllers which are in fantastic condition and a Wave Bird that is in good condition. I have 2 classic controller pros as well so I am absolutely covered for Smash. I will be getting one of these new Smash controllers for the heck of it though. Hope they give us a Spice Orange. Oh and hopefully they are made more sensible this time around. Remember all the deflated B buttons and crap at GCN launch?
I'm going to force myself to get used to the diamond layout. Luckily the 3DS version comes out first so it's completely mandatory.
