I know, but is there's an inside joke I'm not getting.
Did you miss the whole Doritosgate thing?

Exhibition doesn't create buzz; they're showing how fun the game can be for everyone and items and lots of action are the bread and butter for Smash. They should have done an exhibition instead of a tournament. A tournament makes no sense with these rules.
Ok, don't take this the wrong way - but this coming from you, I lol'd.let's not

I don't really get why he has to host this
he is never excited about Nintendo
I really hope the final doesn't wind up being Fox vs. Marth. Holy shit would that be boring.
I'm honestly feeling kind of pessimistic that he'll be chosen. Last I checked, he was mid-tier at best, so not too common in tournament play (please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't watch much competitive Smash and would rather not spread misinformation). As such, the guys would probably flock to characters they know have been good in past games, or the new characters that look like they'd be friggin' beasts (as you'd mentioned, it's almost a given somebody's gonna claim Mega Man and Little Mac).I seriously hope someone plays as Sonic. I want to see what changes he's had along with possible alternate costumes.

He will be when they pay him to be.
It was related to the really odd and kind of sickening promotion for Halo 4 with Mountain Dew/Doritos where Keighly seemed to lose a lot of respect and integrity as a journalist.
Sticking with my wii u pro controller.
Even if a character isn't picked for the tournament, they'll probably be playable on the E3 floor, so we'll see them in action no matter what.
Diddy, Ike, Yoshi, Sheik, Lucario, Toon Link, Peach, Luigi, King Dedede, Charizard
The excluded chars, for those interested.

*Grand Finals is a 4-stock, 8-minute, 1-on-1 match on Battlefield as an homage to the competitive Smash Bros. community.

that fan vote thing is BShttp://e3.nintendo.com/invitational/info.html

At least they acknowledge that the whole thing isn't true to smash bros community form... and that a smash bros community exists
After a character is chosen, they are no longer selectable by any other player
Seems that they really do mean draft pick. Neat. Good way to diversify the roster and show off the game more.
This is definitely going to be a FUN tournament, and not a serious one, which is fine.
Depending on the price of the adapter, I probably will too, but it's nice to know my spare Gamecube controllers could get some use again.
I'm not sure I'd be able to resist a special edition Smash Gamecube controller though...
Why?that fan vote thing is BS
Also a serious competitive tourney CAN be fun you know

They have a pretty limited amount of time. I can't think of another way to settle ties without a rematch and that will cause the whole thing to run over.
thissudden death?
You can forgive me for assuming when he said "fun" he meant the basic definition of it. Im guessing he meant Smash "FUN" then in reference to the Smash Online thing? And also: Not the type of fun he's talking about.
sudden death?
I don't like dealing with wires in my living room. I love wireless
I really hope the final doesn't wind up being Fox vs. Marth. Holy shit would that be boring.
Two players move on to the next round:
- 1 by Highest Score (Kills minus Falls)
- 1 decided by Fan Vote (the decibel level of the fans will decide a tied vote)
My three mains...... Cmon Nintendo. Still hyped though.
ken to get to grand finals confirmed
I always find it's a tradeoff - do you go for wired controllers and have to deal with tangled wires but unlimited extended use, or do you go for wireless controllers and have to deal with taking out rechargeable batteries a lot of the time/charging with a wire (which negates the whole wireless idea anyway).

okay
So now we need a GC -> 3DS adapter.
How can we make this happen?
