I really wanted it to succeed, bought day 1. Unfortunately it lagged behind the 360/PS3. I believe that it wouldn't set an industry standard even if it had been the leading console - tech wasn't there yet. I feel like its success would delay the Switch by a full gen.

Wii-U was a Switch but tethered to a console.

In a way, yes it was, but it was only a minor feature of the Wii U. The main point of the tablet of the Wii U was as a secondary display, not as a portable primary one.

It's a real shame that for the Switch 2 that they didn't include a specialised Wi-Fi chip for low latency second screen play. The technology exists and is cheap.
