Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

So, Ness and Lucas haven't been announced yet have they?
Do you guys think that I have slim chance of having either announced for Smash at this point?

I'd like to see Lucas available with a Ness costume (or vice-versa).

I'm sure one if not both will be in this game, probably one unlocked from the start and the other hidden. If there is only one lucas would be cut and maybe Ness is unlockable again.

Clearly both will be unlockable. With the lead character from Mother 4 available from the start. BELIEVE.

Sakurai including characters from fan games would be a true sign that he's scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

Regardless of the status of their franchises, I really can't imagine one of the original 12 being cut.

Ness was included in that marker board drawing Sakurai did around when the new Smash started development. I doubt he's going anywhere. I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas doesn't return, but I figured Ike would be cut in favor of Chrom.

I mean, Ike still got cut. But in a good way.

I find it really interesting that the pictures they use in the bottom screen Display is the artwork from the smashbros.com character reveals but just zoomed in.

That was the case for Brawl too

Oh really? Huh, guess I just never paid that much attention. That actually makes me a bit more excited for character reveals just to see the artwork they are going to use in game for the character select screen and the HUD.

On another note, I can finally join all of Europe in playing Mario Kart!

Pic of the day. Here's a first look at the bottom-screen display for the Nintendo 3DS. Your name will appear in the area above the accumulated damage. And if you tap one of the fighter displays…!

…You can highlight that fighter on your screen. This is useful when you want to get back at a particular opponent. You can also highlight yourself if you need to keep better track of where you are. This is a great benefit to having your own individual screen.
Pretty cool feature I have to say. My 3DS is ready to be melted.

I just realized that next week is the last week of PoTD before E3.

I am excite.

Edit: Apparently Heath and I are on the same wavelength.

Official thread for the last MLG Qualifier here

It's a big one, looooooots of players there. Doesn't start until tomorrow but I decided to make the thread today.

Next week will be nothing. Maybe a new item. But I'm not expecting much since they'll reveal a bunch at E3.

Just this week it looks like they revealed a handful of things that may occur/happen/be seen at E3 that needed explaining.

If anything I'd say we may get a few more of those. Blue shell, WFT soccer ball move, maybe items not shown yet that will appear. I could see some more assists showing up to deconfirm playable characters next week.

Or even Ridley as stage hazard if that stage is an option and he's not playable.

It's zoomed out by the looks of it too

And footage we got of the game has the camera a lot closer to the characters

Yup. I'm 100% sure the game will look absolutely viewable on both 3DS models.

No issue at all. I still can play if it was this zoomed out, and as you was saying, it's closer in videos we've seen too.

Hey guys, in the extra pic of the day Link is showing his back, wasn't this removed(it had a picture of the day saying characters will be always facing forward)?

We're thinking atm this only applies to 'mirror' symmetrical characters. Link uses different hands for shield/sword so he may be exempt from automatic mirroring

Only some characters are mirrored. Those that are inherently asymmetrical (like Link and Samus) are not mirrored.

That looks like it is going to be hype.

You're not going to be able to judge it properly till you can get your hands on it and play it and it is in motion. Coming to a conclusion based on looking at a screen is not going to determine whether it is playable or not.

Also, compared to Brawl, it is only slightly zoomed out.

Nah, Link won't be mirrored because of the way he holds his sword.

To think almost a year has passed since reveal. I remember the starting up of this thread. I've been here since day one, many remember my overly excessive whinging of lack of 3DS coverage, until they finally began to shit it out. :P

I'm really excited. Within the next 2-3 months, we'll be playing the newest Smash Brothers!

I'm expecting E3 bombs:

1) 2-3 newcomers (Palutena for at least one!) (Maybe a secret newcomer?)
2) Some veterans (Expecting many to be secret)
3) Confirmation of all the 3DS modes and maybe Wii U modes
4) Wii U exclusive mode revealed
5) All stages to be revealed for 3DS
6) 3DS release date and box art :P

What else shall we expect?

Seems reasonable! Thank you.

TBH I'm more hyped for the 3DS version than the WiiU simply by the fact that I can play from work, I can play from everywhere.

I bet will be one of those guys who's really god on 3DS and suck lots on WiiU :(

Double post. Well, you seem to also forget there are also hundreds of other screenshots out there which still look great.

Also, viewing the 3DS footage on the 3DS, even with the chunky XL borders they use for videos still present easy-to-see gameplay. Now remove those video borders and it'll look just fine.

I'm not basing my conclusion on a single screenshot. I'm basing it from countless screenshots and video.

I agree with the newcomers and veterans, I'm expecting at least 5 characters at e3.
Agreed with the WiiU exclusive mode.
And I'd like to dream that we will be playing the 3DS version circa july/early august.

One can deram.

Isn't there a larger resolution of Zelda's Bizarre Legend?

Also I really hope E3 has more to Smash than just the exhibition tourney. No character announcements and stuff?

Nintendo at e3: "And right after this show, you can go and immediately buy Smash Bros. 4 3DS at your local stores."

:(

Reality: "We're sorry to announce that the 3DS version will not release in the summer as originally intended. Players can join in the fight on Dec. 3rd, 2014. Details on the Wii U version will be shared at a later date. But here's a newcomer!"
