Remembering Ryan Davis, 1979 - 2013

I've been listening to all the old bombcasts lately and it sure made me realize how much I miss the guy. He was a lot of fun to listen to. RIP.

Ryan was the secret sauce that made the bombcast diversions what they are. Drew being in there and Jeff making his own recipe work is fine, but it's not the same.

Different flavors. End of an era, beginning of a new one. Hope it all turns out well.

Damn but I wish I'd heard his take on Next Gen, he was exactly the sort of guy who would lay the 'no nonsense or bullshit' hammer on all the spin that goes on in the early days.

After seeing this thread bumped I'm going to drink a finger of good whisky in honor of Ryan. Still miss listening & watching him on a weekly basis. :(

I just still can't accept we will NEVER have another piece of Ryan content. Not a quick look, not a bombcast, not a cameo, not a GOTY list, nothing. I was looking at the list on GB called funniest quick looks and he's in like 90% of them. He just had a great sense of humour. I miss that dude. :(

merry xmas Ryan. just reading the thread title made my stomache sink. ive dealt with family loss a lot in the last few years, having those kinds of feelings towards someone i never met, or knew on a personal level is crazy. pouring one out for you and yours on xmas day. much love

My best wishes go out to his widow Anna.

It seems like it's been really rough on her.

For what it's worth, I watched Die Hard with my GF and it totally is a Christmas movie regardless of is she agrees or not.

I was watching some of those "Best of Giant Bomb" videos on YouTube during a break at work, and I always get a lump in my throat when I suddenly hear Ryan chatting and laughing about something - especially the Harry Potter quick look, and that Kinect sports game with the horse racing.

But yeah, we really need to close this topic.

I like to think Ryan wouldn't want a bunch of people sitting around being bummed out on his account. Have a beer, spend time with your friends and family and play some video games today.

Once again, in remembrance... :( Goodbye, my man.

At the end of the year we once again remember those we have lost throughout. It is suitable for this thread to rise again.

We are closing in on a million views, too.

I didn't read/follow Giant Bomb, but I saw this thread, and checked it out, and saw that Davis passed away on July 3rd, at age 34.

My birthday is July 3rd, and I turned 34 that day. Pretty crazy coincidence.

It's always a shame when someone dies so young. I don't know who Ryan Davis is, but stuff like this always makes me sad.

Well I guess it's as good a time as any, you should all tweet out a merry christmas to @enemynanner keep Ryans wifes spirits up. She's a really nice lady, yeah her account is locked down on twitter because of some tools but I'm sure she'd really appreciate some christmas love from people across the world.

<3

Man this thread title shocks me every time I see it for some reason. I mean, I know he died but my brain kinda forgets for a split second while it processes the text. :(

edit-
wait did I just needlessly bump this a day later, saw it on my subs and mistook it for the normal first page of Gaming, real sorry

Sorry for bumping this thread, but this will be the first time with no Ryan Davis at E3.

He was the life of those Daily E3 after hours streams they did. Those shows were one of the highlights of E3 for me and had been tuning in since 2011/2012. I'm not big on podcasts or streams so that was the only time I would sit down and watch them. A lot of good shit man.

Gonna be something different this year. It's gonna be weird not seeing Ryan there. R.I.P.

Almost a year since his passing :(

Damn straight. Its going to be sad watching those without the big guy.

Also sad because this is the last major event we saw him in before his passing. That's going to be a sad anniversary. I hope the GB guys do something small and tasteful (or huge and ridiculous in Ryan's style) to commemorate him. Maybe make an annual event out of it, Ryan Davis day, and do some charity stream/event?

It's amazing how someone I never met, meant so much to me. His opinion mattered to me. His death still bothers me, and while typing this, I still get watery eyes thinking about how much I miss his wit and laugh.

This is the first E3 without him, and it's already noticeable to me. I hope the GB crew will be ok.

I wish I could have run into him at E3 last year. I ran into Patrick though. Really cool guy.

My heart actually skipped a beat when I saw the thread title again after so long.

But this is a respectful bump as far as I'm concerned. First E3 without Davis. Damn...

Will keep missing this dude, and gaming on in his honor.
