Fighting Games Weekly | June 2-8 | The Final Kountdown

steam edition change already had a major negative effect.

IM ranked B with my character. ME!

If anything the steam change made it harder to get a decent rank. Now the high level players will search for lower skilled players because a lot of people choose to reset their stats, making it harder for them to find similarly skilled players. This also means that all those high level players who reset their stats will now run into you instead of other high level players as they regain their pp.

how does the ps3 thing work? never heard of it before
I'm assuming $3 is for a phantom slot. If so that means you can download the game once. It'll work fine, but you're not able to log back into the account if you ever need to reinstall it. (IE if your hard drive crashes)

do you just have a folder for kanye gifs

I'll probably be like a few hours late to the Ultra fest. Can't get a ride to GS to buy a PSN card and for some fucking reason Family Dollar doesn't sell PSN cards. :l

Really thinking on walking to this other gas station and see if they sell $20 cards. :c

Buy it on amazon, they email you the key.

If you have PayPal or something, I can sell you a $20 PSN card for $18.

My heart says that $15 would be wasted on a version I'd only play for one day until the 360 version releases.

I'mma go waste this on shitty fast food instead.

If you don't already have a copy of the game, then yes.

13+15 and whatever tax for the copy of Super.

I forgot my AE copy back at my place when I moved for the summer and it's a 80-90 minute drive both ways so I was like fuck that and just bought a used copy from game stop

Moment it drops on PC is the moment I ditch my PS3 version.

Assuming PC version gets fixed, which I think it will, but never 100%, it is Capcpom after all.

And TFC missed another deadline for hotel and pre-reg- they're really dropping the ball.

You crazy? I love that controller.

Also, still can't wait for USF4, I'm too hype ;_;
Try using it extensively. My thumb isn't one big callous, but it probably will be after my time with this shit. Face buttons are too stiff and prominent on the pad casing. It digs into your skin unlike other buttons that lay more flat and are softer to press.

Yeah I'm having the same dilemma. But it's not one day, is it? I thought it was like a 12 hour difference. I was really hoping the 360 version would be out by the time I got off work at 3 am, but I don't think that's happening. Kinda sucks since they usually update the marketplace right around that time. I remember coming home from work and AE being right there ready for me.

I have for Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2

That feeling when you go out to eat and the worker at the register and 2 waitresses hit on you the entire time you are eating.

Oh is Ultra out yet btw?

I think one of the biggest things that fighting games need to get right isn't even combo things, really. It's movement. One of the best things about Smash is how freeform and just natural the movement is. Great movement is what quickly sold me on KOF13 and later on games like GG. Good movement is what leaves me preferring 3S over SF4, and being tempted to try out Vsav.

EDIT: The problem is, few games combine an aesthetic that actually appeals to normal people with nice-feeling movement. There's a lot of airdashers and the like, but they seem to insist on really niche art direction which just kills them from the get go.

I agree with this. So many fighting games hamstring themselves before they even come out with very questionable art style choices. Even when the art style is done well, there are still many more hurdles to clear- movement (like you said), animating well, having acceptable netcode, etc... it's tough to make it all come together.

This art style argument is kind of irritating me. Why should these developers abandon their primary market to chase an audience that has never shown to accept their games at a mass market level? You're basically asking Japanese FG developers to do what the big Japanese publishers did this generation... and we all know how well that ended up. (And even then, the biggest hurdle is to make a good game -- which covers all of your other points. :p )

Frankly, in this day and age I don't think it's possible to make a 2D-based game that doesn't smack of being a budget release, regardless of what the art style is.

I clicked the link hoping he wasn't a Chizuru player, but Tamaki works I guess.
He plays grapplers... and then he plays a game with one of the best grapplers I have ever seen in my life. I don't see why you expected anything else. :p

What does this mean? What are the results? What recent game doesn't have an art style or aesthetic that doesn't get shit on?
