Origin having a go at Steam?

Oh wow, didn't know DS3 scored so badly. That's hilarious, and well deserved considered what they turned the series into

That's the DLC

EDIT: To their credit, Mirror's Edge and Bullet Storm are part of the sale, though both have been cheaper before.

Wow. I was never able to finish the main game. The game got real repetitive and stale halfway with the constant horde fights.

that's the dlc, the main game did a little better, but they're not promoting the main game as a game i'll play

You shouldn't miss out on Dead Space 3, stump. It's everything you ever wanted from the series. We all knew that the one thing it was missing was a cover system, coop, daylight terrestrial environments and enemies that shoot guns at you. Not to mention the gripping story about how the Markers exist as a trojan horse to try and psychicially compell whole civilizations into getting sucked into a giant flesh-moon for some reason.

So I installed origin for the first time the other day to get access to Bf3.

I had a browse through the store and thought - "wow, I really am not the target demographic for EA". Not a single game appealed to me. I only downloaded Bf3 to see what all the fuss is about (and it was free), but honestly there's not a single franchise that EA has that is interesting (to me) in the slightest.

For me AAA (as defined by EA) is dead - perhaps it's a cultural thing, do EA make games that appeal more to the dudebro (US college kid) gamer? I much prefer the indie games available on steam to the AAA stuff on origin.

Oh and Bf3 was disappointing.

This will surely endear them to indie developers.

On a side note, who wants to total up how many indie games they've played in 2014 and how many EA games?

I did play Dead Space 3. It had a lot of falling off a crumbling cliff. About 20 hours worth. I just didn't buy the DLC, since it's not a "game I'll actually play"

Mass Effect 3 isn't "complete" right? Still gotta buy the DLCs separately?

Right. There is free dlc (multiplayer maps/items) but a lot of the dlc is extra. I guess this is how they try to entice you to pony up for the dlc. I haven't bought any.

Well this did remind me I have Syndicate on Origin and never played it. Would be a good hold over while waiting on Wolfenstein to get a bit cheaper.

Very tempted to buy Mass Effect 3. Still haven't played the third one. Does anyone know if it supports the Xbox 360 controller on PC?

Well it must've been too hard to implement. I mean it's not like the game released on the 360..

.......

I'm not buying it now out of spite.

Bulletstorm is on sale too.

You really have to play it now before the games for windows servers shut down in 4 weeks. Clever EA

Note: You can use Xliveless or a cracked exe to get around the GFWL.

That is the worst case scenario however, hopefully EA and Epic can come to a DRM-free agreement.

Upside, inside out he's livin la vida loca, He'll push and pull you down, livin la vida loca
The fact that FIFA 10 is the only one of the series on sale is both pretty sad and totally hilarious given the sale's name.

Steam sales "cheapen intellectual property" says EA Origin boss.

Q: One of the things that Steam does is this random deep-discounting of software, and it works well for them. Do you see that as something you want to do?

David DeMartini: We won't be doing that. Obviously they think it's the right thing to do after a certain amount of time. I just think it cheapens your intellectual property. I know both sides of it, I understand it. If you want to sell a whole bunch of units, that is certainly a way to do that, to sell a whole bunch of stuff at a low price. The gamemakers work incredibly hard to make this intellectual property, and we're not trying to be Target. We're trying to be Nordstrom. When I say that, I mean good value - we're trying to give you a fair price point, and occasionally there will be things that are on sale you could look for a discount, just don't look for 75 percent off going-out-of-business sales.
