The Avatar of Awakening would be such an interesting addition to SSM. Not only do I prefer him over Chrom, but the playstyle would be completely different than any other FE characters... I know it will never happen though.

Chrom's really the only one of the two that has a set design. Villagers got the most popular defaults, I don't know that there's a "default" Robin.

There sort of is. There are default male and female Robins. The male default was used in the game's demo, while the female default notably appeared in some of the game's merchandising and advertising. Both were the middle-sized, silver-haired Robins (male Robin has medium length hair, while the girl has pig-tails). These are their appearances if you set their appearance settings to the defaults in character customizations.
Was Brawl's online any better with a wired connection? Lol.

No, not at E3. IIRC Mario Kart 7 was, though. And they've done plenty of 3DS demos for E3.
It's their biggest 3DS release between E3 and Pokemon. It will be there.

A virtual boy appears and the mii puts it on. It makes it so that all other characters have to follow where the mii goes, and they can't attack it.

Hooded Robin is the default I guess.
Otherwise I guess it is the white-haired medium build in the Avatar's portrait on the Nintendo site.

If Robin is in I would expect hooded male and hooded female, along with white haired male and female and one more hair color for both genders. Icing on the cake would be a couple more variations.
Yeah, I don't deny that the 3DS version will be at E3, I just don't know whether they'll bother to put it on show floor. Maybe they didn't feel like making a demo for it (that's basically 2 demos they have to make - one for wii u one for 3ds). They could show it off backstage or at the roundtable. Sure, it's coming out soon, but the gameplay of a 4 player ffa battle will TECHNICALLY be the same as 3ds, albeit w/ different stages/UI.

Out of all the Awakening characters I want Chrom the most, followed closely by Anna because I am a hopeless fool in love with her design and personality.
I want chrom because he has the same voice actor as Leon Kennedy. No other reason.

Chrom doesn't bring much to the game. I want Robin for the sake of variety (in terms of moveset and specially design).
Ridley for newcomers, Mewtwo for veterans. Nothing can top Mega Man in the past E3, though.

The point of the hood is to disguise whether Robin's a male or a female though. I could see them having quite a few different hair colours for alts if they decide to go with non-hooded Robin.

It's nice to see some Robin love in here. Whenever people bring up Chrom being in the game I always thought that Robin would be a more interesting choice especially if you could pick which Robin you are.
It would be a cool option to put under the name feature. Saving your own personal Robin under your name just like your control config.

Honestly, at this point the biggest reaction is going to come from some unexpected 3rd party character. Most of the remaining Nintendo characters could have been guess at (and have been guessed at).
It's going to be someone that most of us have thought about as a passing what if scenario, and dismissed quickly for a number of reasons.

I'm being serious here, certain parts aren't there.
I want as little of that as possible in Smash Bros. Miis are okay since they've sort of become Nintendo's mascot over the last eight years, and I like Villager -- it represents the main character of one of Nintendo's best selling series -- but Robin isn't nearly as important to Nintendo as those two.

I don't like the idea of personalizing Robin either. They should stick with the silver/white-haired Robin as the only design. Of course, both genders should be present in Smash.
