Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

I'm going for the fully unrealistic goal of the game is getting released the Sunday of e3. Xbox did it, so can Nintendo.

Random Question: If we do end up getting another 3rd party character, who do you think would be the best choice to actually get the most new people playing? Meaning, people who weren't considering a Wii U now actually thinking of picking one up because ___ is in Smash Bros.

Obviously, Mega Man was a great 3rd Party character for that, as I know some people who really are mainly interested in Smash 4 because of his conclusion. But as for another one...I'd actually say Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series would pull in the most new fans. The Kingdom Hearts fanbase is crazy loyal and are already used to moving from console to console to follow the series (seriously, pick a console and stick to it).

While personally, my pick for an additional 3rd party would be Simon Belmont (or Geno, if he counts), but I'm curious who people think would actually be the best for growing the community.

I had a chance to play with a friend's 3DS XL yesterday and I checked some Smash screenshots out. Man is it fricking comfy as hell on a big ass screen! The awful pixel density ruins the quality though, so I'll be remaining with my OG until then.

If there IS a 3DS demo on the showfloor, can some people find out the following for me:

1) How is the 3D?
2) The controls
3) What does the 3DS UI look like
4) Is it comfortable to play
5) How are the physics? They seem identical to the Wii U game, so this may be a moot point.

You're crazy if you think the Gematsu leak characters (if they're even legit) are the only newcomers left. We already know of 30 characters and E3 is bound to reveal 2-3 more newcomers. I doubt there would only be 2-3 secret newcomers.

Most unlockable characters aren't really game sellers though. If you look at Brawl, the only completely original character left as an unlockable and popular with a big fanbase was Lucario. There's Toon Link too, but he was a Link clone. ROB was unique, but not exactly a fan favorite that would make people buy the game for him. The others were all returning characters. There's Wolf too, but he was pretty much an incomplete character, considering his recycled Final Smash that made no sense, and Star Fox wasn't exactly a popular series by then.

Even in Melee, yet again the only new, completely unique and popular character was Mewtwo, a Pokemon once again. Marth although popular in Japan, was an unknown worldwide. Mr. Game & Watch wasn't even a proper unique "character" before Smash. The other 8 hidden characters were just returning ones (Jiggly, Luigi) and the 6 clones.

So, it's very likely once again that the unlockable cast will be mostly composed by characters with little game selling power, clones and returning veterans.

wut

Wolf was pretty much "complete". He's essentially the Lucas of Fox.

Like I said, look at his Final Smash. It's not really based on anything from Star Fox, and it's only there to reuse the assets/programming of Fox's Landmaster. Considering how otherwise his moveset was completely redone from Fox's, I think that's a pretty big red flag.

Classes end December 19 this Fall, so a December 20 release date on Wii U would be ideal. Make it happen, Nintendo!
Four days before christmas? I would have vacation by then, but realistically Nintendo wouldn't send their arguably biggest game this holiday out to die like this.

Saturday can go straight to hell.

Sonic had a trailer and he's a vet. Then again, he's also 3rd party so it could've been an exception.

It almost certainly was. The only veteran to show up in a character trailer was Charizard, who himself was partially re-tooled and who led into Greninja's reveal.
