The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt - E3 2014 Trailer - The Sword Of Destiny

I have faith that CDPR can do better than that. If you only played TW2 once you missed a third of the game. The fact that some players might miss stuff doesn't seem to bother them too much.
Those choices are made at the very end of TW2 when they don't make a difference anymore, I think they were there to influence the events of the third game, otherwise they would be pretty damn pointless.

I'm not saying that they will have a significant impact on the main story, but reducing them to a single line of dialogue like bioware did would be pretty damn disappointing.

That's like exactly what they did going from W1 to W2. Siegfried got a few lines of dialogue and I think Yaevinn didn't even show up.

Not confirmed yet, but chances are you would. That's what they did with the previous ones.
...And it's something I complained about in the past:

"Dear CDPR, I'm really willing to give money directly to you, so why don't you try to make buying on Gog more appealing, offering a Steam key if we buy from your store, instead of doing the opposite and rewarding people who buy on Steam with a copy of your games on GoG?
It's like you guys are actively encouraging people to buy on Steam.

Signed,
Tuco"

Let's say I'm a developer. I put a game at 50€ in Steam. 70% of profit for me, 30% for Valve. So I win 35€ and Valve 15€. Now, I offer the game on my own website or service (say, Origin, Uplay, Gog, etc) for 40€ calling it a special offer, giving also Steam keys. I win more money that way and because my price is 10€ less than Steam and I'm still giving steam keys, everyone buys it from me directly and Valve win 0 euros, while they still have the bandwidth costs from people downloading the game whose profits were only to the developer...

So in other words, I don't think it's as easy as to say "hey give one million Steam keys!".

I have no idea what you're trying to say.

God almighty. What kind of witchery is this? This trailer just blew everything out of the water. That music. Them graphics.

There should be a new oscar category for games that are better than movies

Everyone make sure to order from GOG so that CDPR get a bigger cut vs Steam.

Not bigger cut. They take it all, no middle men. You invest in the future. Independet developer.

Steam would never provide free keys for ordering on GOG! As much as people love Valve it will never happen. Money, money, money fuck you give me money. They would have to charge GOG something and CDPR would loose money on every redeem key.

I don't think you know how it works atm. Games not sold on steam net Valve $0. That's just how it is. CDPR could easily offer free steam keys as they can generate them for free.

I know but things were different back then. Maybe I'm wrong but I think there will be a stronger connection between 2 and 3.
The characters in question are also much more relevant in the grand scheme of things.

It's not because "I want to have all games on Steam", it's because if I buy on Steam i can activate the game on both stores and if I buy on GoG I won't.
For the record I bought TW1 and 2 on GoG, so far... And frankly they made me sort-of regret that.

No, it wouldn't, and that's precisely the point of my complaint.
They can generate as many Steam keys for their games as they want without being charged a single dollar from Valve.

So Steam lets ppl use their services and bandwidth for nothing at all? That doesn't sound very right.

Also choosing between having the games on both storestores and fully supporting the devs so they can put out awesome games like thisthis thi is hars
hard hardly any choice at all.

It’s free: There’s no charge for bandwidth, updating, or activation of copies at retail or from third-party digital distributors.

If I remember correctly W2 on GOG alone sold around 40k copies in first 6 months.
I think they will double or triple that score this year alone.

I'll be very interested to see how the PS4/X1 versions of this game compare. Past titles suggest the PS4 version should look better but I could have sworn I read somewhere that CD Projekt said they were more familiar with the X1 architecture. In any case it will be interesting to see.

I have a question. Would it be okay to preorder the game from a different key-webpage like this or this?

Or is it like stealing?

I wouldn't risk using those. I don't know about those two particular sites, but people have had games they've bought from unauthorised key resellers removed from their Steam library. If the price looks too good to be true it probably is.

So I should buy it directly from Steam for 49.99 Euro?

Yep, I definitely read that somewhere too (Eurogamer?) - stating that everything is similar to what you would find on a PC, so the X1 is easy for them to understand.

Some of the mechanics haven't aged well, but I fucking love it. Only started this series at the start of the year, and the game felt like a complete breath of fresh air.

It's great that a GOG preorder of Wild Hunt gives you Neverwinter Nights. Why, you ask? Because NWN uses the same engine as the Witcher 1. There are some comparisons to be made between the two games, but the differences in what the two teams achieve is remarkable. Neverwinter Nights helped the Witcher get made, so it's oddly fitting to receive it for pre-ordering the final game of Geralt's adventures.

Anyways, the Witcher 1 has incredible atmosphere, especially in some of the cities.

I'm pretty sure that in the end the superior hardware will have the advantage just like in every other game.
It's not like PS4 is hard to develop for and CDPR know how to squeeze everything out of a machine.

I am pretty sure that was the case with PS3 not PS4. This time PS4 is easier to develop on.

If I buy Witcher 3 on Steam, do I get a GOG key?

So far you can redeem Witcher 1 and 2 on GOG, no matter where you buy it.
Witcher 3 is not confirmed yet. But it stands to reason that you will also be able to do it, because CD Projekt is awesome like that.

GOG is the clear choice if you want to fully support CDPR, I own W1 and W2 on GOG so that's the best price I can get.

I never got over how everyone became ugly in TW2. Looks like everyone is keeping their ugly look from TW2. :-(

Ok, what the fuck are you talking about.
Geralt looks like a thosand times better. Triss doesnt look like an NPC prostiture anymore (TW1) and Jaskier looks better with every game that passes.
Foltest and Zoltan also looked much better from TW1 to 2.

No, seriously, please indicate me with screens how was the character art better in the first game. Maybe your preference for beauty is people looking like porcelain dolls or something.

True that. I kind of want the game on steam too but I'd rather my money goes to the developers directly and I get a bit of extra goodies along the way. Will double dip during a steam sale.

I am beyond excited for this game.

My brain will implode playing it.

Witcher 2 my favorite game that year beyond anything when it came out.

Steam's deal is waaaaay better than GOG's for Australians. I own the first two games on both, so it comes to $71.99 AU on GOG and $47.99 (US, so about $52ish AU) on Steam. Admittedly the GOG deal comes with their Fair Price Policy, but you can't really call that $20 of store credit. It's codes for two free games at a maximum value of $9.99 each; there's no waiting for a sale and going to town on a bunch of really cheap stuff.

I already pre-ordered with GOG in a fit of hype during the event, and I don't regret giving these guys the extra money because they sure as hell deserve it, but I just didn't expect this. I took that Fair Price Policy to mean we'd be getting screwed over with regional pricing, the way we do with Activision and Take Two games, but that isn't the case and it's just far cheaper on Steam.

I'm kinda considering pre-ordering it twice, just because I want something to finally knock Skyrim off the top of my 'Time Played' list in Steam. I'm just telling myself to keep it together because this thing's still eight months away :p

Well, not only do I now refuse to buy the console version, but the tiny bit of hype I had for E3 was shat on by this trailer. Sorry to say this, but I'm glad it got delayed, more time for them to work on the game and for my cheap ass to save up for some new PC parts.

Thanks for this. I'm curious, how big of a team is CDPR?

So my gaming rig is from 2010, I've got around 8gb ram but my cpu is a Intel i7 clocked to 2.7 (every time i try to OC it the computer becomes unstable, have never been able to fix that, think it's a Motherboard issue) and my graphics card is a Radeon HD5900x series. I can't think of the motherboards name, but its pretty good from what I remember paying for it back in 2010 (close to 200-300 bucks). Would a graphics card update suffice to max this game, or do you guys think my cpu needs to be upgraded as well?

Nobody can tell for sure, but you'd probably need an upgrade. Just as many other people.
