Raise the flame shield: Your "controversial" gaming opinion.

It is. Or it should be. :<

Cutesy things are my favourite thing in life. And you find that disgusting.

I don't care what nationality something is from because I think that people of every nationality can make wonderful things. But cuteness is my greatest joy in life.

There's good cute and bad cute.

Good cute: Bunnies.

Bad cute: Moe everything.

-Telltale's Walking Dead is better than the TLOU in almost every way. It has better characters, better storytelling, and I'd argue that the game play is better because it is not as frustrating as TLOU.

-The new Pokemon are crap and why I hate Pokemon now. They should have stuck with the original 150.

-Halo is the best game series of the last 10 years. No other game comes close when you combine campaign, characters, gameplay, story, ai, multiplayer, lore, music, sound effects, map editing, graphics, etc .

Moe is wonderful.

*sigh* I don't wanna say you're killing everything I love, but...dude. You're killing everything I love. Moe and all the weird fetishizing Japan's been doing since...honestly since Chobits, or so...has slowly been killing anime and J-RPGs alike. Don't be that guy. Why would you be that guy? You're better than that.

Oh, and by the way, you can have moe without characters being sexualized.

And I don't really think that moe is new. There have been moe characters in video games and anime for a long time.

Carle from Seiken Densetsu 3 is moe.
T1uioCA.png

Lip from Panel de Pon is moe.

I've been into moe and cuteness ever since I was a small child. It's sad that what makes me happy deep down makes some other people unhappy.

I'm picky when it comes to cuteness. The way I put it is there is "cutesy" which is trying to be cute, successful or not, and then only the successful side is cute. I do like cute things, but only ACUTALLY cute, and of course it's entirely subjective, and there are probably principles to my tastes I can't discern.

"Just want to see story"; read "can't play for shit"

WRPG and JRPGs are stupid as hell terms and I hate the fact they exist. Do we freaking call Devil May Cry a Japanese Action Game and God of War a Western Action Game?

People who bring up 'cutesy, moe, loli blah blah blah' in JRPGs are typically the most ignorant of genre and fail to recongize WRPGs just as numerous faults.

People who overly worry about how a game looks rather than how it plays are the people killing video games nowadays and are the reason games look so nice but have the most shallow gameplay.

People who talk about "It breaks my immersion." sound dumb as all hell to me.

I view the competitive Smash community with contempt because their itemless, stage banning, small character pool sucks half of life out of what makes Smash well Smash bros. The fact they then have the nerve to sit up and call themselves experts and champs is laughable to me. It'd be like a team calling themselves the best at CoD, but only with certain weapons, perks and killstreaks removed from the game. A video of a 'casual' Smash fight will certainly get more people to buy and or be interested in the game than watching Fox and Falco edge guard each other in Melee on Final Destination for 5 minutes.

Here's my recent one: almost every reason for that statement usually due to a gameplay reason, too.

Megaman 9 and 10? They are basically Nostalgia Bait. They look like any other Mega Man game on the Nes and there were like 6 Nes games. that is unacceptable and it shows that Capcom was/is unwilling to make strides to make Mega Man appeal to more than people who grew up with the Nes. Is they tried something ala Powered up, i'd take them more seriously.

Also i can play Playstation and N64 games just fine. I don't see why or how the playstation and N64 game graphics are "painful to look at" The 5th and 6th gen are the best gens.

Pokemon Emerald is the best Pokemon game released.

People who fancy themselves as "indie gamers" are unbearable. Great you don't like to play games with guns so you are better than us.

AAA games are blah, blah, blah, glad there are indie games blah blah...

If you don't like big dumb AAA shooters good for you. There are more indie games released than AAA shooters every year why don't you just be happy. You can quietly believe you are more intelligent or something for playing nothing but indie games but I rather not listen to you.

Stories and music just aren't that important in videogames.
And the stories aren't that impressive either.
Objectively.... your pretty right. Movies and books have for done storing telling a quite a while so its pretty hard to to do bad compared to them. But Half-Life, Portal and few other games have done storying telling very well with the nature of how good games can do it. But most games fall flat compared to even Hollywood's level of shit.

Call of Duty is better than Battlefield.

Mega Evolutions are a horrible addition to the Pokémon franchise.

Kiefer Sutherland is very good as Big Boss in MGS V.

I don't care for Super Mario Galaxy.

Loved every mainline Super Mario game since the first one for NES. Super Mario 64 is one of my favorite games of all time. But I just didn't like the gameplay of Galaxy. The level design felt so disjointed--it completely ruined the game for me.

Oh my God! I'm not alone! Maybe I am part of the human race after all!

For all the Hype the Playstation 4 has had so far, it's library of games isn't all that great. heck, i think it is probably worse than the Wii U right now. At least the Wii U has good solid first party games. Only thing worth getting from it's exclusives so far is probably Second Son.

I really hate the military-esque competitive FPS i.e call of duty, Titanfall, battlefield.

I think they are detrimental to the gaming industry.

and to add icing to the cake, most people who exclusively only play these types of games, I don't consider real gamers.

I just want to start saying that there's no small character pool, no character is banned in either Brawl, Melee or 64. This really speaks tons of how much you know about competitive Smash (and it's not like Super Turbo is not a real fighter for banning Akuma or soft banning Sagat, right?). Second, why on earth would there be in-game item and stage switches if NOT for using them? This "the only way to play Smash (as someone who doesn't even know a lot about it) is the way I play it" attitude is so dumb when presented by both sides.

Where did I say any characters are banned? I said small character pool as in the 'pros' generally use the same 4 characters though I fully admit there are exceptions.

Call of Duty is better than Battlefield.
In ambition and scope of what you can do ... NO. In that works mostly (on Consoles PC gamers will tell you and rightly so its shit over here) and no release not working BS.... yeah... can't argue.

That happens with tons of fighters (usually when the game is not very well balanced). It's not a Smash thing (especially not in SSB64 which is a pretty well balanced game).

I enjoy military-esque competitive FPS i.e. Call of Duty, Titanfall, Battlefield. I also get Madden every year.

I also enjoy many other games, for instance I'm logging tons of hours into FFXIV right now and enjoying it a lot.

I think that while some people think "Bro Gamers" (which I guess I'm a part of) are killing gaming, I actually believe we're one of the main reasons why the gaming industry is growing and why it's become so mainstream and accepted.

Please let's not be dismissive to any segments within our shared hobby and let's celebrate the fact that we have options!

Sony's first party is the best in the industry in quality and quantity.
Open-world >>> hub based >>> linear.
Would love to more devs go open-world with their games.
Ubisoft does open-better than any other dev right now.
Resistance 3 and Farcry 3 are the best singe player fps since Half-Life 2 but for different reasons. Resistance 3 for its campaign and Farcry 3 for the use of stealth in an open-world.
60fps vs locked 30fps doesnt make a game significantly better. In my eyes image quality, especially anti-aliasing is much more important than framerate.

Players demanding immersion, as a catch it all for being too afraid to say "I hate this because of ....." The fact that you use an input stick means they will never be immersion.

Then why is their output mostly mediocre games with a few gems here and there?
Except that you are only making that up.

Sony makes the best new Ip, ninty just repackaged their old games and sprinkle some magic cracked on them and Microsoft just gives up.

Actually as someone who has bought Sony systems since PS1, their 1st party stuff is completely meh to me. Except for Arc the Lad, but see where that series is now, not all Sony IPs can be Gran Turismo or God of War :/

I feel that both Microsoft's and Nintendo's first party games (especially Nintendo's) are way more consistently great games than Sony's.

This is really taste-dependent.

Sony has clearly drank the oh so cinematic Kool-Aid recently, and the exceptions (LBP, MNR, PSASBR, Knack) are pretty weak IMO. I can seen why people would love stuff like Infamous, TLOU, Uncharted, etc. - but that's basically the kind of games I don't play on any system. And it's no wonder the people who approach games like movies would think it's outrageous that Nintendo can keep using their old IPs, lol.

Sony's new IPs from last gen consistently have had amazing presentation but horribly, horribly boring gameplay. I feel though some people are willing to overlook anything if the game is pretty enough.

Rm88 said it much better.

Considering Microsoft doesn't make many games vs sony making a lot, what you said is technically true. Sony just has more variety.

Ninty games are good but they don't deviate from what they have been making since the 90s.

1080P 60FPS! is the worst damn indicator of next gen games for consoles and is either going to go away or kill creativity and content for the sake of a stupid visual fidelity benchmark this generation.

I think Watch Dogs is a boring and bland game, the UI is terrible (seriously every 30 seconds something was popping up on my screen), side missions were mostly AR games or mini-games (the fuck). I gave it three missions or so in Act I before trading it in towards an XB1 play and charge kit for my PC.

Despite a very promising first start for a new ip, Watch Dogs is not in the same class as GTA V, that series and Rockstar do it better than any other developer. In my opinion the only game which comes close is Sleeping Dogs.

Mirrors Edge was one of the best new ip of last generation. Many of my friends can't stand it but I found it different, the art style and soundtrack gorgeous especially. Delighted a new game is coming.

The buzz around Halo for E3 does nothing for me, boring series in my opinion. I like MS' exclusive stuff like Gears, Forza Horizon and Alan Wake but I just can't take to Halo after numerous attempts.

The Last of Us bored me.
Final Fantasy XII is top five in the series.
The Metal Gear Solid series sucks.
The Dual Shock 3 is damn near unusable.
Oblivion is better than Skyrim.

I'll probably have more later.
