I don't know why people were so into this game, there was no gameplay or barely any footage.

I understand following a good dev's work but the hype seemed quite unreasonable.

Team ICO made a couple of my all time favorite games. I can see why people would hold onto some hope.

If this is true, I can't say I'm surprised. With a tortured dev cycle like TLG had, I was always doubtful that if it did come out that it would really feel like it was made in its original vision. Too many hands have passed over it.
