The story takes place in 1984. It's a reference to the George Orwell novel of the same name, a book that deals with a Patriot-esque system (or rather since the book came out first, the MGS series deals with a Big Brother-esque antagonist)

Yeah, I noticed that, too. From the after credit scene in GZ, I think Skull Face is after Zero, too. Makes me think that Skull Face may not be the villain everyone is assuming he is.

Yeah i guess that's pretty dumb too, but it does sort of fit the style of the series. The horn though.... come on kojima.... Having the main character run around with this stupid thing sticking out of his face is so lame to me. It's going to be super distracting.

I believe the Shagohod could believably exist in the 60s. The only reason why we don't have one in real life is because it's highly impractical and expensive. I mean it does have 2 rocket engines strapped to it. 1 rocket is a bitch to work with as it is, let alone coordinate 2 of them at once.
