Sony E3 2014 Conference Thread

WHY THE FUCK DID YOU MENTION VIB RIBBON TWICE AND SHOW NOTHING FOR IT

F----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*INFINITY

BURN DOWN SONY

Conference was way too long, and honestly none of the reveals surprised me or got me excited.

6/10

Microsoft had a better showing. And Nintendo actually has the opportunity to have the best showing, but we'll see.

pretty much where I'm sitting. Sony had a lot of great stuff but their overall conference was too long and a huge portion of it was dedicated to things that I not only don't care about, it's a direction I don't want to see Playstation go in. I didn't like the mobile, f2p, tv, set top box, vita's a mobile device now strategy. I feel like they're dipping their toe into a pool that you don't come out of once you jump in...

Sony has very dreadful pacing but when it comes to games, comparatively to Microsoft, they are on the same page for this E3. The only difference for me is Scalebound might only come out in 2016, compared to Bloodborne in 2015.

Sony had a solid conference, a much better balance of gameplay footage and CGI. Sony also seem to have a better relationship with the multi-platform developers, with all the exclusive content they have secured.

Really like the look of No Man's Sky.

Very mediocre showing for everyone.

I feel like Sony's could have been a lot better if they trimmed a lot of the fat. Those useless talking points about TV and stuff could have been shortened a lot.

No JRPG = sad times

Though, tales of hearts R mmmm

Nintendo can still easily steal this... show me X....this year, and smash bros, and metroid....and zelda....and Fzero.

give me 3 of the above, and it's all nintendo.

Tales of Hearts R was mentioned for the Vita.

Pretty meh conference. Nothing about it really made me want to go out and get a PS4, whereas Microsoft at least had Sunset Overdrive and the Halo collection, which is really tempting for me.

Uncharted 4 certainly looks pretty though, I'll give them that. Never been a fan of the Uncharted games though.

Conference just got ruined by that section about TV and movies, when Microsoft's had great pacing and was just game after game after game.

Microsoft: B
Sony: C
EA: F
Ubisoft: C

Microsoft had a terrible conference, what the hell is everyone going on about? The best thing they had to announce was a collection of four old games, how is that hype worthy?

(ok, sunset overdrive looked pretty rad)

8/10

Like MS, a solid conference overall. MS's was more consistently engaging, while Sony had higher highs.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the MS conf was, while I was disappointed with Sony's. Bringing people to a theater just for a "solid" conference seems a bit like overkill.

What did you think, Vibri?

WTF WAS WITH BRINGING VIB RIBBON UP SEVERAL TIMES

Negative Vib Ribbon / Mentioning Vib Ribbon Two Times WHAT THE FUCK.

Is he just totally unaware that the game never came to North America?

Wasn't as good as I had hoped.

The Order looks worse than I initially thought. For now I'm just going to pretend like they chose an odd segment to show off and assume we'll get some good videos over the next couple of days.

I was hoping to see more of Uncharted and that it would give me a hint of some new gameplay mechanic to freshen up the series. It seemed much darker in tone than previous entries and that worries me A LOT. Not what I expected as an initial glimpse.

Remastering the original Ratchet & Clank with new visuals and gameplay is a nice surprise. Will definitely pick this up with a PS4 sometime down the road.

No Man's Sky is pretty, but I don't even understand what you do that makes it fun. If it's just running around different worlds to take in the sights and shoot stuff in space then I won't like it.

Can't wait to watch people play Bloodborne. I'm terrible at FROM Software's games (they're usually too difficult), but I do love watching them in action. : )

I love the concept behind LBP3, but I just can't get past the floaty controls. I was hoping MM had something else. Are they big enough for 2 games at once, maybe they have something original on the way.

Batman and GTA V looked great, but neither one will be exclusive.

Surprised at the lack of original Vita games.

PSTV looks really nice. Pricing for PSNow will make or break it for me.

I gotta give Microsoft the edge so far, mostly because

-Sunset Overdrive looks nifty
-Dead Rising 3 DLC is fun
-I'm a huge Halo fan

This conference didn't really do much for me. Uncharted 4 would've been nice if they'd shown something more substantial, and the only indie game out of the many, many they showed that grabbed me at all was No Man's Sky.

Counting on Nintendo to drop bombs tomorrow.

7.5/10.

Xbox is winning so far for me. Let's see what Nintendo has to offer now.

Uncharted 4 being cgi at this event shows me that game is far off. Same with Bloodborne (Project Beast). They were pretty even conferences until that Powers-Indies-PSTV triple combo came into play.

I honestly think both Microsoft and Sony had fairly decent presentations this year. I would personally give the edge to Sony on this, but I'm sure different people have different opinions.

On the other hand it's easy to notice how many of the games they "bragged" about were actually multiplatform available even on the competing systems.

MS: 12/10 (Because Kamiya transcends all life)
EA: 4/10
Ubisoft: 6.5/10
Sony: 6/10 (I was gonna give it a 7 but bumped it down for all the TVTVTV bullshit)

Well that was dissapointing.
The only cool thing was Bloodborne.

Boring third party showing, lots of uninteresting talk (bla bla ps now, bla bla lots of people have shared shit, bla bla Tv show because clearly everyone loved that about MS X1 reveal, etc).

PS: Also, what the hell happened to drake. He looks NOTHING like in uncharted 1-3

Sony: C+
Microsoft: B-
EA: D
Ubisoft: C-

No Man's Sky was the highlight of this conference for me. Terrible pacing, and a lack of diverse genres (aside from indies) really culled my enjoyment of this conference.

Basically both Microsoft's and Sony's conferences were by the books expected reveals. Very boring, and of course nothing from Capcpom................................ Hype levels are dead unless Nintendo saves us with a Metroid reveal.

wait...what?

suda51 game

grim fandango

gta 5

bloodborne

entwined available right now!

playstation (vita) tv

ps now with dead space 3, gow ascension, etc.

omfg no man's sky

i mean they showed a lot. that middle part dragged on but there was a lot of information to digest from that presser.

I'll give Sony a B+ based solely on the first 2/3rds.

acknowledgment of a new Uncharted is great and all but I need to see more than that.

Actually footage of Bloodbourne would have bumped it up to an A

7/10

Started well for the first half an hour, next hour was more or less boring as fuck, though the ending was amazing and saved it.

I am just going to ignore all juniors posting around E3 time. Most are just terrible and so easy to tell what colored glasses they are wearing.

I think Sony's conference had good highs but equally bad lows. They don't know how to put on a "show" like MS even though they are an entertainment company. Too many Execs talking about nonsense.

In anycase, the games that wowed:
- Uncharted 4
- No Man's Sky

Great time to be a gamer ahead!

No contest for me. Sony kicked ass. Honestly they could have just shown that Bloodborne trailer and I would have been happy. Souls series is my favorite.

Why the hell is there no thread for ABZU?????

There is no pleasing you guys. Ridiculous standards you guys have, it's quite embarrassing. They showed awesome games and a couple surprises. Dat fucking no mans sky, give it to me nao

cut out the ty BS and its a wonderful conference. Now its OK, at least it showed way more (3rdparty and exclusive stuff) that i like. So it was entertaining.

Grim alone is enough for being the best conference in my book.

That last announcement, I was like 'It's happening ffffffffffffffffff', then I saw the Naughty Dog logo and my heart sank.

3PO.gif

Have to give Sony props for lots of actual "gameplay" footage. The conference was bogged down with boring tv and talking. But I felt more excited about the games, in Microsoft's conference it seemed like constant cinematics no gameplay.

7/10

Sony has really fucked up their 2014, IMO.

I think they're going to be just fine. They are stacked with games including the best versions of multiplatform games. I don't get this line of thinking. 2015 is going to be super strong for them and MSFT though but 2014 Sony has their ducks in a row. Unless you don't like games?

lol wow. Terrible conference.

  • Not a single megaton Vita exclusive game.
  • Wasted time on social, sharing and freemium nonsense
  • No Crash PS4
  • Barely anything of Uncharted 4 shown
  • Majority of games highlighted (Destiny, Farcry, Battlefield, etc.) looked safe & basic as hell.
  • Lolol The Last Guardian.

Complete joke. Aside from MGS5 (which we saw yesterday) and the barely there Uncharted 4, only cool parts were:

  • ABZU
  • No Man's Sky
  • Grim Fandango remaster.

Everything else was shit.

Yep, Nintendo has already won for me. I'm way more hyped for Zelda U than literally everything MS and Sony showed combined, and that's not mentioning stuff like Smash and whatever else Nintendo has to offer. I'm not a fan of shooters, and most of the stuff I might like they showed barely anything of or has been known for a long time. Nintendo would have to screw up big time for me not to like digital event the most

It's nice Sony had the exclusive opportunity to show games at their conference, but it doesn't really help them, when many of the games aren't exclusive.

It's a reversal of the 360 E3 days really.
