hehe

You will be ashamed of your words and deeds

Despite my increasing disinterest in modern gaming as a whole - a new Metal Gear always delivers. This game looks incredible. Truly a series that has grown up with its audience. The tone is so, so different from the past entries. Very intriguing.

Really wish the next-gen versions got these character models instead of the low-poly last gen ones.

I'm not even sure if next gen could reproduce those models in an open world, but in any case that boat has well and truly sailed. And after seeing some more graphically intensive E3 games completely underwhelm, I'm still willing to bet this will still be the jewel in the crown for the Metal Gear franchise, cross gen graphic warts and all.

Is there a link to the full trailer?

Still confused over the Punished Snake vs Venom Snake distinctions, but I'm sure it'll be explained.

I hope Kojima and Co. will share the rest of their E3 presentation after the fact, but the wait is killing me. At least give us a (real) release date!

Anyone else kinda bothered by the technology in Phantom Pain? Like Big Boss getting a robot arm, Peace Walker have AI machines and stuff. Shit is more advanced than in MG and MGS.

Game will be amazing though and looks to be a lot more emotional and serious than any other Metal Gear and I can't wait for that even if they do keep some of the silly stuff like the cardboard boxes and fulton recovery (now on rams!).

Naked Snake, Punished Snake, Venom Snake, Big Boss, Vic Boss, Saladin, Jack, John, Jacob, Jingleheimer, Schmidt...

Kojima, I think the character has enough god damn names. Settle your shit down.

Don't forget that MGS is still a science fiction game grounded in real world events and military tech.

I'm confused... where are the new screens coming?

Military R&D! Secrets within the Military-Industrial Complex! NANOMACHINES!

Honestly, who knows.

There is still the weird bright light + sound thing in this trailer, wonder what it means.

No weird glowing vertical bands though.

MGS had cyborg ninja, and MGS3 had this.

We've been told several times that the gameplay will be behind closed doors, yet Kojima tweeted that it will be shown at the Konami booth over the next 3 days. What? At the Konami booth.... behind closed doors?

Those are actually real. Well, they were. Look them up. They were experimental in the 60's. They used a modified jet engine to hover the platform.

Remember; MGS is a science fiction series grounded in real world events and military tech.

yep. Flying pulpit or williams x jet. Superiority of helicopters killed them off supposedly.

However what was the flying stuff meant to be in PW? Coanda effect? They never really explained that.

They don't use jet fuels.

Man, it's hard for me to get excited after MGS4 was such a disappointment. I can already imagine the zany cast of characters and endless exposition now.

I stand corrected then XD

It's cool. A lot of people think most of the ridiculous tech in the series is bullshit. A lot of it isn't. Either it was experimental or MGS just added onto something that already exists in some form or another. I get a bit irritated when people get upset that MGS has a lot of science fiction-ish stuff in it... sci-fi is a part of the series!

This is the first time I've heard MGS4 mentioned in a while in a metal gear thread and I've just realized that, damn, it's sure been a breath of fresh air not to have every last living soul go on about how it ruined the series or whatever.

From the gameplay alone though, even the most ardent MGS4 haters agree it's already going to be better than that title. Hell I loved 4 and even I know MGSV will have greater gameplay quantity and quality.

i just checked out the last few seconds, doesn't seem like there was anything different?

I was referencing the one shown at Sony's E3, which has some parts at the end missing compared to the directors cut uploaded by Konami.

Man o man do I hope the base is super detailed and we can walk in it. Like, I hope it's as big as the Big Shell from MGS2, with every strut enterable.

I love what they are doing with the Fox Engine. MGSV still retains the feel of the series graphics wise (not too much focus on textures fidelity etc, but rather on color and lighting composition in each and every scene), and it is so clean looking. Awesome stuff.

Looks like a bunch of objectives can be tackled at once. That's cool. I just hope there isn't much clutter on screen with all those markers.

I know you can remove enemy silhouettes and markers already in Ground Zeroes, but hopefully Phantom Pain will allows us to remove other markers on screen as well. Not a deal breaker, but it would be nice.

That box also looks pretty damn gorgeous, look at the ridged pattern on the flaps innards.

mind posting link to that one instead?

Trailer is awesome! Can't wait to play this more than ever especially since playing the crap out of GZ. Any clue when this will release? Somewhere it said 2015 but the '1984' maybe a clue that it might come in 2014?
