Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Why are people threating?

It's more than likely this update was made before he left. I doubt he bring his own dev kit everywhere.

Relax, bombs will be dropped. Shame the stage looks bland compared to the other 3DS stages.

While it would really suck if we don't get a newcomer, the amount of new info we'll get from the Invitational alone would satisfy me for a while.

But, c'mon guys...we're totally getting a newcomer at some point during E3.

I wouldn't read too much into this. Maybe Sakurai felt he didn't need to mention E3 because anyone who cares enough to check the PotD already knows it's tomorrow. The Directs, on the other hand, get considerably less hype and fanfare, so he gives a little reminder that it's going down.

lmao at people wondering if we'll get anything at E3. Of course we will. It's not like Nintendo has much else to show.

except for Zelda and Bayo and Pushmo and X and Yarn Yoshi and SMTxFE, not to mention new stuff like Mario Maker

Nope, nothing at all.

Huh, so this is the first (only?) stage to actually make specific use of it being on the 3DS - the coin counter, on the top left of the screen, will naturally be different for each player. Kinda neat.

Maybe he did this update in advance before he left.

I'm pretty sure he'd have planned out when each update was going to go up, so he'd probably know that this update was going up before Nintendo's E3 blowout and would plan accordingly.

Are you guys missing the huge E3 SMASH INVITATIONAL on the official site?

Only on the American sites. The Japanese and European sites are still linking to the Smash Direct

My Smash predictions:

1) Direct will open with a reveal
2) Some small details and the 3DS date will be announced
3) Details of the Wii U game
4) Trailer with the general game footage and returning veterans
4) Invitational will have one reveal
5) Roundtable will give us a LOT of details
6) Floor demos of both games and a lot of coverage from people

Maybe more, but I can't be bothered to type. :P

@Hatchtag: you goofed dude, wtf were you thinking?

New thread for new news, no one had posted the stage yet.
Unless it's a permaban...worth it.

Seriously. I'm worried that we're going to know too much about Smash before it launches.

The closer we get to launch, the more I'm thinking the reason Brawl's launch felt like we knew so much was because it was already out in Japan for a month and a half. Hopefully they don't have a huge difference in release dates this time.

If you wanna be optimistic, you could argue that they've got so much to show, that they can have the luxury of introducing new elements even the night before the bombs are dropped.

People have been banned for misleading thread titles before. I don't agree with such severity, but that's how things have panned out in the past. So... Be careful!

Is that a problem? Its a fighting game after all. Unless they sneak a story mode in there knowing about items/characters/levels isn't a big deal to most people. Hell I actually enjoy Nintendo's throughness with speaking about their games lately. They've been putting everything out their for gamers to see. Its incredibly refreshing.

We knew everything about MK8 before it launched.

Game is still completely and utterly amazing.

So, let them tell all about Smash. Bring it!

How cool would it be if after one of the tournament matches the challenger approaches screen comes up and reveals a veteran like Captain Falcon or Ganondorf. Would be even more awesome if they did this with a newcomer.

That's interesting that this update features a gold Samus when my last gif had gold Samus:

I almost expect it, to be honest. There's already a precedent for it with WFT last year. It's gonna be someone the community really wants if they do it, though. So Mewtwo, Ridley, or well-liked competitive characters would seem the most likely.

Even if Smash isn't in that Nintendo Digital thing, we are getting tons of in-game footage. I'll gladly take that, and we are totally seeing new characters during the event, best believe dat.

wait so how is the treehouse thing gonna work? Is it just gonna be random YouTube uploads with interviews etc to the official channel or something entirely different?

Pic of the day. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a game where you collect tons of coins. Thus, it's only natural that many coins will appear in this stage… Wait, is this really Super Smash Bros??

If you collect 100 coins, you transform into a gold fighter! For a short period of time, your attack power will increase and you won't flinch when you receive attacks. This unique stage's name is Golden Plains and it's exclusive to the 3DS version.

Pikachu did it first!

I can't believe it's just a couple hours away now. Months and months of hype in Smash GAF threads all leading up to one day. Forgot how dangerous E3 hype could be. Crazy.
