On the characters I'd give both a decent chance of appearing. But... Why would Nintendo reveal F-Zero U so soon after MK8? They'd shoot themselves in their foot. MK8 would take all momentum from F-Zero.
That said, an F-Zero for 3Ds would be more likely. However, Nintendo also said that F-Zero needed a significant graphical upgrade to warrant a new game, basically nullifying chances of an F-Zero on 3DS... Therefore we won't get an F-Zero.

If you collect 100 coins, you transform into a gold fighter! For a short period of time, your attack power will increase and you won't flinch when you receive attacks. This unique stage's name is Golden Plains and it's exclusive to the 3DS version.
Incredible - Pink Gold Peach will actually be a thing in Smash now.

The stream is still up, we're on our 6th run through a randomized Heartgold, and we're facing Alice on Mt.Silver these day, from the 4th run, randomized FireRed, with a hype bream tuna Masquerain) DJ Stalinking (Slaking with Fly and huge power as edited by someone with ROM) Karm Marc the Mew, Shellock Holmes the Blastoise etc.

I'm really hoping for at least 1 new female or multi-gender (like villager and wii-fit) character. If there's more I'll be super happy :3
List of Hopes: (aka stuff I'd like that might actually be possible)
* Palutena
* Dixie
* Robin (or Anna or Lucina or any female rep at all from FE that doesn't end up an assist trophy)
List of Dreams! (aka chances so close to zero they might as well be zero
) * Lip (I love fairies, plus dropping blocks on people's heads could be fun
)* Viridi (when Viridi joins the battle, Alfonzo is in charge of exterminating Humanity. Alfonzo: "Leave it to me!" ~millions die~)
* Mona? (I'd prefer Ashley but Mona's still kinda cool
)* Sylveon (Mostly so I could chase after QQ Moe with it :3 )
Admittedly both these lists could be a lot longer but even I'm not delusional enough to think that my very fickle but exacting vanities have any better chances than these XD
Regardless though, I'm looking forward to the event and invitational. Worst comes to worst there's still wii-fit, rosalina, independant zelda and the newly equipped zero suit samus for me to play with
