E3 2014 | Nintendo Digital Event

Why didn't they show the trailer with a bunch of upcoming eShop titles in the Digital Event?
I really want to know too. Its the same thing every year "Hey Nintendo why no x?" when x was revealed only it was shown post-event or only in press release or youtube form (Wonderful 101 was like this).

But I guess making it 45 minutes is important and also the Japanese won't care America is finally getting Layton vs. Ace Attornety (I guess also the eShop downloads some won't come to Japan).

I'm the only one that expected another art style for new Zelda? Something maybe dark?

This "new" Zelda, its look that they using the same engine from Skyward Sword, but now on HD, so that's way it will look that is something new.

So much 2015 stuff it's disappointing, but seems it's the trend for this whole E3.

But i found the Digital presentation really well done, funny and made with care(like Nintendo games !). It was really entertaining and ran flawlessly, not a mess like the one last year.

My ratings:

Nintendo: A
Microsoft: B
Sony: C

I didn't expect such a charming show from Nintendo. This was the most fun to watch and they have some good stuff lined up.

I don't see how the kind of person who still buys Nintendo consoles for their first-party stuff could rank Microsoft's presser over Sony's. I also don't see how the kind of person who enjoys the sort of fare that Microsoft was offering could rank Nintendo's over Sony's.

I really liked this conference's presentation, it was more than a Nintendo Direct and I really enjoyed that.
My only problem was the dev talk(Which I enjoyed)was a bit too long, and dry for a big presentation. Also, a lot of things were 2015 and that was a bit disappointing.
Other than that, I thought it was great.
I love E3! :)

I'll take Japanese games over grimdark Western crap.

But that's the way I like it.

Yeah, I noticed that many were disappointed with the other conferences because of that. I thought Sony's and Microsoft's showings were solid, Nintendo's not so much. But it's not like that I have anything against Japanese games, it's just a little weird from a business standpoint nowadays... idk.

Uh what? It looked pretty different to me....

Very good showing from Nintendo. Lots of good looking games and few nice announcements.

Xenoblade Chronicles X didn't show particularly well though which was disappointing but other than that everything else looked pretty good. Hard to muster up too many complaints, it was just a really strong showing.

Not the best show of E3 for me personally but Nintendo did well. Probably not enough to pull them out of their hole but more than enough to make me satisfied that I bought a Wii U as a secondary console.

Overall though, I still think Microsoft had the best showing but Nintendo is not far behind.

Microsoft - A
EA - F
Ubisoft - C-
Sony - B-
Nintendo - A-

It terms of conferences it's been a pretty good E3, especially from the console manufacturers. 2015 and beyond is looking incredibly promising.

Great "conference", on the same level of the others but being shorter the impact on me has been greater.
Content side, I'm speechless by Zelda and the new TPS IP looks cool. Happy for the Bayonetta package and the trailer of X, completely uninterested by Mario Maker, Yoshi and Smash.
Bad note: everything was 2015.

+ Zelda U looks amazing
+ Toad's own game!
+ Kirby's best game getting a sequel!
+ Yoshi's Woolly World is coming to take the bad taste of New Island out of our mouths.
+ Splatoon, an online game without headshoot and "pro"s
+ amiiboo's so bought
+ Robot Chicken presentation
+ Bayo 1+2
+ Miyamoto tease
+ No useless 3rd party trailers

- Unexiting Smash character reveals
- Devil's Third, Mario Party 10 and Fantasy Life aren't on the show.
- Everything was 2015. Though it's a common trend this E3.
- 3DS, just like Vita, has been ignored

8.5/10

wow Devil's Third looks uninspired as hell.. this looks worse than Army of Two

Yeah I am not very impressed by Devil's Third. Hopefully it has a bit more to it that doesn't come across in this demo.

The melee combat looks fun but the gunplay looks horrid.

I guess the games core thing is the insane levels of customization?

Once the action started it was 100% aparent we were watching a film. No way will the game look and control like that.

He jumped off a horse, pulled out a bow and arrow and shot the robot in mid air. You really think that is in game?

And? It's still not CG. It's in-engine.

The Legend of Zelda Wii U shown and looks beautiful
Xenoblade Chronicles X titled
Yoshi's Wooly World announced for Wii U
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse announced for Wii U
Mario Maker announced for Wii U
Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker announced for Wii U
Splatoon announced for Wii U
Star Fox teased for Wii U
Devil's Third announced for Wii U
Bayonetta 2 includes Bayonetta 1 for free, dated for October
Nintendo Amiibo NFC toy figures work across games including Mario Kart 8
Hyrule Warriors dated for September
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire dated for November

Nintendo won E3?

Yes.

And we still got the invitational which I'm super hyped for.

That doesn't automatically make it CGI. It could be using the in-game engine, though I still think it looks way too pretty for that.

You don't appear to know the difference between "gameplay" and "in-game". The latter implies that it was running in the game engine and not pre-rendered (which the Zelda trailer clearly was - as it always is with Zelda reveals). The former implies its someone actually playing the game (which it wasn't, for the reasons you mentioned)

MS: B (good show, but everything was leaked)
EA: D (not an F because of hardline)
UBI: C+ (unfortunately i started watching just as just dance came on)
Sony: B- (boring parts brought down an otherwise good show)
Nintendo: D+ (only interested in zelda and that looked good)

I'm still amazed at how awful the EA conference was, compared to their amazing showing last year.

I really wanted this to be announced.
I would much rather have a new game over a remake. Majora's Mask is fine as is and I can play it right now. No need to have a 3DS version considering how much resources Nintendo uses to do remakes. Look at how long and how much money was spent on Windwaker HD.

That doesn't mean it's pre-rendered CG.

Star Fox will likely be shown in another 25 minutes on the Official Nintendo stream. Also, they're apparently showing other games, including one not shown on the show-floor.

Hype!

I don't know if Nintendo "won" E3, but their conference was easily the most entertaining and they also showed my most anticipated game now (Zelda, followed closely by Uncharted and Halo Collection).

I love E3! :)

Nintendo will release more trailers during/after e3, they always do.

Then don't even bother having a show and just release the trailers. Talk, then show. Show, then talk. Show and don't talk. The format Nintendo chose did a piss poor job of explaining what the games were about or giving anybody who isn't already a dyed in the wool Nintendo fan reason to be excited.

With this kind of show and lineup nothing at all will change for them. Nothing.

Nintendo won the E3, probably, 2015 looks good for the Wii U...

... too bad we will get most of this in 15 - 18 months.
