So if this releases next year (lol) is this SQEX's way of appeasing FF fans because FFXV could still be 2+ years away?![]()
That was my assumption as soon as they announced it + XV's lack of presence at E3 this year.

Oh, c'mon, it's not. It's only a natural reaction after an announcement such as this. If the mistake wouldn't have been made, yes we would have still complained but not to these heights.
Why would they ever do that?He has a point though: why release a big HD remaster for a very unstable platform when you can reach a gigantic audience? It's just smart business (even though it should be ported to Vita as well).
Only if you say it's a spoiler and then continue to specify the show that spoiler is from. I surely have no idea what it's from.

Another relevant question: FF Type 0 was designed for a portable platform and if I understand it right, it has quick mission structures catered to the mobile audience. How is this going to work on consoles, I wonder...
It was initially announced for PS Vita on the blog, and Vita owners were the most vocal about it getting localised for ages
Somebody would have to check the tally, but I would bet a good portion if not majority of the petitioners were just bugging Square for the game in general. Vita was a factor because Vita was the logical destination, but if it really was just Vita owners demanding Type-0, I don't think we would be here in this thread talking about this remastering, on any platform.
But yeah, "entitlement" is a little rough. There's reason to have expected it on Vita if anything (and Sony didn't do hearts any good by blowing the announcement.) Plus, if they're going to be ripping open the code for a port, even with a nice asset step-up it seems like their work could remain within Vita (or PS3/360, for that matter... otherwise, Lightning Returns is probably the end of the line there) if the engine/middleware supported the platform.
I can't imagine it'll take too long for it to be released, right? I mean, if I recall correctly, the localization has been done for a long while, no?

When I see posts like this I just can't help but roll my eyes. If you guys wanted the game localized so much why are so many of you claiming "OH ILL JUST BUY IT USED NOW!!!! THAT WILL SHOW THEM"
People who wanted FF Type-0 localized (like myself) will buy the PS4 or XB1 version day one. People who wanted more Vita exclusives will cry and pretend they actually wanted to play this game.

By that logic we can just scrap dedicated all together and go smartphone only.
Final Fantasy Type-0 is many things, but it is not the game formerly known as Versus XIII. It was announced alongside Versus XIII in the Fabula Nova Crystalis series of Final Fantasy game as Agito Final Fantasy XIII for mobile phones. Development then shifted to PSP and eventually the game was renamed Final Fantasy Type-0. Square Enix reused the game's assets for Final Fantasy Agito, a different mobile game that takes place in Type-0's universe. Type-0 (the PSP game) is now getting redone for PS4 and Xbox One.
The hell? Ok. Lets see if I can clear this up even if E3 hype is still fresh in mah body. It's making me not think straightFF Type-0 and FFXV are two different games. FFXV use to be named FF ver. XIII. Type-0 use to be called FF XIII Type-0, I think. Both games, long with FF XIII Lightening games, are apart of something called Fabula Nova Cyrstalis. These games share a common theme/myth regarding crystals and deities.

Type-0 HD is a pretty awesome announcement. It will be much better than what the original Type-0 was, which has it own sleigh of gameplay & technical problems due to the platform. I just can't see any reason to be disappointed. Type-0 is not the kind of game that is better on a small screen and will simply benefit from being on the big screen. Just sounds like no matter what awesome things Square Enix does, some of you want to be butthurt and bitch about them.Just what we were missing. You defending every decision SE comes up with. Can't you let fans be disappointed for once?
Im 100% positive we wouldn't have this localization without the vita and psp supporters. You can try to downplay them but its the truth.
This is all cool except a game like this I'd rather own a physical copy of Type-0.

For the 100th time, not every Vita owner has a PS4 or a X1 for god's sake

I'm 100% positive that's bullshit, else it would be on Vita.
The crazy part about this is that it actually would be super-profitable to do this in Japan where the Vita is king and the PS4 is treated like an ugly stepchild by Japanese developers.

I doubt they're going to release Type-0 on disc for PS4/Xbox One. More than likely it's going to be on PSN and XBLA.There won't be a physical copy?
Ok, GAF. I know nothing about Final Fantasy Type-0. I am a big Final Fantasy fan from 1-10, but never played anything since that other than FFXIV (MMO). Didn't touch any of the XIII stuff.
I love traditional JRPGs and have been wanting to scratch that itch on PS4. Should I be excited?

Release a game on a platform that is pretty much dead or release it on two that will probably have combined sales of 25+ million by the time this is released? I don't really know where you are getting that the most vocal fans are just Vita owners. Most of those people probably have at least some interest in either PS4 or Xbone (if they don't already have one). The Vita install base is pathetically small, it doesn't make much sense to release a console-level FF on it. 3DS would've been ok, but Vita is already both feet in its grave. The indies are slowing its burial, but it's gonna happen sooner rather than later.
assuming they don't change anything in this release (I think chances are high they will), I don't think there will be any issue with the game structure.
The game is divided by chapters, each chapter has one story mission that you get some in game days to prepare for. The story missions aren't anything that can't work as a console game. Actually it would work great, there are tons of cutscenes CG and stuff, they involve going through a dungeon and boss fights and no, they're not exactly bite sized missions. They can be pretty long, you have save points in there just like a console FF would be.
What might be considered bite sized and designed for "mobile", are whatever you get to do on those in game days. There are still several story events to view. The requests you do aren't any different than usual generic fetch quests in JRPGs either. I don't think playing it as a console game would be any issue. There were some features like gaining xp while psp sleeping and things like that, that might not make sense here but as a whole there isn't anything making this worse to play as a console game.
