DRIVECLUB gets actual weather effects, screenshots inside

God. That's just PERFECT.

Should have had an E3 trailer for that!!

I hope you can customize the severity of thunder, lightning, downpour.

Would be cool if rain affected tires (and if you could change tires). I know it's not a sim, but it wouldn't have to be.

Does anyone know if this is for all tracks, and if there will be snow/strong winds? And how many tracks of the 55 tracks are truly unique (not mirrors)?

Edit: Just read the tweet about weather affecting handling. Nice! Wonder if they will add tire changing to the improvements.

This game has seriously benefitted from the delay

To be fair this is Sony's flagship racer for the PS4. I'm surprised they didn't even get any coverage during E3.

Truth is with E3 being in NA it might not make that much sense , the NA press don't even call GT when they talking about Sony big IPs should tell you something .
Much better to show off everything gamescom plus more people can play the game .

The shots that are far too close up really show that the rain beads are a normal map, and they tend to look more like bumps under the paintwork instead; not so sure I like the rain effects on the cars and they seem to be inconsistent.

However, dat environment! The puddles of water look amazing and they're giving me big time PGR4 vibes. If you can hydroplane over the deeper puddles, that would be so damn awesome. I can't wait to see this in motion as well as the snow effects.

I never would have guessed that this was going to be the PGR we've been waiting for when it was revealed.

I wouldn't say bar none. Horizon 2 is a stunning game and I think it will stand up relatively well to any comparisons that are eventually made.

I disagree with you there. FH2 looks very average. The car models (specially the interiors) need improvement, and the environments are stiff. The trees look pretty bad. The 2D bushes you "run over" just disappear in front of you.

Back on topic, these latest pictures made my jaw hit the floor. They look absolutely amazing. I'm more of a sim player, but if this game maintains a solid frame rate while looking like this, I'll bite.

All the shots are of the cars in motion, so the water would be more like rivulets than beads. I do think some of them look more like a bumpy surface, like the paint has cracked almost. But then I'm also not a fan of Forza Horizons dots of glue that don't move at all, even when driving fast.

Even slight vehicle impacts gives you negative fame points, I like that. Online could be a little less destruction derby. Who am I kidding, it won't change anything in online races.
If I get rammed will I get less points or do they have a way of figuring out who's fault it was?

Wow, looks like Gran Turismo 3 (how my 17 year old younger self remembers it looking anyway)

Really looking forward to this.

I was thinking there was a lot of aliasing from the twitch stream earlier, but I'm seeing here on the Gamespot stream it looks great (I mean, still compressed, but you can see that the problem was mostly Twitch's stream).

Would be cool if a mod can change the thread title to reflect the confirmation of both rain AND snow. Many will miss the news since it's...new lol

This game in the Gamespot stream is truly astonishing looking.

And the interviewer is SO much better than the Twitch guy who didn't even seem to know or care about anything.

Wow. That's great news. I'm buying a PS4 for this. I love me some racing games. Together with FH2, the Crew and Project Cars this is going to be the best year in gaming for me since... Ever I guess.
