DRIVECLUB gets actual weather effects, screenshots inside

My God the new build looks amazing. The delay was so worth it and on top we are getting weather too!

Best looking racer bar none!

We need bicycle DLC.

I'll pay $4.99 to ride a nice bike in the environments. No engine sound, no hunks of metal. Just me, riding in the wind, and just looking at things.

I'll pay $5.99 if I can just get off the car, walk around the tracks, go up the mountains and just chill :)

*HIGH FIVE*

Have to leave work early now to go play PGR4 in the rain...
Make that a double high five!

This is looking quite sublime; now have to make a choice between this and FH2 as I don't want two consoles and yet there are PGR elements in both games.

dynamic weather will be a future update soon after launch. cant wait for that.
Waitaminute. Now there's a delay on the weather?

Shortly?

Really?

You aren't just fucking with me now are you? Because that'd be a solid kick to the nuts after all the weather celebration.

Is it coming shortly like GT6's promised post-launch content? Or the DriveClub delay? Or Shadowfall's Co-op expansion? Or Suspend/Resume? Ugg.

The game looks great. And each time I see I think "I should buy this" and then I realize the ps+ edition and get excited I get to really try before I potentially buy.

Never any snow in these racings games with supercars.

Dammit, I just want to race the nurburgring in a foot of snow with my mclaren f1.

Is that too much to ask for?

For rally sure, otherwise take your 500+ hp rwd super car in the snow and tell me how that works out

It looks good damn sexy.

BUT I'm still concerned about the gameplay.

At least I can use the Plus edition as a Demo before I buy the game.

its true. not sure how long after the launch. but instead of just adding weather, they are probably tweaking it and adding a lot of detail. this dev team is trying to make the best game they can. so I can wait. no big deal.

GT6 post launch content was canned when they realized that the game bombed and they had to shift all their resources behind Gran Turismo PS4 ASAP.
Weather in Driveclub was always something they said they were considering to add but never confirmed so far. So I'm pretty happy that not only they're confirming its presence but they're also showing it.
Obviously it would have been better if it was immediatly available at launch but the fact they have it up and running already within the game is a really good sign.

Damn, this trailer has me hyped!

The clan/factions aspect is so good. I've been playing a lot of Clash of Clans, so I'm really digging working as a team for one common goal as opposed to lone-wolfing it like in years past (looking at you, CoD). October can't come soon enough!

Sure it does. In Forza Horizon 2!

Posts like this should be ban-worthy. Have you every played PGR4? FH2, as great as it's shaping it to be, is completely and irrefutably a different type of racer compared to DC/PGR4.

We'll have a second video up within the hour, this one has to be edited a bit to remove the most offensive driving :)
Blim, any chance your team did any driving from in the cockpit of the Mono?
The first video is excellent. The environment/vistas and the car details are amazing... and just the right amount of motion blur in the periphery. 30fps never looks so smooth.

Just watched the snowy race for the first time, it looks ridiculously good!! I know when the new consoles were launched quite a few people were proclaiming that there wouldn't be a massively leap technically but I'm starting to see games now that are without a doubt a generational leap over what we've had before.

That's such a game changer. Variables in weather/lighting/time of day add so much extra to a track that is otherwise always the same and can feel sterile.

Welcome delaying games for the better :D
Now if Dice and Battlefield could learn a thing or two million :|

Umm...
"This is a quite early version of it," Rustchynsky said. "We're sort of balancing everything, so you can expect in a few months' time, when we're really got to grips with the new technology it's going to look even better."

For rally sure, otherwise take your 500+ hp rwd super car in the snow and tell me how that works out

heeheehee

I watched the gamersyde videos earlier. Game looks freaking fantastic. It's come a LONG way since E3 of last year. The delay was justified.

snowy meaning snowing? or the tracks we have seen already with snow on the roadside.

and where did you see this sir?

Another flip of the switch plunges the race into nighttime; the headlights of the racers bathe the reflective cars in bright light and illuminate the rain-slick road – again the racetrack has a different feel to it, and presents an even greater challenge. Once the rainstorm ends, Evolution says that the puddles will realistically evaporate based on the layout of the track and the wind.

Afterwards, the developer starts a race in Norway to show off DriveClub's snow effects. Like rain, snow accumulates realistically and affects driving conditions as well as visibility. At the height of the simulated storm it's nearly impossible to see the other cars on the road, which should make for some interesting challenges that players can create to test their friends.

Evolution says that the weather system will be added to the game sometime in 2014, along with a photo mode – after all, what good is beautiful weather if you can't share pictures of it with your friends?

YESSSSSS

Exclusive press preview. They plan to make some videos for the public after E3.

Looks gorgeous, but I hope I can raise the height of the bumper cam view, when you get close to the back of other cars it looks like your driver is laying on a skateboard, I'm literally looking up at their tail lights.

I really love how the game is looking, but it is a bummer that both weather and photo-mode will be coming "later in 2014" ... still interested though
