Just finished watching the Treehouse presentation. What's with this game? They mention that it is a spiritual successor. Was this originally designed as a 3rd Person Turned Based Shooter MMO set in the Xenoblade world? This is not at all what I was expecting. - Really disappointed with what they have shown this e3.

"3rd Person Turned Based Shooter MMO" describes Xenoblade if you were playing Sharla I guess. What were you expecting? This is Xenoblade 2.

???

It looks exactly like Xenoblade but with better graphics, a slightly different setting, and more jumping.

Damn it. They need to change a lot of shit from the first one to draw me in. Such a mediocre game. I was really hoping for something different (they better change the side quests and hire some voice actors that don't suck).

Firearms were in Xenoblade. Now characters can choose from a variety of weapons/skills it seems.

It's a much-expanded version of Xenoblade's systems. I don't know what else you would be expecting.

Those are the two things most likely to change, IMO. That said, not every game is for everyone.

(I liked the VA the first time around, but it seems like NoA will end up in charge of localization this time)

I saw the Treehouse Live demo and wow I'm blown away how awesome this looks, the world and scenery is like something from Skyrim or Oblivion, or maybe FF13 chapter 11, but much better and more alive.

Sounds like a "try another game" to me. We knew within the first 2 trailers exactly what this was going to be, anyone who didn't see it for what it was of course you would be disappointed. This is Xenoblade 2 with a potential much more "religious" tones story, expecting it to be anything more or even less than that, you most likely wouldn't have liked it in the first place just like many didn't like Xenoblade(and yet come here expecting this to be something it's not).

Where did you get that impression from? I'm genuinely curious.

I will be disappointed but not surprised if I end up in fisticuffs with fictional god again at the end of this game

Wouldn't be Takahashi if there wasn't some form of "god killing" in it, whether it be an actual person who gained higher power at one point or a super machine type thing capable of resetting the universe. First 10secs of that trailer showed me it would be just that when the first mention of anything was about a "god" lol.

I didn't even think about the graphics until I saw you guys post about it here. Very excited for the release, think it looks great either way. If it was slightly downgraded for a better playing experience, whatever, still looks amazing.

The game will likely be amazing. But is it just me, or do the graphics look fantastic at times, and then look like shit at others. Not that it will matter much, Xenoblade was one of my GOTG's last gen.

I never got the "direct sequel" vibe from what we saw before. Could be my fault. But yeah, this game probably isn't for me. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade. Have fun with it!

There's a class system? Goddamn it I love a well made class system, should have checked the stream. Can I read up on this anywhere?

I haven't seen any write-ups, but if you go to 5:46 in the stream video (below), they begin discussing it. Biggest point is that you can change your class on the fly in battle. The main character appears to start off as a "Drifter", but can level up to "Command", "Forcer" or "Assault", and then maybe specialize in sub-classes for each of those?

EDIT: looking a bit closer at the class names (which aren't finalized), I'm guessing one tree is more combat-oriented (either melee or ranged), another is more buff / debuff oriented, and the last is more arts / "magic" oriented (spells like heal, fire, etc.)

Damn...just woke up and still feeling happy for this game. My Wii U will always be waiting for your arrival X :D

Still waiting for doll gameplay footage. Is there any available new gameplay footage involving doll usage (exploration, full battle, etc.)?

I remember some people saying that this was the only "next gen, original and ambitious" game from Nintendo.
lol, it was always going to be Xenoblade 2 (not that there is anything wrong with that :p)

Well it is still original.
Outside of sharing the same basic themes (and the mighty Nopons) of Xenoblade, it is not a direct sequel or prequel to the game.
No more than Xenosaga is a sequel to Xenogears.

Well then. Graphical downgrades be damned. My hype levels... Saiyans are lookin' mighty trife, in the side-by-side.

If anything the graphics look better than ever, the distance pop-in was always there in the trailers too and they never showed up close on the faces.
However, that opening scene with those flying creatures going over the mountains and water looked fucking amazing and no way could have been done like that on 360/PS3. Finally a Wii U game that truly shows dat Next Gen upgrade/look (Zelda U as well).

I'm confused by all the hate for this game. I'm more excited for this than anything Sony or Microsoft has to show. Only game that comes close to matching my excitement for this is Trails SC.

Only part that upset me was realising that Americans pronounce it "Zeen-oh". Never when occurred to me that it wouldn't just be "Zen-oh".

What downgrades, the 40 minute gameplay effectively stomped out any worries about a downgrade. Even though the trailer itself was in no way a downgrade.

Now i really want to know how does this ties to xenoblade 1.

I dont want at the end some vague mention of shulk and company, i want something huge :(.

Technically it is more "ecks~zen oh". But yeah, zeen oh is the rpg rye-you.

For some reason, I was under the impression that the character models were... different, up close. My bad, I guess. Regardless, color me a rainbow of hype over four character parties. This includes infrared and ultraviolet. I am that hype.

Haven't watch the Treehouse footage yet but the trailer was amazing. The game still looks amazing. I wish it was releasing in 2014 but I'll be patient. :) Don't get the hate at all. The hate that showed up after the first gameplay trailer as well was weird. It's like there was a small group of people praising the game that didn't know what type of game it was. Xenoblade was arguable one of the best RPGs of the last generation and THE best JRPG. This is shaping up to be just as good if not better.

The fact that the game's premise is so technically advanced with space ships and all, plus with the presence of a Nopon means that this game took place several hundred years after XC. And it is on a different planet based from the Treehouse guys so we might never see a direct connection between XCX and XC.

For the massive scale of each location, slight "facial issues" I feel is a small price to pay. Everything surrounding "bad graphics" has been nothing but textbook hyperbole.

Ok all my Nintendo hype moved from Zelda to this game and after having watched the treehouse live demo I have to say that this looks exactly like what I would expect from a Xenoblade sequel/spiritual successor, which is good.

P.S. Good that the Nopon will come back :D

As a guy who doesn't own a Wii U, this game looks sweet.

I'd love something akin to the Bayonetta 1/2 package for Xenoblade.

That would pretty much force my hand on a wii u.

Fair enough, another thing ill spoiler:

How is this placed in the same universe as xenoblade, i mean xenoblade takes places at 2 giant em, things? and this looks like its in a planet, has this been explained?

can't wait for the answers of this on the game!

have you finished Xenoblade? If so
we know that Shulk wished for a new world and at the end we see them sitting on a beach with the Bionis Titan half sunk in the ocean,

How big of a freak-out would it be if they did a Bayonetta on this... Xenoblade Chronicles free with XenoCross.

edit: beaten by this much!

I'm much more excited for X than before.

Before there were a few pictures and videos of landscapes and mechs. But now X has shown a lot of interesting characters and plot and other things like that. And I really like it.

I'm so happy about my Wii U. There are so many amazing games like this for it.

It was nice to squash the qualms that this game was going to be some plot-less intergalactic Monster Hunter or whatever weird thoughts people were having based on earlier information :p

Well if XC ending is to be looked at,
the titans were gone after Shulk recreated the world
,

I might even consider this a prequel of some sorts,
the two gods were originally humans from a far too technologically advanced civilization to create a new world and become gods
, but with the Nopon present I think that it continues after the XC timeline
I'm just assuming that Nopon race started as a Bionis' creation
.

That said, can't also wait to play the game to discover the answers!

I remember that. I think people just saw big monsters and assumed it was going to be like Monster Hunter for some reason.

Did anyone else notice the heavier mech/Doll focus in the trailer.

Plenty of cockpit view shots as well. It really reminds me of Gundam, not just the cockpit design but also the emphasis on mech combat and having the characters communicate in them versus stuff happening outside of them.

Makes me very excited to see how much the Dolls are integrated into the story/gameplay.

Do people still think this is an mmo? only people who never played xenoblade would say that.

Game looks great, looks so beautiful.

I wasn't sure if that's what it was going to be. I thought it might be kind of like that.

I tried not to be assuming. But what I saw then didn't quite amaze me as much as what I'm seeing now. I really like this new stuff.
