"One of the core concepts that I've had, even with Dark Souls and Demon's Souls, is my mission and my goal is to make a very beautiful game," he says as the demo draws to a close. "I know a lot of people have a hard time believing it when I say those words, because that's not the first thing that comes to mind. I always believe that there is beauty in darkness. And so with Bloodborne, I feel like the darkness is darker, which means the beauty is going to rise - and you'll be able to really see that beauty out of the darkness."
I wonder if there will be projectiles in the game other than bullets
This is a major issue for me that play as mage first, i hope they will have something equivalent to magic in there
Any hints on that ?
We need a list of Bloodborne questions we've already answered too many times.
- No, Bloodborne will not leave Sony systems and is not coming to a Sony system other than the PS4 in the near future.
- Yes, it is an action RPG and not a pure action game.
- No, there is no fixed protagonist, male or female. You can create and customize your character like in previous games.
- Yes, there are other weapons besides the cleave-saw and the shotgun. In fact, marketing mentioned guns and cleave-saws plural.
- No, this is not Devil May Cry or a button masher. The gameplay is likened to Souls without a shield or magic and with guns that stagger foes.
- Yes, this is an interconnected world and there is no hub. Thank God.
This!I vote to add this to the OP
DS is one of those games that becomes a lot easier on your second play-through, though; once you know where to go, what to skip, etc, you can breeze through 90% of Lordran. And I'm sure the same will hold for BB. Basically, I don't want From making major at-odds-with design choices on the basis of facilitating repeated play-throughs. The maiden experience is king.
Also, is it true he's optional? I have the master key I think.
For those who have any doubt:
Sadly i am a Xbox One owner ... welll, time to buy a ps4![]()
The added emphasis on violence extends to a play style that's another departure from what's gone before. "In Demon's Souls, you were equipped with a sword and a shield, so you could seek out an area and take a passive approach," explains Miyazaki. "But we're going to switch that up from passive to not aggressive so much, but more pro-active ."
Also gives me a huge vibe of this:

As such there's no shield in Bloodborne
This part is not so cool from the eurogamer interview.
No shields, why not at least have the option.....
Even if the combat is more pro active you still woud need shields right ?
Or with active they mean dodging will become more important than blocking.
Or it means it will go easy mode and button mashing.

The guns kinda replace the shields. Personally, I think it will be a little more challenging. Good for us long time souls fans. Especially those who haven't done a no shield run. I think I'll do a "no shield, no magic" run in all three souls games to prepare. Oh, and before panicking at the "no shield" part, remember that the enemies (probably) won't carry shields either.

dual-wielding serves a strategic purpose, whether it's crowd control and counter attacks with your shotty, or using your melee weapon as a light or heavy attack. it's more engaging in that "[they're] going to switch ... up from passive to not aggressive so much, but more pro-active."you're dual-wielding weapons that themselves have dual purposes. In your right hand is a saw that doubles up as a cleaver, transforming from one form to another with a flick of the wrist. The act of transformation is an attack in itself, suggesting that the shotgun in your left hand acts not as a cheap ranged weapon but as a perfect flourish to pepper off a counter-attack. The emphasis might be on the offensive, but it's been complemented by a deepening of the strategic options at hand.
Stealth port begging?
Actually the trailer shows an enemy with a shield. I still wonder if magic is completely gone or if we will see something like consumable blood magic. More crafted buff and less casted buff.
no, saying he gets a ps4 is not stealth port begging
Its optional.
I think the path to the boss starts at the side door where the red dragon is. The door is near the first time you meet solaire.
word, alright - i've got nothing on my plate til Diablo 3 hits PS4 so i'll try to beat him againCapra demon is optional, but don't skip him during your first playthrough. Doing so requires you to skip a fairly sizable, atmospheric chunk of the early game.
Skip him in ng+ if you want, but you really need to do everything in your first playthrough.
That's how I've always defined it. I think just about everybody likes the idea of a safe zone, but definitely not a hub in the sense we're thinking of it. I have a hard time seeing how an actual Demon's type hub could be preferred to an open world that still contains a safe zone - I call them camps or bases.

Mhm thought I was the only one, what an awesome game.

Stealth port begging?
To be honest, hearing that its a lot different to play than DS has tampered my hype. I don't know why every one expects this to works just as good as the Souls gameplay - especially because From wasn't that well known as studio before Souls IIRC.
I'll keep my expecations down until I see that the gameplay is as fun as the Souls gameplay. The mentioning of it being more aggressive is not really helping to up my expecations. In DS2 you had to be more aggressive than in the first two Souls games and it was worse than both especially because of that.
Is there a blocking system in Bloodborne? Tweaked correctly and the shield really becomes obsolete.
They will eventually reach a wall with the soul series when it comes to game mechanics. Either you change it up or just continue going down that path making copycats of that game.
DS2 might be more aggressive but you can slow down the combat to a crawl with shield mechanics

I fucking loved and played the shit out of Nightmare Creatures.
I said stealthHow is that port begging at all?
There are much more mobs in DS2 you had to dispatch quickly because otherwise they'd gang up and kill you.In what way?
I'm less aggressive in DS2 than I even was DS1.
Overall thats all build related though

What if I went into the halo:mc collection thread and said "sadly, I have a ps4. Guess I'll have to buy *insert device*". I'd have accusations of port begging thrown left, right and center. Why even mention the system that you have in the first place?
Pretty sure I dont want to see much else except a release date at this point
Don't want to ruin the experience going in on this one!
I don't overlevel most of my Souls characters, I play harder NG+ cycles as the same leveled character. Therefore, I have to get a little bit better at the PvE every time. PvP is an entirely different animal, and to be honest, Souls PvP has a meta to keep up on like a lot of MOBA's do. It's a different game to me than it is to you, and that is my distinction. The fact that you think that how you are able to beat bosses on progressive NG+ cycles is what I am interested showcases your naivety. It's more about how the meta game of PvP builds, Soul memory, what is your build and how does it deal with overleveled Havel monsters. None of this makes sense to you and that is the point.
Those are the things that I care about, and how they lead toward the next Souls experience. None of that will be seen in NG after 70 or so hours, and fiddling around with the arena. Have you got a character with +15M SM on NG+, do you know how fucking broken the game gets up there? No, you don't, that is what I am talking about not how you were able to grind out a boss on NG+.
You have to put the hours in and see what kind of shit happens when From doesn't properly think out there game mechanics, which is the case with DkS2. Thats what I care about.

Hmm. I'll need to watch it again then. I was very sleep deprived when I watched the conference and have only watched it on my phone since then.
Poetic.
The way he talks about this game is making me think that he wants the player to get really close to the enemies because he wants the game to feel brutal. I don't think hanging back and shooting projectile is going to achieve that sense of brutality.
Interesting, if there are no shields then bloodborne is gonna be a whole different kind of beast.
That would bring a limitation to the gameplay though, hopefully it is not just hacking away like DMC
Using shotguns to stun/crowd control is awesome and what I expected. 2 handed fast roll Souls playstyle 4life. I'm straight up bad if I play with a shield in those games.
yeah. as a tanker, rip me.

What exactly is the appeal to just teleporting to wildly different areas, with no sense of connection between them? I'm not a big "immersion" fanatic, but hubs as they are in Demon's absolutely cheapen the entire atmosphere in my opinion.
