Just had a thought that because the game is using real world locations from America its doubtful we will get a British dub.

Question before I read through this thread: I haven't gotten to the end of the first Xenoblade yet. Is this thread safe or should I get out?

Ah damn, hope notThe British dub in Xenoblade was some of the better JRPG voice acting in recent times.
I don't want to sound like an elitist, but Takahashi himself wasn't happy with Xenoblade's story since he though it was too shounen (typical action anime for boys), and vowed to make something much more grand next.
If you almost fell asleep at this demo you must have been hibernating at Microsoft's and Sony's conferences.
I was watching the Treehouse demo and almost fall asleep. I must be tired of the typical JRPG, but this looked boring as hell.
No thanks to "westernizing" this.GUI needs work, looks dated. Lighting/shading looks more static/baked than expected. Not very impressed with (lack of?) normal mapping. Animation is also rather crude and clunky. I'd rather they simplified some of the geometry/textures and improved those other things instead.
Also I don't care much for the anime elements it has(silly voices, eyes etc). These things make the game more derivative and will ultimately alienate rather than win western consumers. I'd rather they westernized it a bit, like MGS or RE (setting the game in Neo LA is a good start).
But it looks like a world I want to explore.

I don't care if it becomes some mega hit. I want a Monolith Soft game for the insane story and world and that's what I'm getting.

Shit, it even looked uglier to me since the first trailer. The only thing i can still be interested on is that online mode that was teased on the reveal video.

Yeah but it has to be a sustainable business if you want another sequel.
People said the same thing after Xenoblade came out.Well you should care, it'll never get a sequel if it doesn't do well.
I also dislike some of the anime elements, like the mentioned stupid voices and the characters' eyes, but I know I'll get used to them so it's in no way a deal breaker for me.

Check out the 45 minutes of gameplay from the Nintendo Treehouse yesterday - definitely shows a way lot more than the paltry trailer during Nintendo's Direct Event.

And yet here we are....
Where's the demo?So i just watched the 40 minute gameplay demo for the 2nd time and overall i think the game looks incredible.I've spend more than 300 hours in Xenoblade but i can easily see myself spending even more time with this.
Pros:
1)The combat system is basically a revamped version of the one from Xenoblade which i thought was really good.
2)Art style is incredible although that isn't really a surprise.
3)Story seems to have potential and i want to find out more.
4)Soundtrack is awesome.
5)Love that they kept the best elements from Xenoblade like giving you EXP for discovering new areas for example.
Cons (which i think i'll get used to them) :
1)Main character looks lifeless.
2)Movement during battle looks very stiff.
Yeah but it has to be a sustainable business if you want another sequel.

Some of the dialogue made me almost think it was Xenogears prequel
^i meant the first 45 minutes of gameplay footage.
Lets be realistic here. This game could have never been able to set the western world on fire with its sales.Mainstream JRPG appeal is a thing of the past and the WiiU install base is very small.
However i do think that the majority of mainstream western gamers are like sheep. If you market a game long and good enough (something that i think Nintendo is capable of doing) people will eventually buy it (even people that would normally never really cared about it.)There is a chance of the game selling decently.

The treehouse 40min demo goes very in depth but the IGN one has better quality.
Wii U system seller for me here.

I seriously can't wait to defend Neo Los Angeles, the last hope of humanity, from superior beings. I'm getting warm fuzzies remembering the first attack in Xenoblade Chronicles, just the beginning of an epic battle that I WILL win. Great moment.
I've decided I will buy two copies of this game. Gonna do my part.
I actually did fall asleep during the demo (only because I stayed up for Nintendo Digital Event). It was pretty awfully boring, yes. But I can't stress enough that Xenoblade Chronicles was a freaking epic game, and this looks even better.
Or it could just be a game I like. I'll take that instead thanks. F**k westernisation.
Wow, it's amazing how many people don't want a Japanese game to be... Japanese...
hmm, loving all the mecha and scifi story stuff but the gameplay looks boring as fuck to me, was a real let down after that intro to be standing around shooting a helpless pig thing in the ass a thousand times :/
Did Xenoblade on Wii allow you to put on Japanese voice acting with subtitled? I hope that's the case for this one.
Most RPG's start you off killing off helpless thing. Business as usual.
I think he was talking about how much damage the pig can take or something? I dunno, wasn't appealing to me but at least it's something that will obviously go away with leveling up and so on.
Anyway, do we know anything if we're going to be exploring other planets or anything? Pretty sure a text at the start said "prologue: something something planet". Also, a gambit system? They talked about you being really able to customize how you want your other party members to act in battle.
