I must admit I have been underwhelmed by most of what I have seen of "next gen", but this is finally starting to give me a real next gen "wow" feeling if you know what I mean.

I think this is new thread worthy. Or a mod should at least update the OP/title.

I've been happy with what we've been seeing as "early" current-gen games. Infamous especially. There's always going to be that transition period where games look good but there hasn't been anything truly mindblowing to me until now.

Next-gen doesn't start until ND says so.

I am still having a very hard time believing it.
That video is so far beyond anything else shown by anyone so far, and at 60fps 1080p, too? Yeah, i'll remain skeptical until i see a gameplay demo.

I'll be more than happy to eat crow, tho.

Yeah. I'm still calling bullshit but if it's true props to them

Is it? Not to downplay what Naughty Dog has achieved here at all, because it is incredibly impressive, but a lot of the games we've seen this E3 have been very, very close.

No, there is nothing I have seen that is close to U4 at all, not even batman or the order. I legitmately thought it was pre-rendered/CG it was that good, and hell half the people in this thread did. If it's true that the teaser was real-time, they have literally created the most impressive game graphically to date.

Even without the beyond3d report, I've already noted a few pages back that it's just impractical to have pre-rendered cutscenes in 1080p due to storage issues - nevermind the texture assets and audio factoring into it.

BTW the I can't talk about it part implied- I didn't know anything about it. I was under the assumption a behind closed doors gameplay demo was being shown off tommorow and I wouldn't be told about it due to NDA's.
Hahaha, fuck right off with that.

"Guys, there's some juicy details going on behind the scenes at E3, but I can't talk about it ;)

because I don't know anything." /thuway-logic

Batman is close, just lacking the phenomenal anti-aliasing Naughty Dog seem to have. Battlefront is also very, very close although it will undoubtedly look worse on the PS4 upon release.

That said, Uncharted 4 is easily the most visually impressive game of the show, if not all time.

I haven't kept up with the thread (work) but what would say uncharted's/Tlou's pre-rendered scenes typically be resolution wise?

I think other games we're seeing come close technically. But the level of detail and animation on Drake and the environment pushes it beyond. It's not just that they're using the hardware extremely well, they're just better than everyone else.

Yeah I'm biased.

But I was super impressed by Batman and that's a multiplatform open world game. If that was real PS4 footage I'll be super happy with how that game looks.

Batman was very impressive but i would bet my left testie that it was running on beefy PC hardware compared to a PS4. Plus Batman is open world, so theres that.

Well we've had many threads before of people doubting The Order up until recently when they finally showed gameplay. A lot of people thought the original trailer for that game was pre-rendered as well. As we can see from the gameplay video the cutscenes flow directly into the gameplay. Of course many would argue that they had to sacrifice some resolution and fps in order(no pun intended) to achieve this quality.

Yes but even in the original Order teaser there was very obvious aliasing on like the bottom of the train tracks, plus the fact that they said ingame and cutscenes are the same assets, I personally felt it was very easy to believe/understand/see that the Order was in fact legit. But look at the UC4 teaser and look at the tech threads for it, it looks CG, pretty much everybody looking at the teaser thought it was CG, people were bringing up the old TLoU teaser intro message to compare with UC4 because they were so sure it was pre-rendered. Experienced gaffers who are using to seeing CG/pre-rendered trailers of games thought it was just that. If it's true, UC4 is seriously THE next gen game, as it'll be real time in CG quality.
