DRIVECLUB gets actual weather effects, screenshots inside

The word "actual" in the thread title made me crack up a little bit.

Is it supposed to a really amazing feature? I thought other games already had it (stuff like rain and snow and stuff).

People had previously wondered if the only weather options would involve cloud cover and fog as there had been no sign of precipitation. Sounds like they were on to something if weather will only be cloudiness before the update.

Brand new build..hopefully the frothing demand for footage during E3 will persuade Sony to release a short video of the weather

Oh okay, I am not too big a online multiplayer, but I am looking forward to this title.

Me neither, but motorstorm RC had good asynchronous multiplayer, so lots of times to beat based on your friends list. DC will have even more like that, as well as the usual online head to head realtime stuff

It looks like they are very close to the visual level of the reveal trailer:

They need to clean up some aliasing still though.

Holy shit. It's a shame this won't be availabe come launch.

Damn, they even have snow???

This game is getting interesting again, although I am more into FH2 (content, open world, rumble triggers).

The difference is night and day and if someone can't see it, its probably denial. One looks like a good looking game, the other looks like a real life video footage. Its that good.

Lol the car in Forza looks worse than the environment. Am I the only one seeing that? Quite honestly that's what it looks like. Ugh what

I'm generally not impressed by racing games these days, but holy fuck; that is the best lighting and reflection work I have ever seen.

There's something about the lighting in this and Project Cars that flips a switch in my head. It looks right. I don't know what specific things about the lighting are doing it (since stuff like reflections and shadows are old hat in racing games), but they're incredibly close to photorealism.

Well, all you have to do is scroll up a little and take a gander at the comparatively abysmal lighting in that Forza Horizon 2 gif to see what DC is doing oh, so right.

DC's lighting is just beyond natural; it has a softness and subtlety of movement that I've not seen elsewhere. Like you said, very close to photo-realism.

Interviewer: "Driveclub had a great showing yesterday at Sony's press conference.."
Paul: "We weren't there.."

I was watching this yesterday and it made me cringe -_- turned it off immediately and switched to a different DC vid because it was just so awkward lol

Rounding up some of the various videos in case someone missed them.
Thanks for this. Thread gets too big to handle.

I was thinking the racing choices were a little thin, but this and Forza Horizon 2 are really solid. These two gems will scratch that racing itch just fine.

So wait a second....

In DriveClub, Evolution's social racer, weather — which will launch as a free update "shortly after" the game's Oct. 7 release date — is also about getting better and creating your own advantages.

Weather is coming out AFTER Driveclub actually releases? As a free patched-in feature?

What? This totally caught me off guard.

Why not just wait until it's 100% complete to ship it?

The visuals in DriveClub are just out of control. I seriously cannot believe some of this shit. I have a top end PC that can play the best looking racing games on the market, and putting aside the really insane stuff like downsampling the games and including 60fps, this game is smashing all other racing games in every other category. It's insane. I've heard people say Project Cars looked as good before, but they must be tripping.

And deal with another delay meltdown? No thanks. They're saying it'll be patched in shortly after. If you want the game, just buy it and be patient.

Ok, what video is the snow GIF from? I need to see it.
From the GameSpot interview, I believe. http://www.gamespot.com/e3/samsung-stage-1-2014/

Interview + footage starts at around 2:42:00

The lighting is unbelieveable. I mean.. wow. Speechless.
I love the way racing games have evolved. All of the little things we dreamed about 10 years ago are now here. So much attention to detail now. Gameplay options are great. It's such a great game genre.

DriveClub looks to be a solid franchise. There seems to be plenty of room for more depth with future games as well. Love it.

God in Heaven, you could cut that awkwardness with a knife, lol

This newest set of videos is beautiful. I can't wait to get my hands on this. Once again, art over raw technology.

Come on... that legendary scene deserves a better version
Ha! I was trying to keep it mobile friendly, although your gif was a shitload better.

Sad to read a few PGR fans aren't feeling a PGR vibe from DriveClub. Ged Talbot is working for Evolution Studios - for those who don't know Ged was the lead designer on PGR 3 & 4, the criminally under rated Blur and 'played a key role in the development of PGR 1 and 2 plus Metropolis Street Racer' - so expect to feel some PGR/Bizarre Creations DNA in DC.

Yeah, I'm also not a big online MP guy but I'm looking forward to this one. I'm kind of hoping this and Destiny can ease me into it a bit with their approaches to MP.

Hmm... Not sure it's from the gamespot footage as I've seen it before and that snippet wasn't in there.
You're right, got mixed up with the snow track towards the end of the GameSpot interview. What you're looking for may be in one of the vids at the top of this page.

Outside of IQ, I think they've surpassed the reveal trailer. It's been awhile since I've seen it though.
