Just got home from work. So uh, are there any solutions or what. Transistor which was like 4.7gb downloaded within an hour.

Enjoying the game so far, loving the warlock. Will probably be my class because that ultimate is badass lol. Kinda lost looking for missions while exploring though.

The power moves in Borderlands are a lot more impressive than these. Unless they get a lot better as you progress to level 20.

Just had my first world boss, but it was just me and one other guy and the boss despawned and left when we didnt kill it in time.

This game is great, a really high level of polish in an alpha build. Played a bit of multiplayer as well and I feel like people are just running around with the shot gun (my only real issue with the game so far)

I really can't wait for this game. I think FFXIV will fall to this in my multiplayer online rotation. No subscription fee!

Any hints of microtransactiony shenanigans?

Tell me your secrets. Tried stopping it and restarting and I made it worse. Now the update file is taking 40 minutes.

I would have downloaded this via remote PS4 or whatever, but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to do it with my phone. Redeemed the code through the desktop site but didn't see that option.

everyone seems to be playing this. How long is the download typically? I've been downloading for about a couple hours now, and its still sitting at 7%.

is that normal?

level 20 cap for the base game? That's utterly shameful if true...fuck, there are Level 20 enemies in the Alpha level already...

Also, max look sensitivity isn't fast enough.

Not really read through the thread yet to gauge reactions, but wow. I am pleasantly surprised so far.

The marketing hasn't really done this game justice. What I've seen so far has been fantastic.

Hmm. I don't think so. Mine didn't take nearly that long. Should be finished by now as long as you're on decent internet.

Kept going south and found a bunch of mobs with question marks over their heads and proceeded to die instantly. :)

All of the radio beacons? Because there are a lot of them and they all start a new mini mission.

Ah no.I didn't do all of then just the one and beat some wizard thing and it said.mission end and booted me out. Thanks for that. Back to Destiny I go!!!

One question, how big is the world and how far can we travel???

So it seems like a lot of people other than me are having trouble downloading the game?
I keep resetting my reuter and system and LAN, and port forwarding, and DMZ, and all that, and nothing works, so I assume it's an issue with their servers, but a friend of mine who also lives on the east coast downloaded it within 2 hours.

I'm in MD, btw, he's in FL.

Very excited to see the footage from players!

Has anyone uploaded an in-depth video of the character creation tools for the Alpha?

Randomly generated as in they're never in the same spot? Yes. One beacon in one free-roam session won't be the same as it was in another session.

It's like a mini submachine gun. It's, like, totally killer.

I mean more like will they ever run out in a session

Made my way to the other side of the giant wall to the area where the initial reveal video was with all the dead and rusting cars!

Sooooo cooooool......

Am I the only one who feels like this is a Halo RPG, but better? I would like different types of enemies, but I'm also not that far in. It's good, but something feels like I've played this game before twice.

Does anyone feel like that they've played this before twice, in another life? Anyone? No? Nope? :(
I'll get it, just don't know if it will be for console. (yet) :)

I can say this.. I already like it more than Halo.

If you do them all...I guess? But there's a lot. Come to think of it, after I've finished a quest, I've never gone back to the beacon to see if you can summon another from the same beacon.
Max level is 20? kinda low to be honest, I was expecting 40 or 50
It's not confirmed. Nobody outside Bungie knows for sure. Like with everything else, they're probably still tweaking things.

Alright so these are my first impressions.

First off, game looks pretty. Gorgeous art style and soaking with atmosphere, love it. However, at times it can feel rather bland, though that might be due to how much we've seen this demo specifically. Design of enemies, characters and just the world really complements the feel that this isn't just Halo, instead it is Bungie's own world. Great job there.

And that is where my enjoyment for this game stops. Everything else is just...not good. The AI is atrocious and stupid, they will literally stand in one position and shoot without really using cover or doing anything flanky. I had a whole bunch of hive just stand there waiting for me to throw my grenade thing and it felt really stupid to watch. I feel like more movement from them and more varying tactics would really help spice it up, but that might be limited with the controller input and reaction.

The audio is great, but dear god what is wrong with Peter. Usually I love his voice but he sounds so dull and bored, it really detracts from the game's atmosphere. Speaking of atmosphere, the game can sometimes feel really empty, which is not a bad thing but I feel like it forces you to mount up for travelling or else enjoy boring walks along empty corridors.

The layout of the map is pretty dull, a lot of places you just can't go to and some will just inexplicably kill you because you decided to explore. Other places have nothing when you do explore, so it feels useless to go walk off the beaten path. Games like WildStar and Guild Wars 2 did this so well in that moving away from the traditional dirt road gave you great benefits, so its annoying to not see this in Destiny.

Warlock. Holy crap it is bad. You start off with an SMG, Assault Rifle and a Shotgun, all of which you'll end up just using the SMG or assault rifle because they have the longer range and better burst. My "abilities" are very limited, and you can only have them assigned as supers which is super boring. I felt like it was pointless having classes because there is no real class structure, everyone just uses guns. The Warlock super is fun, but takes forever to charge up and you can get swamped so hard that it becomes pointless.

UI is alright, albeit clunky. I don't particularly like controllers and so I'd hope to see keyboard/mouse supported as that would ellevate a lot of my problems with the UI and game interaction being clunky.

Of course these are all my opinions however this hasn't really helped push me to buying it, and honestly it just feels like a mediocre Borderlands but without the fun and some Halo themes thrown in. The big problem I have is that while this is alpha and things can change, nothing as drastic as what I pointed out could possibly change in the three months to launch. The game feels like it could be fun for a bit, but I am definitely not getting that vibe of "yeah, I could easily spend hours playing and enjoying this."

Just finished my first session of Destiny! I played for about 2 hours and hit the level cap in 1.5 hours. I'm rolling an Exo Hunter and am really liking the Scout Rifle, but right now I'm using a Pulse Rifle which has better stats. Hand cannons seem useless compared to the Scout Rifle. They're both semi-auto, but the hand cannon is more powerful but reloads much more slowly and had a low ammo count.

Most of my gear now is green (uncommon), sans helmet and chest. I also bought a sweet new ship and upgraded my player icon. The gunplay feels really nice, and I love that I can summon my ride and zip around the map. I played with another GAFfer, Quint, and Tokyostomp. Quint and I took on a Devilwalker (spider tank) and killed one. Those things definitely take a beating.

I played one round of Crucible and my team won! I only had 7 kills but led everyone in points capped (11!) Looking forward to playing some more with more GAFfers later tonight. Looking at the I -game friend list, almost everyone is a Warlock. Any other Hunters out there?

I did the first mission and it has been enjoyable experience so far. I'll be playing with a buddy of mine tomorrow night so I can see what this game is about to its full potential.

I can do without the chromatic aberration, but whatevs, Bungie is cool.

what is the cap?

did anyone else crank the sensitivity up to 10 still think it's too slow?

I get this feeling of Halo meets Borderlands with the movement. I feel slow at times then fast at others. I think it depends on how you utilize battle tactics.

It's better though. I don't want to play another Halo after this. I'll take more of this.

Okay so i've had a couple of hours with it. Before now i really wasn't interested in this game at all, but holy hell is this thing pure FUN?

Really pretty, co-op is really fun. Lots to do. Multiplayer is REALLY fun too (and i'm generally not a multiplayer guy). Seriously, wonderful stuff.
