Worst update ever.
I think it lines up with what prog said regarding discussing Project M tomorrow in his AMA. There is no way Nintendo is dumb enough to C&D that now but if Nintendo starts putting money into Smash Pots, I don't think its unrealistic for them to ask that Project M not the be a featured game in those specific tournaments.

A bit less than half of my bets were wins. Not too awful.
I'm super disappointed about the lack of Mii Fighters being playable against randoms online. Seriously. They look so much better than I assumed a Mii character would be, and I'm really excited to play as them. It bugs me that they'll basically be considered less of a character because of that.
I hope they find another way to fix the 'unpleasant face' problem. That idea of it being a standard Mii to random people seems like a great alternative.

I imagine scald does damage, perhaps at the expense of some knockback, while pressure (I think that's what it's called) does much higher knockback, maybe pushing Mario backwards, too.

I just noticed that daily.jpg has some new stuff at the end of its URL; "?date=1402640190329".
Obviously a parameter of some kind, but I wonder if you can use this hashcode (since it's clearly not a proper date...) to pull up old images? (The specific number up there should be Palutena in the 3DS Hit the Targets from yesterday; hasn't updated yet.)
I know I've been slacking on posting the clean images, but I have been saving them on my laptop's hard drive, honest. Just been trying to catch up on this thread, but at this point I've basically just thrown my hands up and said "screw it"; this thread's moving waaaaay too fast for me.
Also, I also got to play Smash at a local Best Buy. Don't really have a whole lot to add, other than the line being very long (got there around 5:45, managed to get access to the Wii U around 8:45). I hadn't played Smash in so long, so I kinda sucked at it all - not helped by the fact I just cannot wrap my head around the default button layout for the 3DS and Classic Controller Pro (we went over this in detail prior - I keep expecting basic attack and special attack to be B/Y respectively, but, as you surely know, it's actually A/B).
Smash Run is interesting. Decided to get Sonic out of the way there, so I could try and answer some of the questions I had about the newcomers when I got on the Wii U. I got to do the crystal-breaking minigame, and at least one enemy gauntlet. Getting knocked around in a totally free-roaming stage felt really weird; clearly, I haven't played Adventure or SSE in a while, since I'm pretty sure it was par for the course there, but nevertheless... wound up on the X/Y stage, which was kind of interesting - I thought the platform would remain consistent the entire time, but instead other platforms would come in and out periodically; I think one of them left the stage through the top, taking me with it for an unfortunate KO. Wound up tying for second, with a CPU Little Mac coming in first.
Wii U version was about what you'd expect. Played as Kirby that time, so I could swallow a newcomer and see the transformation. The Little Mac player graciously let me eat him within the first few seconds, toward this end. I assume everyone already knows what Little Mac!Kirby looks like (given he popped up in the Treehouse streams), but if you somehow missed it, think Kirby with Mac's hairdo. Didn't really know how to use the punch to my advantage, and did pretty poorly with Kirby overall, still somehow eking out a tied second place... with the Little Mac player coming in first. (I'm sensing a pattern here.)
Anyway, pre-ordered both games; apparently that (kinda worthless-sounding, in all honesty) special token will be given to me the day the game comes out. A little disappointed I couldn't pre-order the $100 version with both the adapter and the controller, but I suppose I only really need the adapter (I still have a perfectly functional GameCube controller, and could save $20 by not getting another one).
Also saw a lot of VGBootcamp business cards scattered about, but I'm pretty positive I wasn't at the Best Buy the stream was done at.

GameXplain uploaded a video of Kirby copying the powers of each of the playable newcomers. One interesting mechanic I noticed is that the Luma sent out by copied Luma Shot does not stay on the field, but on the other hand Kirby can use the move as many times as he wants. It could be quite powerful.

I remember they pointed out that one of the blocks of the scrolling mario stage moved far away for exactly one farme, then it returns to finish its animation. Like, how do you even discover that.

I feel like everyone treating Mega man as being on par with the other 3 in that picture in terms of popularity, influence, rivalry, etc. is a little weird. He's cool and all, but he's pretty much on par with Snake in terms of third party characters, he's not on the level of Sonic or Pac-man at all. Mega man is replaceable in that picture to me, the other 3 are not.
