I'm curious if people understand the Orbs of Light mechanic that is designed to mitigate that long cooldown?

basically, everything that dies by a super generates these blue orbs that rapidly recharge everyone elses supers. It also helps people stick together since supers will generate more supers.

But very few people understand it. It definately needs to be highlighted better!

I just wanted to post that as well. That's also why the Hunter's super is really cool. It's a great wait to kill some high value targets and get multiple light orbs out of it.

I saw those everywhere last night during battles and thought it was strange I couldn't pick them up. I don't recall but I am assuming now that means my super was already charged and I needed to use it in order to pick those up.

Can't wait to get back at it tonight!!

Definitely didn't know that, so that helps :)

Also found that my supers seemed to cool down quicker when I was in the zone just endless fighting dudes while on Old Russia patrol - I guess it was because I was using my super every chance I got, and using it against packs of enemies at once.

Another aspect of the game I found weird, and don't know if this is a bug or by design, but whenever I would change the secondary weapon I had equipped I would lose all of my secondary ammo. So if I had a full shotgun with ammo to spare and then switched to a plasma rifle I would have zero ammo for the rifle. Switching back to the shotgun didn't help either as it would be magically emptied of ammo as well.

I had that problem too. Fucking annoying.

Yeah, the Hunter special is pretty lame. Warlock and Titan are pretty fun, though. They should really go back to the drawing board on that one.

I've hit level 8 and did missions for a few hours this morning. I still dig the game, but I did find something that needs to be addressed. I was alone in a zone and a public event appeared to kill a Fallen before it ran away. I only managed to get it to about 75% health before it ran off and I failed the mission. The game really shouldn't start public events unless there are multiple people around or just have the enemy HP scale to the number of participants.

Agreed and I would cite FF XIV which has a sound approach public events (called fates). You need to talk to a npc to start a public event in FF XIV which make sense in a persistent game world. As the game grow older, you have less low level players and sometimes a player might be alone in a low leveling zone. The event could be nearly impossible to solo, so might as well have the option of triggering willingly it by choice.

Keep in mind that we are only getting access to one subclass for each of the main classes.
Isn't there only one more subclass for each class though? I'm still really hoping for more powers at once and more power customization. As it is now, every class has a grenade and a melee at all times. Kind of disappointing. I was expecting the Warlock to be more like an Adept from Mass Effect with more shooting, and that's not really what it is.

I've played it for about an hour, but the game just doesn't really "click" with my, despite loving both Halo and Borderlands?

Am I alone?

Help me GAF.

You will never have more than 3 active powers. These powers though can be changed.

Scaling would be nice. Ended up doing the very same thing you did with that extermination target. Ended up just running away until the time ran out.

So I made a conscious decision from that point not to involve myself in public events unless there were other ambient players around. BUT I also ended having a public event literally drop right on top of me once last night.... so yeah, not always quite so simple to avoid.

Bungie is currently applying a matchmaking fix. That's why you can't connect right now.

Follow @BungieHelp on Twitter for information like this.

Can you create a fire-team while you're exploring? Like say you spawn into a patrol with other players or just stumble upon another player running solo - is there a way to group up or invite them?

how do i come accross other players? i never met anyone so far. do i need to change some settings?

You'll just run into them inside certain exploration hubs and of course The Tower. There seems to be a problem with the game currently because I've been in The Tower by myself on multiple occasions and found zones pretty dead. Surely there are enough people playing currently for this not to be a problem.

If you push start and go over to roster I think you can invite players from there.

Maybe open up your menu, go to Roster, and then select them from the right side where it lists everyone in the current game?

Yes. Aim at them and press R3. The prompt show up besides their name. You have the option to invite them to your fire team and other stuff.

Got a notice from the PS App saying I got into Alpha but no code or anything in my download list. Anyone know what I'm supposed to do?

Yes. Target them and press R3 it'll bring out a menu, to send a message, invite to fireteam etc.

Not to be nit picky but there are very few fates that start that way. The vast, vast majority of them just spawn in the same place over and over with no PC interaction. What FFXIV does though is if you're to high level for the level of the fate you're forced to level sync to participate.

If the public events spawned in Destiny based on the number of players there I think you'd quickly see people squatting in large groups to XP/loot farm.

Been playing a few hours now and at first didnt like it at all but after finding some gear and a gun i really liked it suddenly clicked.
There are a few things that irk me though , mobs seem to be in tight litle groups with far too much empty space between groups, going to 3rd person every time you activate a power annoys me and the gun models are massive but overall could be something special on release.

Impressed with the visuals:)

That was a bad idea

Haha, thanks for all the answers.

The way this game is designed, its should be very easy for involuntarily solo players to find groups.

I still like to solo quite a bit, but its nice to know the option to group up is a few button presses away without putting you into some lobby or load screen.

Really wish there was some kind of a map while free roaming. Even just a basic one that highlights just your location and region. I've always been bad at sorting out direction and location from memory.

FoV increase would be nice too.

Overall good first impression since playing it last night. But can't help but think it would be way better if they went all out for current gen and didn't have to use assets for last gen. The snow kind of irritates me both in single and multi player. I wish I could turn it off. Some textures are just horrible. But overall I like the graphics, it just doesn't blow me away. The gun play is exciting, both in MP and SP. The hub, or tower, kind of stinks though, it's very small. It's like they want to have mmo parts, but just won't go all out. Hopefully they expand upon it. Overall I want to play more and explore, just wish they left last gen behind. And hopefully that hub world gets fleshed out more. Would be cool to get crafting, housing and all that good stuff int there.

Anyone else get annoyed of enemies spawning right on top of you during the boss fights? First few times its okay but its like a spawn cycle and it gets old fast.

One other thing I noticed: I didn't hear one person speak. I had my mic out ready to coordinate and nobody was answering me at all. Anybody else see this a lot? I'll have to play with fellow Gaf next time.
