So did someone say that fox was using the japanese voice in the latest build because they probably haven't gotten round to recording his lines with his normal VA or does he actually sound like this?

Because it's awful.
That is his voice in the demo. It's his English Star Fox 64 voice. And I actually really love that we finally, after four damn Smash Bros. games, have it.

It's his new English voice and we're pretty sure it's the same guy who voiced him in Star Fox 64 3D. Here's a comparison:

Smash Bros.

Star Fox 64 3D

Bleh, not too keen on that then.

Still wish they went with the starfox 64 3d design for smash.

I still think angry british fox is the best.

I think I initially said that in the impressions thread, but I retracted that statement when I ended up taunting those next to the Dysons when I left. It really was a big success imo, or at least a much bigger success compared to last year's

I'd love to share an exchange that happened yesterday between a few friends of mine and I. Sorry if its long and formatted weird.

Note: I was off for 3 days for E3 returning thursday.

*friend sees me*

Friend: WHERE YOU IN THAT LINE!!?
Me: What line?
F: The one at the Best Buy in Chino yesterday. There was like a thousand people.
Me: Really? Haha, no I wasnt. You know what that like was for right?
F: I was told it was for a game.
Me: Want to hear something funny? They aren't even buying the game, they are just trying it out for like 2 minutes.

*friend freaks out*

F: WHAAAT!!! NO WAY! WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT!! I'm sorry, I know you like gaming and all but that is just STUPID!
Me: Haha, I doubt there was a thousand people though...
F: No, I'm serious. The line went past 3 stores and it was thick. It was stupid long.

This then later sparked a coversation about smash at break.

*I arrive mid sentence*

Other Friend: yeah I dont think I would wait in line for a game.
Girl standing next to him: Yah me either.
Other Friend: *to me* What game was it anyway?
Me: It was for the new Super Smash Brothers.
Other Friend: Oh...ok, yeah maybe I would stand in line...
Girl: Me too...

That's amazing.

Anyhoo... Has anyone got a video of Viridi appearing in the reset bomb stage?
I wanted to see her in motion but she appears to be missing from all the reset bomb footage I've been able to find. The only nod to her seems to be an audio line of her shouting "The world's better off without you!" before the bomb comes down and obliterates the stage :o

Here you go.

You probably didn't notice it because it happens so fast and she doesn't move at all :(

Ah! Thankies! :D

Wow... that's kinda disappointing. I thought she'd at least be animated :o
I guess I missed her because I thought she'd be on for longer so I was scrubbing through the timeline looking for a big Viridi taking up the skyline XD

~phew~ finally caught up with this thread. I've literally spent all week pages and pages behind due to the E3 hype train pushing it forward super fast :3

I'm wondering if they maybe took her out for the demo because she was killing the framerate? That or coupled with her oddly having a line in Palutena's trailer (as Choppasmith pointed out) I find myself wondering if it could point to something far more awesome (no chance in heck, but I can dream right? :P )

On a different note, I'm not sure why people think sal's leak says that the remaining characters are all we're getting. It's literal wording is...

There's nothing exclusionary in there :/

Lastly, if anyone was worried about the Splatoon girl not being 'iconic' enough or whatever: I don't think I've seen a design generate so much (clean and safe for work) fan-art in such a ridiculously short amount of time: http://splatoon.tumblr.com/
I mean heck, someone's already even made a plushy squid XD
It is exclusionary, just not explicitly. The first leak just showed characters planned for E3, the second was the rest of them, which is still the same for the third. He also says that those are the remaining characters included. He obviously has info from the planning stages, why not list all the characters (he did). Furthermore, analysis of the screen points in all cases towards 47 characters, which is the leaked list without Snake Lucas and the Pokemon. There's no reason to expect more, and several reasons to think that's it.

All right, who drew that stage in Paint?

It's almost like sakurai was saying "oh yeah, you're FORCING ME to put PAC MAN in the game? FINE, but *I* get to choose the stage! Take that!

That and it's probably the most jarring stage you could possibly put in, graphics-wise. No nintendo-made game looks like that.

I really like both of Pac Man's stages. They are so good :)

It makes me sad that a day will come when Sakurai no longer makes these games.

Should I just not think about it?

Honestly, as much as I love smash, the guy is at the top of his game when he`s coming up with new properties. I'd gladly trade more smash for more new stuff from him.

Very much agreed! Reboot Ice Climbers into an action-focused mountain climbing game.

I think I stood in line for something like three hours just to shake Miyamoto by the hand when I was younger.

Are you guys hyped for the 3DS version? After seeing it playing so smoothly I can't help but feel like a little kid for it mostly because I'll be able to play on my job, on my way home and at my girlfriends place!

I just got back from Nintendo World (3 hours ago). Better late than never, ya know? Had to play some Smash!

I played 7 matches on Wii U (because either they can't count or someone was friends with someone) and one Smash Run. The line for Wii U moved pretty fast since there were 3 setups. I was able to go twice in only 2+ hours (which also should've been impossible but whatever). A pleasant experience overall.

Game impressions!

  • This game looks amazing in person! Colorful, vibrant and fluid. Some of the effects reminded me of Tekken, like getting hit by a really strong attack. The animations are the best yet. The 3DS version didn't look too bad, but I don't think Smash Run is a good enough benchmark.
  • It is definitely faster than Brawl! It's not dramatic by any means, but doing things in general felt quicker. Fast falling was the notable one for me; it feels like you can do it earlier than in Brawl, and it's actually fast. The exception to this would be changing direction on the ground. No dash dancing and committing to dashes is a strange choice, but one I can adjust to.
  • Using the Pro Controller isn't as bad as I thought it would be. However, I used a triangle layout for Smash 64 online, so the things I had to get used to the most was A being attack instead of jump and the C-stick being higher. Once I got the hang of that everything flowed well. I still prefer the GC pad, mainly because of the second stick.
  • Regarding the 3DS controls, it's workable. They had XLs so I can't speak for the OG 3DS, but it wasn't great. It wasn't bad either. If you can get used to not having a C-stick, being careful with tilting and grabbing with L (or, ya know, shield grabbing), then you'll be fine.
  • Regarding 3DS gameplay, there's practically no difference save for controls.
  • I wish I could comment on the sound, but it wasn't loud enough.
  • Being able to attack Assist Trophies is funny as hell! I KO'd Waluigi with Little Mac. Livin' the dream.

Character impressions!

1. DONKEY KONG
  • I am so fucking glad they gave him his roll as a dash attack.
  • As a DK main in Brawl, not too much has changed. His tilts are still really good, but his bair seems a bit nerfed.
  • His b-throw is still good.
  • Apparently he can do down-B in the air but I totally forgot to try it out.
  • His up-B recovery (landing, not actually recovering) is improved but I couldn't tell if the armor was still present. I think the last hit knocked people away.
  • Yellow Devil prevented all Giant Punch attempts.
  • He has the same Final Smash, which is still godawful.

2. ROSALINA
  • She has really funky air moves! Her n-air looks like a f-air, and they both look almost like u-airs. It was kinda hard finding out what did what. Short-hopped aerials didn't seem very effective either way. D-air has like no range, or maybe I suck.
  • Her ground moves are solid. Her U-smash isn't too good but everything else has decent speed and range, especially her f-tilt. On top of that, her side dodge is quicker than most.
  • A fully charged neutral B (Luma Crusher) has KO potential, which kinda surprised me. I would've liked some more time to figure out how Luma functions away from her mama, but I wanted to use as many newcomers as I could.
  • Up-b is a good escape move on larger levels. The landing lag is pretty low.
  • Down-b seems super situational and almost useless without items present. If it does anything else, please let me know.
  • I think her grabs are pretty strong, knockback-wise.

3. MEGA MAN
  • Neutral A and f-tilt. Pew pew. Pewpewpewpewpew
  • D-tilt (slide) has range out the ass and great startup. U-tilt (shoryuken) has KO potential, I think more than his U-smash.
  • Crash Bomber is hard to notice in a FFA.
  • I only threw the Metal Blade straight. Seemed pretty weak overall, and easy to catch too.
  • Why is his D-smash so strong?! That thing was killing at 60-70%. Combined with his u-air keeping people airborne, being above Mega Man is a terrible idea (in theory).
  • F-smash seems really good for oki, not so much for murder.

4. YOSHI
  • His U-smash changed! It's a backflip kick now. I almost didn't notice the first time. There are other animation changes to Yoshi that make him feel...Yoshier I guess.
  • I don't know if it was because of Smash Run or not, but his side-B didn't last very long on the ground. I could barely squeeze in one turn-around while hitting enemies.
  • I don't use Yoshi often, so most of his moves and his recovery felt pretty similar to Brawl.

5. VILLAGER
  • I really wanted to plant a tree, but nope. I don't think that move is gonna see much use.
  • D-smash burying people is amazing. It makes his F-smash easier to hit with, which has terrible range. His U-smash isn't too shabby either.
  • I didn't really get a chance to Pocket anything. Oh well.
  • Side-B looks like the most annoying shit ever. Set it and forget it. Good thing it's weak.
  • His dash attack is also a projectile, which is neat.

6. LITTLE MAC
  • Side-B seemed pretty bad normally.
  • They weren't kidding when they said he's not an air fighter. Up-B can kill people at least.
  • Of course, his ground attacks are really strong. All of them. I wanted to see his grabs but no luck.
  • Giga Mac isn't strong enough in my opinion. Give him more range or something, maybe some shockwaves when he punches?

7. WII FIT TRAINER
  • This was the only match I ended up losing! I had a bit of a hard time finding out what to kill with.
  • Her Down-B is actually easy to time. At the invitational it looked harder, but I guess not.
  • I love the angle of the soccer ball. It's perfect.
  • You know what, I just really like the moveset as a whole. Everything just...FITS.

8. GRENINJA
  • Of all the newcomers playable, he was the most approachable. Everything did what I thought they would do when I pressed the buttons. Side-B is the exception. I didn't think to charge it up.
  • He moves pretty damn fast.
  • All 3 of his smashes are good.

It was a fun day. I even told someone about the refurb Wii U for $200 on Ninty's site. That person was "coming back" from 360.

Who was it who said lines would be shorter than last year? :p DaBoss?? Calling you out!
I didn't say it would be. I said it is more likely. Guess I was wrong either way, but I still stand by everything I said about the Smash fandom. Smash fans are blinded by their love for Smash to not realize that there is a majority of Nintendo fans that are not interested in Smash.

I haven't been paying attention to the Pac Man reveal, I know he's in but I still haven't looked at his reveal trailer. So when I saw that last gif I thought the first part of it was real then I thought someone shopped the last part.

Edit: so many typos, dang

The frightening thing is, I can actually identify the guy fawning over his picture of Mega Man as voice-actor Sean Chiplock. (He was in Dangan Ronpa and Sword Art Online, as well as the upcoming indie game Freedom Planet.)

Then again, given the reaction to his FS, I think everyone in the crowd was secretly feeling that way.

Considering Pac-Man is representing Namco's classic arcade history just as much as his own series, its a pretty fitting stage. Its jarring and doesn't look like anything Nintendo's done because its not.

I think I stood in line for something like three hours just to shake Miyamoto by the hand when I was younger.

I did that once, he came to London to do a signing, it was a fun day, met two brothers in the line who schooled me on GoldenSun, but the stuff I learnt from them opened up the combat system for me.
Shook his hand and got him sign my Ocarina of Time N64 cart. Then like an hour after meeting him, me and my friends found an shop that had a single preowned copy of a Japanese Wind Waker (this was literally just after the Japanese release) so I bought it. Best day!

Streaming thoughts about the Smash community during a thunderstorm, apparently.

Funny, because there was a wicked-bad thunderstorm Wednesday night where I was. Clearly, Smash should be associated with lightning.

But not Lightning. Screw her.

That was likely the exact same event. Virgin Megastores on Oxford Street? He signed my A Link to the Past box. Gotta give props to my mother who accompanied me and my friend for the whole duration. But hey, how many people can say even their mother has Miyamoto's signature?
