Destiny Alpha Thread: Impressions from the wild [Code Begging=ban]

I have a group I'd 3 other friends that have always done co op runs of games like the halo 3, reach, gears, etc. And it's really a shame they capped everything but raids and Pvp to 3 and not 4. It's the thing I'm most disappointed with the game.

some of my main concerns with the Alpha so far
first thing ahead i like the game so far, dont get me wrong on that one :)

- insane amount of aim assistant, never played a game with more
- half turnspeed while running, what an odd idea
- slightly less turnspeed while jumping, what sense does that make...
- cannot shoot while gliding (Warlock)
- general movement is extremly clunky, you just cannot develop a proper movement flow because each jump is taking away a noticeable amount of your running-pace
and jumping is required left and right, means you deaccelerate quite often
- gliding is a toggle feature by default on the controller instead of a hold feature, and since i cannot shoot while gliding i need to double click in order to shoot again after a double jump
so much potential wasted if you want to be competitive, wow
- vehicles are too strong and too much on the map
- Special Attacks except for the Golden Gun are a guaranteed "get me out of this situation" card even for the biggest noobs
but seeing how much aim assistant there is even the Golden Gun is an almost guarantee
- right analogstick movement speed is too low, even Halo 4 was faster i think (maximum turnspeed is too low)

generally the aim assistant and the low turnspeed are my main concerns, i dont see why Bungie always goes for so slow maximum turnspeeds in their games
any other modern AAA title uses at least twice the analogstick speed

Made a new character:

By the way, I got the big eyebrow glitch, too:

Something about Destiny's graphics remind me of RAGE from a few years ago. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but when I'm walking around Russia, I can't shake that sense of having seen this before.

Its worth bearing in mind that this isn't a twitch shooter. Either way, try turning up the sensitivity. And I'm sure there will be an option to turn off aim assist in the final build.

Another solution may be to use the Hunter class. It is more agile, the jumps are better (double jumps, no hover) and you can upgrade the jump so you jump higher and can change direction on the second. Eventually you even get a triple jump.

Jump jump jump...

I LOVE this game. I only have 1 problem and 1 request.

The problem I have is the interceptor tank is a bit too powerful.

The request I have is please add more loot chests, the word feels a bit empty

I am sad. Hopefully the beta's got more to it
I think it will. They've said multiple times that they want the beta to have a lot of content, and considering how much they're marketing I bet it'll have substantially more things to do.

Hopefully new areas as well as a higher level cap/more loot.

Anyone know anything about the error code cattle? :( doesn't let me leg into the servers and bungie website doesn't help worth a shit.

I think the FoV is a Bungie thing. I distinctly remember that I had problems orienting myself to opponents in Reach's MP. All the inevitable smack downs you get in Halo felt so bad because I would always lose sight of the enemy and would end up spiining widely in circles to try and find them.

Compunding the problem was how slow you turned. The frustrating part was that adjusting look sensitivity helped a little but it never seemed to sync up with your ability to turn. So you would have to have extremely high sensitivity in order to rotate quicker. I remember Halo 4 came out and it felt much better and natural than Reach.

It is also probably why some people describe Bungie games as floaty. It is probably amplified if you come from a more twitchy FPS. I don't know if Destiny is like this, but I was trying to remember which game it was that shared the same FoV and "floaty" description that people have been saying about Destiny -- it was definitely Reach.

Maybe one of you guys can help me, someone was nice enough to give me a code. I entered it on the playstation website and everything was good to go but on actual PS4 I dont see any options on where to download it. All I see if a notification welcoming me to the alpha, don't see it in my library or anything.

edit: I got it!, today is not my day it seems.

Have you checked your Library?

Edit: Wow I need to learn to read.

Umm. I'm really not sure, I input my code from the PS4 itself. Tried queuing a download from the site or the app?

No I've seen it too, it's pretty bad. It's been pulling me left and right in crazy amounts. They'd better have an option to turn it off.
