You have chosen...wisely.

I'm ALL about the Warlock.

It's his crouching tiger jumps - can't get enough of it.

Urk, it's sublime. Really, even better than I expected (and I was expecting much).

One thing though, please please please get them to sort out hip firing. You can't give us all these wonderful new movement abilities and then insist we stand still to fight.

Keep it moving!!!

I said basically this earlier and no one understood. Tons of console gamers are pretty fresh to the mmo style so it seems really cool. I'm luke warm to the game because the Co op is fun and it's a good shooter but the missions and design of the game itself is super generic to me. My friends all think it's amazing but they don't pc game at all.

This really is just the same old mmo game design with higher production value
somewhat dull being honest.

something also feels odd i don't know what it is but its a dullness.

Like
Get Mission go kill 10 dudes
Get Mission collect 10 items

Over and over.

New Place

Again.

I know people have commented on these already, but in Explore mode, the beacon missions are only in place to point you in a direct and let you go, and to give you some larger XP dumps while out running around; the main point of Explore mode is to, well, explore. They (supposedly) aren't meant to be a large chunk of the actual content by any stretch.

You're actually supposed to level up quite quickly by doing the main campaign missions in the retail release, so I don't think you need to worry about having to do "fetch quest grind" to level up.

Gunplay feels super good, much better than previous Bungie games.

My main concern for the game is that it will be very reliant on there being other people around you in order to complete content. It felt overwhelming playing solo in terms of enemies and their difficulty. Especially when I was up against a group that were higher levels then me.

Hopefully it will be a soloable game in the full experience.

Is there any gear in the alpha that can get the Warlock's cool down time low? Everything I've found has been tiny at best. Class will be fun as hell once you can use space magic all the time.

There is a different double jump for Warlock eventually, right? Not a fan of the glide.

Anything which lowers your discipline will increase the cooldown. I have 2 items that have it increased to 19% and it speeds it up pretty nicely.

Edit: Oops, Increases discipline, not lowers.

I started with the Warlock, but the Hunter grew on me mainly because of the double jump and grenade. Only thing I don't like are the helmets. Compared to the Warlock, the Hunter helmets are laaaaame.

Exactly. Double jumping as a Hunter and accurately shooting enemies? Yes please!

Also, I don't know if it's that the servers are getting hammered now or something, but I noticed last night that the game hasn't been phasing people in as frequently. When I started my character on Tuesday, I immediately had 3-4 people phase into Old Russia near me, whereas when my friend made a character last night, he only had one person running around.

I asked this last night and nobody responded:
Is there a way to use gestures while playing through remote play?

I think I saw someone earlier in the thread post that it's the d-pad together with the corresponding face button. Have not tried it myself, so I don't know if it's right.

Intelligence reduces the cooldown for your super.
Discipline reduces the cooldown for your grenade.
Strength reduces the cooldown for your melee special (for Hunters, you can use a throwing knife, but after you use it you can still stab with your regular knife)

I have a total of 30 INT on my Hunter, so my Golden Gun charges up fairly quickly in PVE. 3-4 large groups of enemies and I'm charged up.

You have chosen...wisely.

I will be switching from hunter to Warlock.

PvP wise it just doesn't compare.

You shoot three bolts of energy that instakill in the splash damage, all while being invincible

Whereas my little solar gun you point aim and if you are lucky, kill.. Not invincible.

I like the Warlock class but their armor styles suck compare to the Titan's. That and my redhead Titan is a freaking tank compare to her Warlock sister.

Levelled up to max with the Warlock. Really enjoying it from what I've played today. I did a strike with 2 others which was really cool. Can't wait to see more. Bring on September (or rather July for the beta).

I picked Titan first just because it's the one I have seen played the least .. what do you all think of the Titan class?

Tossing a flashbang grenade and then using their Super is a great way to clear a room. I just got an Uncommon shotgun with fire damage that I can't wait to use.

The Titan class is too "heavy" for me if that makes any sense. I feel way too grounded.

For me it's Hunter > Warlock > Titan

This game can be so pretty...

(I've only played this for 2 hours yet)

So titans have hip cloth. Warlocks have a armband. Hunters have a gat dam cape. Well it's more of a hood and then cape later. Seems like hunters win in special items. Hopefully warlocks have some cool armbands. Titans seem to have nice hip cloth/sash things at later levels.

I like all the classes. I also think all of them seem to be viable and will be useful in different situations. I would probably play a Titan in the main game if I wasn't so much in love with the idea of a space wizard. Otherwise I like the idea to get up close and personal and I assume the Titan will be great for that.

Went exploring - If you go down the green crystals-lit corridor in the 'fight 3 waves of enemies' area from Strike (It's called The Refinery), you get to an amazingly beautiful cave called The Grotto.

Filled with ?? enemies? Fuck you guys~! Went parkour on their asses, the Grotto opens up to another little outside area and a weaving canyon that connects to the Forgotten Shore (the ship cemetery place).

Wonder if that's the whole Old Russia. (with the car cemetery place and a few more 'dungeons') If it is, I think I'd be fine with it, as long as there are many many areas like that in the final game, feels like just enough to explore and appreciate an environment.

I don't have many psn friends and am loving the alpha. Send me a friend request because I want to play this game a lot with friends when it comes out.

Wait a sec, the Warlock's super has invincibility frames?

Doesn't matter, I'll always main Hunter. Double triple jump, speed, knives, summoning a gun made of gold, and a sweet scarf. And I've found that sniping from mid/long with Golden Gun works really well. I can clear out an area so my teammates can jump in and cap. Flanking around corners work well with it, too.

I'd probably make Warlock my alt, though. But their armbands look too small to stand out.

I'm simultaneously looking forward too and dreading the arrival of the beta.

Its like, great I can play the game before it releases officially

But its also like, shit - Im gonna level a character and eat up all this content (which we can assume will be nearly the complete game, or at least vastly more content than this alpha) - and then do it all over again upon release - most likely losing all my progress

Warlocks have cool trenchcoats!

I could understand that. I just reached Level 8 for my Titan, so I'll be starting a new character soon to get a feel for all of them.

I do really like the armor designs for the Titan too.

The grottos past that seems to be a high level area me and friends could not venture in. What other neat areas have people found?

I think this connects to that huge hive cave system below the refinery in the rocket yard. Lots of scary high level guys down there.

All the little hidden nooks make me think the full game will be very exploration friendly.

PvP is really fun. The moon level especially. Love the Halo feel with the addition of sprint. I also like being able to summon the hover bike at any time.

I think at least 60% of the GAFfers on my friends list are Warlocks, the rest Hunters, and then a small handful of Titans.

Like I said before there seems to be an abundance of Warlocks and Hunters in this Alpha and not many Titans. I fear for the population of the full game, but then again it already is like a real MMO, nobody wants to be the tank.

Yeah, explore mode isn't the main source of leveling even if it's somewhat viable. As you progress forward, you will have more variety in term of sidequest. Since it's the first game in the franchise and Bungie is just trying their hand at the mmo genre, I expect rather basic mmo type quests. I certainly don't expect the type of subquests that are available in the modern version of WoW (Blizzard has years of experience in perfecting the design of their quests).

Not to mention that basic quests are a staple of every mmo game out there including recent mmorpg such as Elder's Scroll online, Wildstar or FF XIV. The balance between the campaign missions and the exploration zones is probably what is intended as far as progressing toward the max level (unless you level exclusively from competitive multi).

Finding this much better than I was expecting, shouldn't have underestimated Bungie.

So damn pretty, and fun to explore around with a friend.

Wich class do you think is the best?
I like Hunter double jump but i'm not an sniper user.
Aldo Warlock special seems a lot better :/

For me it's a visual thing. I wouldn't mind tanking, and the Titan has a good super, I see people regularly get triple kills with them in PVP. But I'd rather wear a cool hood/cloak than look like Master Chief.

Any class can use any gun, so if you want to use an Assault Rifle and a shotgun as a Hunter, you can. The Warlock special seems better because it can target multiple enemies, but Hunters move a lot faster and their double jump is quicker than Warlock glide.

Played competitively for awhile last night and I 100% agree... that moon level is pretty damn cool.

I can confirm that Warlock special is indeed awesome.

Agreed.

They wouldn't have to remove ADS or anything, just remove the accuracy penalties. Jumping and/or not using ADS should have no effect on your accuracy, epecially in a game that has so many cool movement options.
