PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

Dammit. New Phantasy Star Nova stuff streaming live and can't see it because no premium account :(

Oh fuck. I forgot. If you get a Nico Premium account is there some sort of service that will email you about a live stream one or two days before?

BRB, F5-ing Alternator's blog or GamesTalk blog.

For PSNova, they showed the in-game character-creation menu, and it did look super good. However I'm guessing it looked too good so that it may end up either toned down a bit from what I've seen or become non native res.
As for real time game play they want to get ready something to show until the caravan ends (at Aug 16th).

Post of you find anything :)

Believe in Vita's secret sauce. It works on Freedom Wars, despite the battery drain.

I keep getting this "error has occurred in the OS, vita will now restart" nonsense whenever I try booting up a PSP game.

restored it and formatted the mem stick 4 times already

welp

Yay some good vibes there! , im less sad now...

It's not good or bad vibes. We now know what happens when Sony releases a product and it doesn't sell well. I'll never be a day one supporter for any of their devices due to this.

For that reason, I wouldn't get Morpheus unless it sets de world on fire.

I have no confindence in Sony Computer Entertainment, despite having owned every console they've releases outside the PS4

Is this the closest thing we have to a Vita OT? I can't find another.

What determines at which time the system does its save uploads/update downloads? Mine has been doing it only every few days now even when I make a point of making sure there are no programs open when I put it to sleep and I can't see any pattern to it. I need the security of knowing that if I get mugged today I only lose limited progress.

I know Gravity Rush is supposed to be pretty repetitive, but these first few hours make me feel like im in a Miyazaki movie...what a fantastic mechanic

I think you can see that in Settings, just like in the PS3. I'm not 100% sure though.

Well since this was originally the VitaGAF thread before the amalgamation, yes. I don't check in on it much, but the PS Vita PCH-2000 thread seems to be the closest alternative.

I recommend picking up the DLC now because they fit naturally within the narrative of the story as opposed to being set post-game.

Also watch the developers playing the game. People who find the game cumbersome should watch just how fluid the game can be in the hands of an expert.

I got the gravity mechanic down pretty well....double tapping R is the way to go
EDIT: Daaaamn how do they get the hop after they land?

Haven't played the game in awhile, but I seem to remember using different combinations of Stasis field, jump, and evade just before landing to cancel out of crash landings.

I loved the game, got the Platinum (which means I got a gold medal in everything), but never thought about using the gravity kicks that way :O

tried playing MGS on my Vita
for some reason, I'm not feeling the game at all.

and I'm bad.. like really bad with it - any tips on how I should approach this?

I never had so much fun just traversing a game world.
I also don't see what makes it more repetitive than most games out there but whatever.

That must be why I enjoyed the hell out of it (enough to platinum it, 100% the DLC and go back every now and then) while my cousin thought it was "slow". I'll have to point out the "shortcuts" and such to him - thought they were obvious.

thats the way to play the game , gravity kicks , canceling and rerouting the gravity field is the best way to go. I understand some people is just not good with the game but the mechanics where never a problem for me. Even fighting was challenging this way. I dunno. For me the best game (exclusive)of Vita is GR but thats just me and my subjective point of view.

I feel like Gravity Rush probably fell short of the potential of its inherent gameplay mechanics due to the limited variety in which those mechanics were utilised throughout the game. In addition the heavily compressed narrative that ends with many threads left unanswered probably did leave most people a bit wanting.

All the same though it is everything else about the game and the thought that those flaws will be fixed that has me so excited for the sequel.

Just played the Freedom Wars demo and wow, it looks great.

Every other Vita game I've played had some sort of un-clearness to it (Gravity Rush, UC, P4G, Soul Sac) but Freedom Wars looks so clean and nice.

Those games had subnative resolutions so no wonder they look a bit grainy. FW though looks quite clean except for the aliasing.

Just ordered a vita (OLED version) because I'm traveling quite a bit by train at the moment :)

Now I get to play Sly 4 and Muramasa: Rebirth (through PS+) whilst traveling. Anything else I should try out (apart from Tearaway)? Is Uncharted: Golden Abyss any good?

Disgaea 4 Vita was rated by ESRB, I love this quote
“You're so flat, they use your chest to measure if a shelf is straight!”

It certainly can be enjoyable and I found it more varied than the first Uncharted. However the story isn't really worthwhile and touch-based QTEs ruin the pacing of the game. It's nothing to write home about.

What games are you into?

I have a very important question regarding PS+, PS4 and multiplayer.
My Japanese and EU accounts both have PS+. I want to buy Destiny on my US account (without PS+) and I'm wondering if I'll be able to use the multiplayer features of the game when playing on my main, Japanese account.
Didn't have any problems with doing that in the Alpha - added the code to the US account and played on my Japanese one.

Edit:
Never mind, yosp just answered me on twitter:
if your PS4 is the primary console of your JP account

Obvious Persona 4:Golden Recommendation ;)
Welcome to the Vita family!

Danganronpa and Demon Gaze!

Spelunky. Portable cocaine. I mean, cocaine is portable but... you get the picture.

All of the games mentioned so far along with Soul Sacrifice Delta. It's my GotY so far this year.

I didn't like Uncharted too much. The touchscreen and gyroscope gimmicks were extremely annoying for the most part, and I usually don't have any problem with touchscreen control in games.

Golden Abyss is good. The story isn't as nice as in the homeconsole titles (Chloe > Elena >>>>>>>>>>>>> Chase) and it kind of feels like a "better" version of the original gameplay wise.

I say "better" because gyro aiming is amazing, "stealth" isn't utterly useless like in the original Uncharted and it doesn't suffer the wave after wave problem in Drake's Fortune (same area, 3 waves of dudes coming from different angles). Chapters are shorter than in the homeconsole titles but there are more than usual.

Enviroments are as diverse as they're in the original Uncharted. You'll go through a jungle 2 times, fight in some secret base and two sets of ruins that are fairly different from each other. Setpieces aren't that impresive, but they weren't in Drake's Fortune either.

I'd say the game is quite good, I really liked it, I got the platinum. Give it a try.

after buying a PSP off of a friend I finally got around to play valkyrie profile lenneth. I'm currently in chapter 3 - game is amazing so far although I find it much too easy (playing on normal). I'm winning boss fights in the first round and one-hitting every normal encounter so far. Hope the difficulty will increase as the game's combat and rpg mechanics seem really deep.

So I joined VitaGAF on impulse yesterday but none of my PSone classics work on the thing. Why must they not allow my R-Types and Delta to be played on it?

i actually really liked Uncharted GA despite hating the stupid gimmicks like you. I hate when devs force gimmick mechanics just because they want to showcase the system's features. Give me the option at least.

Hard Mode is the easiest difficulty.

Not sure if Easy is the hardest, but I'd say yes.

And no, I'm not drunk.
The difference between the three is the amount of stuff to do, with Hard mode having the most. The rewards you get from them will pay you back, thus making Hard mode the easiest.

Just tried to play Dissidia 012 on my Vita and... what is this? I'm finally able to play this game on action mode without wanting to kill the system! Using both analogs changed everything to me.

Hey, at least there is nothing as awful as the "gyro" granade throwing in Drake's Fortune. I'm replaying this game and it's really bad.

I can't use the "quick" granade throwing you can use in U2 and 3 (L1 + Granade button) and when you aim where to throw them you leave cover.

The Dissidia series sold a lot for Square-Enix, I don't know why it's been three years without a single hint of the next game.
