Final Fantasy 5 Four Job Fiesta 2014: That Classic Taste [now ending]

Doing a random run. My first job is a white mage. I'm pretty sure Gilgabot has given me a white mage every single run I've done. Anyway, slow but pretty easy for the most part, no deaths. Hit the water tower and got red mage which is new for me, yay!

After that I grinded on wild nacks for a bit and bought what I needed in Karnak. Then I stopped by the ship for the night. I hope I don't get blue mage; I'm really not in the mood to look for spells.
 
I think it's against the spirit of the game to get your jobs in advance. It allows you to plan ahead.

To be fair I'm doing a classic run and my jobs were automatically unlocked for me. Please don't judge me Man God!

So with the classic ruleset I just assign all my jobs right away. I don't know what to do with one thief. Hopefully two will be doable.
 
Knight seems strangely common this year.

Neato. People in years past have just spammed all four jobs out in quick succession though to plan ahead, didn't mean to accuse anyone of wrong doing. Good clarification on the Red Mage as well.

Also noticed the warning against using "powerful" equipment during natural runs.

Good idea considering how easy it is to spam healing staff, use ribbon, break rods,kill everything with Asura, etc, etc. Makes it a bit too easy.
 
My last job is Dragoon and it's the first time I get it. The final party is: Thief, Berserker, Ranger and Dragoon. I have two ways of using the chicken knife so I guess that's good.
 
Starting with Knight. Don't think I've been assigned that one in the previous fiestas.
 
So uhm, liquid flame with white Mage and berserker... I guess 3 white mages?

Any tips?
Berserker is pretty much going to be your damage source. The rest should be on deck to heal when LF counters.

Eventually the hand and whirlwind forms will run out of MP, so it's just a matter of attrition (they don't have much anyway).
 
Had to go to bed before I hit the Tower of Walse last night. I just ran through it, and MAN, Garula is such a pushover with 4 two-handed knights with longswords. I'm so used to plinking it down with Thieves and having to worry about taking damage.

Drum-roll for water job....... Red Mage! Another new class for me, so yay. At least it's a little bit of magic and healing.

I got Thief even though I didn't twit anything. Oh well.
 
Did a bit of Hi-Potion grinding. Got 40 and my party is level 16.

Not too hard with all those Hi-Potions. Managed to run him out of MP in Tornado and Hand Form.

Got a bunch of Elixirs fleeing from Gigas, also Ribbon, Elven Mantle and Main Gauche.

Luckily killed Iron Claw before he could transform. And my next job is...

RANGER! Awesome!
 
I always forget that the squids and octopuses in the canal prioritize attacking the girls.

EDIT: Wow, someone rolled 4 white mages for the classic run. That should be interesting.
 
White mage and black mage so far on my random run. Pretty solid so far, if a little bland. Four white mages makes bosses sloooooow.

Despite my early problems, this group is pretty solid. One of its redeeming qualities was how easily they killed the crystals thsnks to the instant death weapons and getting Hayate Bows early.
 
Oh, we're starting?

Not sure if I want to start now or wait until I get back. Leaving tomorrow for a week. Can't have a fiesta start without me going on vacation.

Do have the GBA game so I could play it while I'm gone, but then I can't do my traditional victory screengrabs...

Maybe I'll do a normal run or pick my own set of jobs to use and do my real run when I get back.






Edit: GILGABOOOOT. Monk. Again. That makes 4/6 times (excluding a 750 run).

as my wind jobs, so far since I started FFJing.

Today I've learned to not doubt Gilgabot's wisdom. This team is surprisingly effective and Equip Bows has sinergy with everything. Thanks to the extra Hayate Bows and Reflect Rings provided by the thief the fight was finished pretty easily even if the Vaccum Waves kept killing my characters.

All praise the archer tiger.
 
Blue Mage/Berserker/Ranger

I don't remember when do you get the ranger job, is it after the library?

Yes, it's a little further, you have a couple more bosses. Blue should make it relatively painless though. Unlike, you know, a Thief.


I think I'm going to play some super awesome broken party before I do my actual run. Because I'm going to have Monk and at least one Berserker, and knowing my luck Gilgabot is going to throw some blah stuff at me again. Thinking Blue/Summoner/Ninja/Samurai.

Again, still nothing I've never had before. Hoping for Chemist or Samurai just to say that I've finally had them.

Oh hey, you get a different scene at Tycoon if you don't visit until after you get the airship. Cool.

Actually, you can get multiple scenes if you visit several times in World 1, as the game's plot progresses. I think there are at least three.

Anyways, I'm getting my butt kicked so far. What happened to the monks dominating world 1? I feel like I'm under-leveled. And my second Job is Red Mage, which means that I have half of my brother's team from last year. I'm not looking forward to World 3 at this rate. Here's hoping for something cool from the Fire and Earth crystals.
 
I'm so sorry. At least world 1 is going to be a cakewalk.

Pretty sure I've had a Monk in one run before.

Makes the first few bosses cake.

Siren and Magissa went down like chumps before they could do much of anything.
Garula was VERY close. Had everyone Focus on him, but only Butz managed to survive with only 20 HP left.
(And that was mostly due to some lucky Evades with the Elven Cloak.)

And my next job is...Time Mage!
(Time to wreck Time/Space and drop Meteors on people.)
 
Thief and Berserker is a beautiful thing.
I think Gilgabot went overboard with the Berserker assignments this year.
Literally every Berserker Risk-Random player has been given two of them. At least one has even three.
Not so much fun in developing random synergies if you know three of your eventual party members right out of the gates and two are identical.

But I suppose that's what I signed up for. I'll try to act surprised when I get my two Berserkers.
All sorts of happy I bagged a Thief to give them the Artful Dodger assist in this run.
Hoping for a decent magic user in my Fire Crystal spot to supplement things.
 
Well, given the number of Berserkers and the number of Berserker Risk players, some people were definitely going to get two. On top of that, you can easily get three if Gilgabot assigns you a Berserker separately from that.

I only got one, so mileage may vary.
You weren't on Random, I'm guessing? 'Cause I haven't seen a Random yet who dodged a second Zerk.

Just bested Garula with my all-Thieves squad. Quite proud of myself to have gotten by without burning either a Tent or Phoenix Down yet. Waiting on Gilgabot to grant me my first Berserker so I can jet over to Karnak.
EDIT: And Gilgabot is very timely in responding.

Nice thing about playing this run on Android is that 'Zerkers have been pseudo-buffed. They no longer attack at random. Front-row enemies first, back-row enemies last.
 
So my third Job is... A Mystic knight? I guess I can win on the strength of my jobs alone, however there's nothing to do other than give !White to everyone :/

Monks kinda start to fall off a bit once you get to the 2nd World.
They pick up again a bit in World 3 once you get Kaiser Knuckles, but that eats up an accessory slot.

It also doesn't help that their armor selection is rather limited, so despite having lots of HP and Strength, they don't get a lot of the more defensive armor like Knights or Mystic Knights.

(If you have a Chemist, you can boost them up a bit since Fists attack power is dependent on level.)
