Where would you rank the Switch now that end is approaching?

Well?

B-tier

nes, snes, n64, and gamecube were better/cooler
switch relied on a lot of wiiu games, but had some good new stuff too. bonus points for somewhat interesting hardware.

Not much of a Nintendo fan after the N64. But i can recognize it's impact and the quality of their games. A Tier. Hopefully the 720/30fps days are gone with the Switch 2.

What a come back for Ninty. After the Wii U things were looking grim, but they successfully consolidated their home and handheld audiences and went from success to success. Good on them.

Too many WiiU games. Barely new IP or first party original games. You'd think they wouldve went full force after ditching the 3DS but nope. B for me.

Didn't own 1 and have no interest in doing so I wont vote base on that.

But my reasons are.

1. Not interested in Nintendo games none of them.
2. 3rd Party games is not what I would buy a Switch for when PS5 exist

B, perhaps. Insanely underpowered, but I just discovered Bayonetta Origins the other day, and that game is truly amazing. Made me pick up the console again.

Was super hyped pre launch and quite satisfied during the first year. It quickly fell off after that. Ergonomics, battery life, OS and services, the horrendous ethernet adapter inside and the general performance across games left a sour taste. Overall i liked the Wii U better.

It is an S tier console up there with the greats of all time. And the games it has are what help make it so good.

It is up there with ps2, game boy, nes, snes.

Best portable console Ever. S tier.

Best nintendo console since SNES.

Yes as Home console sucks but for that is PS5.

I would give it a B+. If it had more first party new IP and better third party support I'd give it an S.

I agree with the new IP part but there's over 50 new first party games on Switch. I'd say that's a lot.

B

Mainly liked it because it is the only modern console that is not a PC. Straight to the point, like a console should be.

But it is super weak and a ton of games look awful on this thing, so you have to constantly check before buying anything.

Wii U was a much bigger step forward for Nintendo, pushed them into HD territory and it was great. Allowed them to catch up with the other manufacturers and get decent third party support.

Switch pretty much had them stay at the exact same level in terms of output, so the majority of multiplats suck on this hardware. Even indies like Dead Cells have issues running at 60fps...

A-grade for me. The hardware limitations hold it back from S, but it's been a highly successful console. Not my cup of tea (I liked BotW, though; would've liked more Zelda remasters). But it certainly struck a chord.

Looking forward to Switch 2 reveal next Friday. I doubt I'll get one, but I'd like to see what they have on offer.

I was trying not to vote S-Tier, but I couldn't do it.

The Switch has cemented itself as one of the top 3 consoles of all time.

Any vote otherwise would be delusional. 😆

S Rank first couple of years and then went downhill significantly for me personally. Especially as a Wii U owner. It felt like most of the best games was stuff I already played/owned to some degree. Switch 2 will be interesting because they can't port switch 1 games. Meaning they really need to bring their A game when developing first party titles from scratch. And big expectations have been set for casual Nintendo fans who bought into switch in a big way.

One of the best and most unexpected aspects of the Switch for me was how good it was as a portable console. No, not a handheld… I travel a lot and visit a lot of friends and family, and once I bought a little mobile dock/hdmi adapter thing, I realized how incredible it is to be able to easily transport a full-ass console wherever I go.

I've had so many impromptu Mario Kart and Jackbox sessions, and it's been great being able to pick up where I left off on any games, but keep them on a big screen.

I've used the Switch probably 10x as a portable console than I have in actual handheld mode.

And for anyone wondering, this is the adapter I bring with me everywhere. I works with my MacBook Pro charger, so the whole setup is just insanely portable for me.

Does that output video from a Macbook with HDMI also?

I assume you're talking about the games that are already Wii U ports. No point in porting them to Switch 2.

How good will the BC be on the Switch 2, I wonder.

Great system, I love playing games on it...but I feel like the reasons I like it has little to do with Nintendo software. It's a Nintendo console that has the least amount of Nintendo games I like. From certain people, I always see the comment "buy nintendo systems for nintendo games" and that couldn't be further from the truth with the Switch. I own over 350 Switch games and at least 75% of them are third party.

There are some good Nintendo ones for sure, but...a lot of them feel forgetable to a degree. If I wanted to play a Zelda game, I feel like I'd still rather go back to Ocarina, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, or hell even Link Between Worlds. Breath of the Wild was still good, but I really don't think I like Tears of the Kingdom. Echoes of Wisdom was also one of the first Zelda games in a long time that I just put down...lost interest fast. If I wanted to play a Mario game...I'd rather play Super Mario Galaxy, Mario 64, or Super Mario Bros 3, or Super Mario World. There are good games from them on it for sure, but then there are a lot of...just feel cheap games. Their sports entries still feel not as good as the ones that came before like with Mario Golf, or Tennis. Princess Peach Showtime was sooo cheap feeling...I know I might not have been the target audience, but I know they can do better.

Those are just some examples, but it's kinda my feeling on what they've been doing with their software. They made a great hybrid system, but I feel like they could've done better with their games. It became too much like they knew their shit would sell, so they didn't need to try hard.

Yea but also just uniquely switch titles because so many people have played those games and also BC. Honestly I'm expecting full bc. Hopefully some games with more open fps will benefit from the more powerful hardware. Here's looking at links awakening!

It was no SNES, but nothing ever will be.

I thought it was solid, but lacked some of the innovative features (due to the hardware) of the DS/3dS.

The DS/3ds was absolutely fantastic. I enjoyed it more than the switch.

That's been one of the best things about it for me. I bought a Genki covert dock when they did the kickstarter and it was a game changer. I toss my Switch and Pro controller into my backpack and I can easily connect it to the TV in the hotel and play, plus the covert dock has USB so I can charge my controller. It's so versatile. I also use it to connect my iPad to hotel TVs to stream tv shows and movies.

A tier console with some S tier games.
Coulda been an S tier console with a mid-gen refresh. It's grossly underpowered for anything released after 5 years ago.
Also the pokemon company needs a swift kick in the arse to increase their production values. One of the worlds BIGGEST franchises and their mainline games look and run like total arse, it's mindblowing.

Floats between a B and C for me. I thought Nintendo's own output was pretty poor, the QC and hardware are abysmal, its a great retro game machine but I have to plug in a GC controller to get a decent dpad, and it's absolutely shit as a portable device. I do love a lot of the third party stuff though and Nintendo backing off the excessive censorship, for the most part, was nice to see.

It's basically fighting with the Gamecube for my least favorite Nintendo console.

I have to put S but simply based on the number of games I ended up owning on each platform. It sits #1. Not just thanks to Nintendo but also third parties.
No further special reason.

S-tier for the 4 Xenoblade Chronicles alone, but the game selection and portability has made it absolutely in the running for one of the GOATs.

I voted A. I've had some of the best gaming moment with this console for the last years and there hasn't been a boring moment with it even though the Switch always been underpowered. I love how the developers tried their best to optimize the best they could with what they had.

Now, not S because there are flaws. Let's be honest, the eshop is a slow and unfiltered mess. Nothing is organized, there should be well defined categories and also it should look fun to browse. Yearly updated UI and song to go along with it.

I've been missing miiverse since they shutted it off. It was their best social interactive app yet and it should have never go away.

S-tier honestly. Brought me back to the Nintendo home console in a huge way. Had a SNES and N64 but for the most part skipped everything since. I just stuck to their handhelds. For people that didn't like the remasters and ports: I was the target audience. Financially it's also been a complete win for them and I'm thankful the company continues to have a large presence in the industry. Especially as the competition has diluted so much.

I personally only rate it C tier.

and I think that comes down to NSO.
I simply refuse to pay for that trash out of principle, which means Mario Maker 2 was a no-buy for me for example.

it had a bunch of very good exclusives, but not enough all too amazing ones for me personally to give it anything above a C.

Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Mario Wonder, Astral Chain and Metroid Dread are the highlights

A tier, too many re releases and remasters. S tier reserved for the likes of the PS2 and N64.
