Bungie must be pretty thrilled with the impressions:

There was a heap of negativity about this game on this forum (me included), but the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Gonna really miss playing this.

They deserve a ton of praise. This game was quite the breath of fresh air.

I don't know what agency of record activision had has working on Destiny's campaign but they should be fired. The Alpha did a better job getting people excited than the multimillion dollar ad campaign.

Seeing so many skeptics change their tune must have been such a great moment for the team. I can't believe how much I'm enjoying this and I was looking forward to it even before playing. I can't wait for the beta and the final game. I'll be playing with everyone here a lot.

To be honest they needed to do what Bungie does and literally release a ViDoc solely as to Destiny was - as in from the map you can do Story missions (show video), Explore areas (show video), Strikes which are 3 man instances (show video), raids (show video) and play in the crucible which is our player vs. player (show video). Also you can go to the tower to be social and claim rewards etc. etc...

They have this now for the most part in the neew 7 minute video they released with Jason Jones but to be honest it also dosen't flesh out some the modes. Literally the explore mode gets 2 seconds when it is easily (for me anyway) some of the best parts of the game.

That member count would probably be a lot higher if there was no cap on it.

We might need to break up GAF guild into regions come launch (US, UK, Europe, Aussie, Asia etc...)

How can I join?

Too late im sorry to say - it is about to get wiped and it was full.

Just wondering, why not increase time for alpha, whats the reason?

Even from the new video i can tell that the Alpha is probably already a 2-3 month old build which is a massive difference to their current build based on where they are in development. Plus they probably want to bring servers down and prepare for beta as it really isn't that far away and their servers are going to be under even more stress then with the addition of many more PS4 users, PS3, 360 and One.

I'm surprised by the level of polish for alpha code, but beyond the beautiful vistas and sunsets I sadly feel like I played Destiny hundreds of times before there was a Destiny. Also I feel there are some balancing issues that not need to be addressed in Capture the Flag mode, the one shot kill shotgun is ridiculous, the bulky hovering vehicle in the lunar colony map needs to go away (it's so abused). For hunter class being able to equip a sniper rifle only as a special weapon is just stupid.

I won't lie, everything I saw about the game after its reveal nearly pushed me to canceling my preorder. I was actually going to wait for the beta to see if I'll pick up this game one day. The Alpha was a huge success for Bungie cause I'm definitely picking this up Day 1. Hell, I may even get the Collector's Edition. It depends on the contents though.

It's understandable. A lot of Destiny's strengths are hard to sell since what makes it special aren't the bullet-point, general concepts ("open world!", "online!","get loot!"), but rather, the execution and nuances that are evident only when playing it.

I love the post apocalyptic stillness of the environment. Found a lenghty, lonely route leading towards the outside of the protective wall, a large destroyed bridge packed with rusted car husks overlooking an endless desolate waste. Reminded me of the best aspect of Rage.

Activision is brutal at nearly everything except reaping the money from their contracted talents. :P They couldn't promote the game to save their lives. They are lucky that EA is their biggest competitor while being even more inept lol. That EA conference at E3 was epic in it's failure, but not surprising. I don't even want to talk about the Dragon Age 2 marketing campaign... XD

Thought I could last until servers went offline, but I'm tired. Destiny Alpha has been amazing and I'm really looking forward to the beta in July. Now, I'm just thinking what I'm going to play in the meantime cause this alpha really hit all the right spots.

Wish FFXIV new patch was this month but that's July also. Oh well, guess I'll fire that up and maybe some other single player games.

There was so much negativity towards this game about just being a better looking Borderlands... Now that I have tried this Alpha.. its so far from the truth..I am Hooked! Great Game.. and cant' wait!

Haha, that's the "E3 area." It was basically the only significantly-shown area for over a year.

Agreed. When it was first announced i was hyped. And then it seemed with every new video i was losing interest in the game and when they had their media blitz with the devils lair it hit rock bottom. I would have cancelled my pre-order sooner if i was going by my local as well but luckily i never did.

You need to play this game in order to "get it". It's something that a simple description can't do. No it is not a borderlands clone. It takes inspiration from it, from halo and takes the best bits of an MMO (the social aspect, public events, instanced content such as strikes and raids) and combines it in such a way that it feels right.

Not going to lie - i will be bitterly disappointed if they don't announce a collector's edition.

Last night of Destiny Alpha test. Three days of some fun FPS action and fun with friends ive ever had since Halo 2 multiplayer. BUNGiE has an instant classic on their hands for this generation.

I enjoyed that too until the far-too-frequently re-spawning enemies dampened the exploration experience. Really wanted to 'clear out' some of the cool areas I found. But the enemies re-spawned the second I turned my back.

I think you're being a little extreme but I agree with the sentiment. I actually went UGGGGH when Sony opened with a Destiny trailer at E3 this year. Yet another trailer that assumes we all know what this game is about and therefore doesn't explain anything, sweet. I even debated whether or not I'd give away my Alpha code but figured I'd give it a shot and I'm glad I did. Now I get it, I understand what they're going for and I'm on board. I doubt that would have happened if I had only been exposed to the same marketing we've seen up to this point

Slow walking in the tower is oddly relaxing. Just tilt the stick as little as possible and you just glide across, if not animate very slowly.

Of course you must always finish with a dance. That's just manners.

Honestly, I have to say, I came away from the Alpha way more impressed than I thought I would be. Prior to the Alpha, I was passing on it, but I'll probably pick it up now.

The Moon map was giving me pretty strong Battlefront vibes at times, which not only surprised me, but impressed me as well.

i think i'm done with this alpha had a fantastic time saw all the there was too see. really sad i have to wait 1-3 months to play again oh well back to wildstar

To be fair the team and the marketers have done a shit job showing the game. So negativity was to be expected. But this is how you silence it with a demo (Which is what this is) that is expanded enough to show that you ain't bullshittin. The order better take pointers from this.
