still for me smash IS a game with items..by eliminating items you eliminate a big part of the gameplay, not only randomles..
also, one of my main were/are the ice climbers, and one of the reasons is what you can do with items with those two

I know you were but I didn't explain very well on my point. I was trying to get clarification on all characters being in the game. I swore there are only few returning characters in FE:A in the game. I have the game but it's still wrapped tho. I'm glad that there are more than just few returning characters in that game. I need to finish Xenoblade first!
Post less, play more!

And have you seen what they can do without items in the way. :P

The more I think about Rhythm Heaven being in the game, the more excited I get for the music. I picked some of my favorite tracks:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMehi2h2OAY : Bon-Odori (A remix was in Fever)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0NJdU54snA : Stealthy Rat
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIJNKOJN2EA : Blue Birds 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElR59qovlI0 : Moai Doo-Wop
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcQ4upwXgX0 : Flipper Flop
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgPFSiIeP14 : Ringside

They're actually quite a top tier character even without items though, they're just very hard to use.

Are there any enemies in smash run that are not from characters already announced?

I know of the ice climbers bear and the rhythm heaven blob thing. Anything else? Any mother enemies?

What about enemies from character that have been announced but are not in smash run? Any fire emblem enemies? Star Fox? Animal crossing? Wii fit?

Toad looks the same as all the other toads.

If we were to go that way.

Toads = Chorus Kids
Toadsworth = Marshal

Since he's an actual 'character' with a name, and whatnot.
Plus, there are only three Chorus Kids, so the toad comparison was bad in the first place haha.

It's more like Chorus Kids = The Koopalings, Marshal = Bowser Jr

I don't see how being good with items is a detriment to somebody who's also very good without them, though.

I understand that's probably not what you're trying to say, but it's kind of how it reads.

Did Sakurai seriously waste moves that could have went on Takamaru on the Mii?

Yeah, give them items and they just fall apart. There are actually a lot of cool things you can do with items. I did all sorts of crazy shit in melee, its an extra level if comitment though. I would do shit like grab items like the green shell dash dance into foes. Throw up the green, grab the foe and toss them up into the shell. I'd really enjoy competetuve Smash with a limited assortment of items, but when it comes down to it, the competetive scene is just memorizing frames and practicing the same techs over and over.

It reminds me of those anime antagonist characters that the main characters think are impossible to beat, but they have that ones stupid ass weakness that makes them look like a joke. Like the character loses their shades and freaks out or something lol.

Pretty much.

People always complain about Brawl being boring to watch competitively (which it definitely is), but sometimes I get pretty damn bored watching Melee.

Hopefully there are no issues when it comes to licensing Rhythm Heaven music. I believe that pretty much all of it is owned by Tsunku rather than Nintendo themselves, so I hope that the lengths necessary to use it in Smash Bros aren't too arduous. I need a stage with Lonely Storm as background music, dammit.

My thoughts as well, lol Poor takamaru.

Let's imagine for 1 minute that each mii was supposed to be a playable nintendo rep at one point. Who would they each be?

Sword Mii would probably be takamaru.

Brawler Mii would be ???

and Gunner Mii would be ???

Marshal isn't the mascot of the series, he's in one game. He's also clearly not one of the Chorus Men. The Chorus Men are in 2 of the 3 RH games (appearing on all the promotional materials for the best selling one) and appear in Wario Ware. Marshal wouldn't make much sense.

The leaks and select screens don't leave room for him, expect him as DLC.

This is a full on lie, they are only in ONE RH game. Glee Club and the sequal which I don't count, Glee Club 2 both in the DS game. They are not prominent in the game they are in, only featured on promotional material is not a great argument compared to a character that walks you through the game and is in the ending which refrences the first game.

I don't like the idea of thinking that characters get moves wasted on them but when I saw that image I was definitely feeling those Taka pangs badly. I hope that the DLC planning will involve some form of inquiry on what the folks wanna see though.

We already covered this, you have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to Rhythm Heaven. They appear in Munchy Monk in Fever and in Game and Wario. They're also the only characters on the box, and places all over promotional materials. Stop.

I brought this comparison up earlier but I think it's more of a Ninten / Ness scenario here with Chorus Kids being the former and Marshal being the latter. The Kids are associated with the original game while the sequel has Marshal look almost identical to his spiritual ancestor and be more played up as the game's forefront. I could understand repping him because at this point he's more recognizable than the kids are and looks similar enough for it to be a non-issue. That and ideally he's allowed to be more versatile because he's not associated with one specific Tengoku game; he's effectively a guide and could be allowed access to attacks that reference all of the games. That includes the Chorus Kids' moveset, which seems like a logical Final Smash.

But if they're settling for Chorus Kids that would be interesting, granted I'm a bit disappointed that we'd not be getting potential homages to other Tengoku games in their attacks... unless they do, where-in that would feel like a misplaced character choice.

They are though. It favors the fast characters who can reach them in time and also have huge amounts of randomness in not only their spawn locations but also the effects themselves. It isn't going to cost you as much as Mario kart does but being on the receiving end of an item such as the golden hammer is going to put you at a serious disadvantage even if you dont get hit! Or pokeballs as they easily controll space. Or home run bat might spawn as someone is off stage giving them edge guarder a free projectile to throw

They do very much effect the test of skill

Mario Kart relies way more on luck of the draw than Smash.

Even with items on, a great player can still take matches.

You know, people have been curious how they could implement the Chorus Men, but I remember how Pacman was done. He can use tools from other Namco games. I have a feeling the Chorus Men will probably summon Karate Master, Samurai, and other RH characters. Got a feeling the FS will be rhythm based, like Donkey Kong.

Going through all the VGBC character movesets, it looks like certain aerials have little lag whereas others have a bunch

Also hope for you guys that crouch canceling on Bowser alone so far is just because game is in alpha/beta stages

But honestly, it seems like this is actually looking better than expected imo watching these videos

Deconfirmed

:P

I'm actually not all that upset about him not making the on-disc roster. The DLC psuedo-confirmation pretty much makes it so everyone has a generation long chance. The issue is just how long do we wait and will the character decisions be influenced by fans or by higher ups at Nintendo?

GW is not an RH game and they were not featured as a character in the credits of RH fever, your support for them have blinded you so much you don't know what you are talking about. If anyone needs to stop it truly is you.

Imagine if Lucas got confirmed. Everyone would be happy until they realized that character dlc was suddenly unconfirmed.

It's heavily implied he is the night walker. The GBA sprite was just primitive. Character designs change a lot. It's basically like his 'classic' form.

Minna no Rhythm Tengoku - Night Walk (Full version)

Having his 'old version' at the beginning of the song and his 'new version' at the end of the song seems like an artistic choice. Even the background stars change from the GBA version to the Wii version.
While I do say Mike/Marshal is an updated version of the Night Walker that is a fan video from Niconico. But even then someone could argue that Night Walker is not Mike since the primitive form does appear in Beat the Beat:

Also a Chorus Kid (if I see the name Chorus Men one more time…) appears in Beat the Beat clearly indicating that Mike is not one:

Mike has puffier cheeks and is missing the bowtie and has fingers to boot.
