Mods can lock this if inappropriate/not allowed etc but I just feel like I don't know enough about TVs to decide which is better.

Last night our 50" Panasonic Plasma crapped out on us, and we're looking to get a new one today or tomorrow. After seeing the plasma in action, we feel like we wouldn't be able to go back to LED - we had a 42" LED for a while, and we just felt that it paled in comparison to the plasma.

We're on a pretty limited budget, but we def want 50", and it will mostly be used for gaming, so we've narrowed it down to these options:

No. 1: LG 50PB5600 50-inch Widescreen 1080P Full HD Plasma TV with Freeview

+ Plasma
- Only one HDMI slot - but if we went for this TV we'd get a switcher

No. 2: Panasonic TX-50A400B 50-inch Widescreen 1080p Full HD LED TV with Freeview (New for 2014)

+ 2 HDMI ports
- LED

No. 3: LG 50PN650T 50-inch Widescreen 1080p Full HD Plasma TV with Freeview HD/600Hz
+ Full 1080p HD
+ 2 HDMI ports
+ Plasma

So, two TVs out of production and one TV that isn't close to his requirements.

Besides that the recommendations are for a different region.

I'm in the market for a very similar spec myself. The first option seems the least appealing, but that's because a thin bezel on my next TV is very important to me.

If available, Vizio sets are amazing for the price. I've had my 40 inch for 4 years now I think, and it's still a great tv.

If you can find a retailer in the UK that still has Panasonic Plasmas in stock do that again. I grabbed a 65" Panny Plasma last year and love it.

Why are the new TV's being tight with the HDMI inputs? My 6 year old Panasonic 42" Plasma came with 3 HDMI inputs.

If you haven't looked at it, the next-gen TV thread on the gaming side is pretty active. You might get good advice out of one of the regular participants there. I think there's a British contingent that can help you, too. As someone who doesn't live in Britain, I can't really suggest anything, but good luck all the same!

Just get a 6 port HDMI auto switcher for $30. I prefer them anyway because I no longer have to manually select my input.
