"It's all being complemented now by a full weather system being prepared for release soon after launch, and being shown off for the first time at E3. On the Scottish glens of Loch Duich, turbulent weather rolls in, skies thickening before bursting onto the roads. Crowds at the side of the track reach for their macs and umbrellas, winds tug at the trackside scenery while puddles form in the divots and dips of the road surface, as well as across the grass of the glens and across the gravel - Evolution's very, very proud of its gravel, and rightly so..

Over in Norway, dawn breaks over powdered mountains, sending a dreamy purplish blue out across the environment. The heat from the sun dynamically melts the snow, with northern-facing surfaces reacting first. As that sun sets and a storm rolls in, road-signs are reflected in the slicked tarmac, while headlights catch individual rain droplets. The attention to detail is underlined when Evolution pauses the action and sweeps through the static action, ascending up through the clouds - DriveClub's game world is rendered all the way to the heavens, some two kilometres up."

Go Team Norway! Unite!

Seriously looking forward to this game. Gotta finish Forza Horizon 2 in a week, then get this! Lol!

After reading that last paragraph in the OP, I really hope there's a photo mode that allows us to do just that - pause the game and move the camera around as if time was frozen.

Waste of resources. Looks pretty, but how does it impact the core gameplay.

Its about a convincing visceral experience.

Don't like it? Go play something else.

"waste of resources"... I can't believe some of the stuff I read sometimes.

It increases immersion, for one.

With their dedication to an authentic, though not exactly simulation focused physics model, there's no way the weather won't impact driving conditions.

What's a waste of resource? Snow melting on a track isn't wasting resource. Puddles forming on the track isn't wasting resources either.

I'll say it again, people have long complained about racing games not paying attention to trackside detail. This game is doing just that while also making sure everything else looks nice.

wait, wtf, the sun melts the snow in real time? that's crazy. I cannot wait to see footage of the weather. game looks insane so far. the delay did them well, although I still doubt the UI was the cause for it.

volumetric clouds is a waste of resources. Crowd putting on their macintosh's and umbrellas is a waste of resources. I never said snow or rain was worthless, as it has an obvious effect on driving conditions.

Everytime I read about how much is rendered there I think this game is as open-world as Forza Horizon. It wouldn't surprise me if they announce exactly that later this year
but i wouldn't bet on it

this

visuals in a VIDEOgame always have an impact, inmersion while not strictly gameplay, is a part of the full experience.

Maybe should play virtua racing for basic gameplay experience istead

Where's the weather footage, Rushy?

Week out from E3 and it's nowhere to be seen
..

That sounds spectacular by the way, now show me some footage so I can officially lose my mind and cry with joy.

The more I see and hear about this game the more excited I get. I was bummed about the delay at first, but they've justified it immensely over the last couple of months.

Ok, and are you aware of how much (or little) processing power it takes to have these small details in the game happening before you start spouting off about it being a "waste of resources"?

Whats the opportunity cost here? Oh that's right, you don't even have a clue.

Lets go back to times like these:

Everything else is a waste of resources...

Im not a big racer myself, dont drive in real life and the main race style games i like are ones such as Burnout etc yet the more i see/read about Driveclub, the more i cant wait to try out the free PS+ version.

The amount of work that has gone into this is clearly huge and all the little details sound very interesting.

This is ridiculous. The vibes I'm feeling hnggggg

Please stop speaking things you know nothing of.

"Spectator's wives, who are bored after being brought here by their motorsport's crazy husbands, will very realistically be reading works by popular female authors!"

I think there comes a point where certain small details add pretty much nothing to the game and could be better spent adding something more useful suited to the genre involved.

Has there been any word which wheels will be compatible with this game?

AFAIK this is the first proper racing game on ps4 to support wheels right?
