Official Destiny Alpha Withdrawal Thread

Oh, ok. You made the Alpha impressions thread, so just thought I'd ask. PsychoRaven made the alpha one and said he would spend time setting up the new clan, but he didn't do it yet.

Oh, ok. I didn't know his GAF user name.

So many good memories I've made in such a short time in the Alpha. Looking forward to BETA greatly!

This will be the official NeoGAF Bungie.net Clan, in case the one Psycho Raven did during Alpha gets deleted or doesn't crossover to BETA & Final Release. I just made it so that no random dudes/girls took our Clan Name. I am prepared to provide full access, administration rights, to Pyscho Raven.

There is no misinterpreting what he said. He clearly says, " Destiny has *a* raid."
Well if it is just one raid, I'm pretty sure it's a pretty damn big raid, I want people to look at past mmo's as an example of what we can expect, all the greats started small and expanded

Believe in bungie

Oh, ok. I was just worried someone stole the clan name. It happened in Killzone Shadowfall so we had to make another name.

Yeah, I was reading through the grimoires on the alpha site last week and was surprised that all the Guardians are "dead." Hopefully the game has a good explanation of this. But everyone in the city below the Tower is alive, right?

no it was all a dream. You were there, and you, and you, too!
Someone mentioned DBO and I just checked it out, this thread seems very informative and is scratching my itch for more information that I missed:

DBO is awesome.

I believe so, along with many of the people who work in the Tower (those NPCs who wander around). I stood around recording the NPC dialogue for a while and there's also a line that goes something like "You know, there are people in the City who don't believe you [Guardians] really exist."

I just put in a request to join. I'm toddv360. I'm already in the alpha destinyGAF. If this is gonna be the official one for sure, I want in. I hope joining this one doesn't kick me out of the alpha one if that still ends up being the official one.

Edit: lol I got accepted really fast.

It blows my mind that just a week ago people were really down on this game, and now there is a 16 page long withdrawal thread. It is amazing what getting a game into peoples hands can do.

That would be me in both respects. For me, I just felt that the information, trailers, etc.. coming out pre-Alpha didn't do a great job communicating what it might be like to play the game. I felt the tone of what they were going for in the marketing, etc.. just fell flat (again, to me). But yes, once I got a chance to run around in the world a bit and sort out what it was they were trying to do, I was super into it and now and legit excited for its release.

I've found no enjoyment in my other games since the alpha ended, this month until the beta is going to be slow.

I am also feeling this - tried to get back into WatchDogs last night, and am having a hard time. Borderlands 2 on the vita is helping a little bit though....

So in one of the Destiny threads on Giant Bomb, I came across a screenshot of this:

These are apparently attributes on Lvl. 20 gear and imply, as was pointed out in that thread, that there's a good chance 20 is indeed the cap and it's this Light attribute that acts like a level buff so that you can take on higher level enemies. Couldn't find mention of this in this thread. Anybody else notice this?

i too have put in a request on bungie.net to join the group. legbone just like here on gaf. i was in destinygaf for the alpha and hope to be for the remainder of the destiny series. isn't it supposed to be like 6 games or something like that? my oh my, what a delightful several years we have to look forward to. hopefully the characters carry over from game to game. maybe the level cap will increase with each game in the series. so my level 20 hunter from destiny can carry on and become a level 40 (or whatever cap they decide upon) hunter in the second game and so on. i think that would be really cool.

sorry went on a rant there. just wanted to let whoever (or is it whomever?) is running the destinygaf group that i have requested to join. user id is legbone on bungie.net just like here.

It was briefly discussed, though I don't remember if it was this thread or the alpha impressions thread.. or maybe another thread on the alpha forums..? In any case, it makes perfect sense given Bungie's own comparisons to Diablo and their desire not to have huge level disparities splitting friends from playing with each other.

Once we're closer to release and it gets explained more in depth (hopefully) then people should understand. The problem really is that many people don't get alternate progression like this right off the bat. Levels make sense to them but attunements are a bit more of a foreign concept.

I kind of want a Destiny shirt. I don't really wear game related clothing though, lol. Though I'd be cool with it as long as it's understated.

I got you. I'm filtering through the names to see if there's any impostor. Let me know if I missed out on some random dudes/girls. Anyhow, to make matters easy, I will message each one asking for their GAF name to ensure we don't have people like this.

I'm beginning to suspect that a lot of content was cut from the final game over the course of development. Last year's E3 had hints about going to Mercury, Saturn and Europa. In addition to the concept art for Old Chicago and the Tower City.

None of that seems to have made it for the retail game unless all of those things were purposefully hidden off the map and now we are hearing there is only one raid? Destiny must have had a nightmarish development cycle.

I put in a request to join the Bungie.net Private group for NeoGAF. Username is the same on Bungie.net as it is here.

Just sent a request to join the group as well. Same as Gaf user name.

I went into withdrawal as well, but right now I'm satisfied.

Jumped in the clan as well (same name). I'll definitely pull some weight. Time is moving so slow!

You're all in! Welcome to DestinyGAF
I'm waiting for PsychoRaven to get here.

I hadn't noticed that, but it's actually an extremely clever way to expand upon player power for end-game progression while keeping players within a more narrow range of stats and levels.

None of that seems to have made it for the retail game unless all of those things were purposefully hidden off the map
The alpha was never presented as containing the content of the full game. Old Russia is sort of like Silent Cartographer in the original Halo, it's the area that was brought up to full functionality first and was used for testing and demoing things.

Games always have some degree of content that gets cut, so it's not guaranteed that all the concept areas are in the game, but it was always implied that what was in the alpha is a fairly small fraction of Destiny's content.

This is what I'm expecting, to be honest. At the same time, I'm also expecting a lot of content, just not as ambitious as previously teased.

I expect current-gen only (hopefully) Destiny 2 to be bonkers, but I'm still keeping my hype subdued for the first game in terms of content. (thankfully the foundation of fun gameplay is there)

I'm new to this clan thing. It's on bungie.net right? I searched groups and found a general gaf group, but not a Destiny specific one. Am I in the right place?

I was more referring to the map shown in the E3 Jason Jones trailer, which didn't have any of the locations I was referring to:

I think Old Chicago is still in though. The E3 story trailer showed somewhere that looks kinda like the Old Chicago concept art.
