Yeah, definitely. I don't think it was a factor in URU-CRC, but it definitely has been in other games, like when Cameroon upset Argentina in 1990. Back then, African teams were laughing stocks, but Cameroon's raw strength and speed was difficult to deal with and clearly rattled Argentina. They were also seemingly disorganized, which made them unpredictable. Crushing memory, but it served notice to the other nations that every underdog has a fighting chance in the World Cup.
