People really expect France to win against Switzerland?

Is there a better way for UEFA to have qualifying?

I was wondering why Switzerland were ranked so high, and I saw the reason, they had a shit qualifying group. How do you prevent that shit of a group happening again?

Awww cmon. I'm pretty sure no one wanted to land Spain in their group and look at where they are now. This shit doesn't mean nothing.

Brazil, France, Germany and holland to fight it out then. Italy probably if they make it out as they seem to play better against good opposition for some reason.

I'll just say a few words about the confederations thing from the perspective of a Crying Eagle of Freedom:

Americans are used to taking about the relative strength of team groupings in their domestic sports. All of our pro leagues are divided by conference or region and teams within their respective groupings play each other regularly. So it's common for Americans to discuss whether the NFC West is the strongest in the NFL, or is the NL better than the AL, and even in college sports people talk about how the SEC is the best in college football. This is commonplace in our sports culture, so the whole rooting for confederations thing seems odd to our European brethren but it's a perfectly normal thing for Americans.

PAC-12 > SEC

Makes sense.

I don't know. The whole ranking seems off sometimes.

Depends if there are any rivalries between the teams within conferences / divisions.
For NFL, you would never root for a team within the same division such as AFC North, etc.
I don't think a lot of us (Americans) would root for the Mexican team.

I missed out on the first half but something tells me I only missed out on a goal...

THREE FRENCH GOALS?

Damn France, what did the Swiss do to you?

Argentina will avoid: Germany, Brazil, France if they finish first in their groups and Italy if they finish second.

Wow if Argentina doesn't get to semis at the very least, it'll be a major failure IMO.

Switzerland are getting absolutely pummelled. Now I feel like a goober for putting money on them.

well, they played pretty good on the euro qualification round and they played pretty good against Ecuador (Ecuador: stronk), so it wasn't that much of a stretch...

France is just too good.

The main problem is the European micronations that can fuck up a qualifying run. Not in the "oh they might win" sense, but in the fact on how badly they beat them counts toward the second place playoffs. And that Switzerland beat Iceland, Albania, Slovenia, Norway, and Cyprus for their spot.

Lmao is this for real? I'm not at home and won't be for around 2 days (at a festival). Summary of the game anyone?

-Costa Rica got an early (great) goal on the first half...
-Italy made some crappy subs and then started to get tired. CR almost got a second and third goal.
-Mountains of salt in GAF
