Official Destiny Alpha Withdrawal Thread

I'm very happy to return from work seeing that arrangements have been made regarding the two DestinyGAFs. I hope the drama is now behind us all so that we can focus on what really matters; protecting the Warlock superiority from pathetic Hunter scum.

Warlock 4evah!
Death to Hunters!

Put in a request to join destinyGAF.

PSN ID and Bungie name: sushimonster85

Also anyone feel free to send me a psn friend request, can never have too many GAF buddies.

Valentinus and I thought that in the OT. If we put 4 links in the first post, people can click on it and it will send the to the thread that was made for that specific platform.

The OT will be in the Gaming Section and the other 4 threads will be in the Gaming Community Section of NeoGAF
And the OT will be moved to gaming community within the month. That's really crowded.

Some stuff people might be interested in from the last week or so:

New episode of Guardian radio - Weekly destiny podcast that is really good quality. They are discussing E3 and the alpha this week after a couple of the hosts were working the Bungie booth as community guests:

Mamma said knock you out montage:

A lot of people still seem to have missed this 7 minute official trailer:

The angry joe interview was interesting. It does sound like there is only one raid in destiny at the moment.

can I submit an application for someone who is waiting for his gaf account to be approved?

EXPLORE
  • More random enemy patrols.
  • More varied public events. I've encountered the WarSat event three times in a row in the same place.
  • More frequent loot and more interesting things to find other than loot, like audio logs, shaders, etc.
  • Would be cool if players who joined your fireteam dropped in from their ship like the E3 demo.
  • Shouldn't be put back into Orbit when joining a fireteam.
  • NPCs roaming around to take missions from, learn about the world, or buy and trade weapons with.
  • More varied and interesting missions from beacons.
  • Ability to go into the world with more than two friends, or at least meet up with friends somewhere.

CRUCIBLE
  • More unique medals ("first blood", "kill streak", etc. feel uninspired).
  • More stats in post-game, such as accuracy.
  • Announcer either needs to have announcements lessened so as to not clutter voice chat. Would help if he only said things that were important or made the player feel like they accomplished an incredible feat.
  • There's a bit too much visual feedback in Crucible. You can get a kill and then a bunch of text will pop up in the middle, and so will banners, and so will the XP you earned on the side. And then the "Guardian Down" banner and scoreboard can show up on top of that. All of this is in addition to your HUD on the left side and the objectives elsewhere in the middle of the screen. Feels a bit distracting.
  • Interceptor's boost is a bit too fast and the rockets need a charge time.
  • Ammo crates should be in more strategic/contestable locations.
  • Wider capture radius around control points.
  • Player names over the death skull (alternatively, use the Ghost symbol instead of the skull).

STRIKE
  • Boss Battle music should ebb and flow. Sepkis music is a bit repetitive compared to the mesh layer track.

THE TOWER
  • Option to join a populated Tower or an empty one from The Director.
  • Ability to delete items while browsing The Vault instead of backing out and opening up the standard Character menu to do it.
  • A place to change hair styles.
  • A place to learn new emotes for our Guardian (change the sitting posture, dance style, etc.).
  • A place to trade weapons and gear with other Guardians (or make this a universal ability when you highlight and interact with players).
  • Track playtime spent in The Tower.

PLAYER
  • More visual feedback for a player who has shielding/armor.
  • Player response when taking damage or dying.
  • More distinguishable shield beep.

ENEMIES
  • A brief warning when enemies are about to spawn from a monster closet.
  • More varied behaviors. Hive and Fallen feel very similar in the way they move.
  • More interesting voices. The aforementioned enemies have almost indistinguishable growls at times.
  • More weak spots on enemies, such as their back. Feels weird to come up behind a Fallen Captain and not be rewarded with extra damage for the risk.
  • Legend difficulty needs to be a bit more challenging
  • Bosses and public events should reward players with more loot
  • More interesting entrances (drop pods, ride in on vehicles, crawl from behind the walls, etc.)

GENERAL
  • More control schemes or custom controls.
  • Less motion blur.
  • Less aim assist and bullet magnetism.
  • Less aim acceleration when sprinting and turning.
  • A bit more vibrant, contrast and saturation in the colors. Feels a bit foggy and dull.
  • Characters and the world need a bit more personality and emotion.
  • Option to disable Toggle Crouch, or make it so that players don't crouch after they slide.
  • Rotate and zoom the Guardian in all character menus.
  • Would be neat to have an in-game map (nothing fancy) to place waypoints on.
  • Player reflections in the water.
  • Proximity chat settings with options to mute.
  • Loot and ammo drops should be a bit easier to see.
  • A bit more precise motion sensor.
  • Maybe throw a compass in there somewhere.
  • More interactivity with our ships in orbit.
  • Pull up a list in-game to see online friends in a clan and invite them to play.
  • Collector's edition pl0x?

if we ended up creating threads for all the different system here on GAF, do you think you can make us some banners for those too? If you dont mind. :)

now that the two groups are merging can we leave the DestinyGAF PS4 group?

Please read my announcement in the previous page. Especially the Edit 1: part.

A GAF have contacted Bungie to see if they can merge the two group together so people dont have to leave one group and apply to another. So please just stay put for a moment till further notice.

after reading the last few pages i like what i hear about the destinygaf group. if you guys need someone to help, i'll glad to "volunteer as tribute" >>

I ended up recording a bunch of NPC dialogue from the Tower during the end of the Alpha and arranged some of the clips into a video if anyone's interested. Just posted this on DBO. There are a few interesting hints about the story in there. Civilians curious and in awe of the Guardians coming back from death, mentioning specific places we haven't traveled yet, etc.

"What's still out there? We have this poster...a beach, a big machine like a wheel..."

The shaders changed the look of your armor, even in the alpha.

If you have enough crucibile points, and a high enough crucible rank, you were able to buy shaders from the crucible venders. We all know that the crucible was PVP.

Even if you don't do PVP, you were still able to buy the shaders from them because we were able to turn in spin metal to the crucible venders for cricible points and rank and when you did that enough, you were able to buy the shaders, although there were only a few shaders to select. Like red and blue.

I didnt find that out until the last day of the alpha, and i was spending all my spin metal trying to increase the rank of my vanguard, but all the rewards for getting a rank one vanguard where too high a level for alpha players to use, while the crucible had shaders you could buy if you increased your crucible rank instead.

Now knowing this info before beta, i will make the right choice next time.

Wait what? Are you fucking kidding me?! I didn't know that either!!!

I didn't know you could turn in the Spin Metal to the Vanguard Quartermaster until somebody mentioned it in the Alpha thread but I must of missed that too!

Good to hear things have been resolved. But isn't it too early to be making the OT?

There probably wont be an OT for the official game just yet. What will happen soon though is that I will create a list of Admins based on their region along with a list of Commanders and Captains that will be updated once we get more people promoted.

We might start a Beta OT though, and that can be our official one until the game come out and the real OT get made.

Whoa there. Slow down. Unless I'm missing something and you're talking about a Beta OT for Gaming Community, you're already stepping on some toes. I'm making the Beta OT.

Oh, there is a GAFfer who is planning to make the OT. I forget who it is, but Dax mentioned him in a post when talking about banners for the OT.

And this talk of Captains and Commanders sounds serious. I just wanna play Destiny with other GAFfers, not compete in pro leagues or whatever.

I'm not saying that I will be making it. I'm just saying someone will make it. If you already got dibs on it then that's fine with me :) just as long as one will get made.

If that's the case. I'm calling dib on making the official OT when the game launches. Unless someone else already did.

If you're talking about a general beta OT, that's already being made by Dax01. I think the beta clan discussion could be kept within that OT for the duration of the beta. People pretty much claim OT rights at the announcement of a game. You can see what has been claimed by who in the OT thread in the Gaming Community forums.
