Nintendo Treehouse team got a thank-you gift from 4chan's video games board.

I sometimes find game discussions better in /v/ than some other places

I'm with you on that, especially for Persona.
Spoilers for the series:
Every thread on Persona bar the community one here just tends to be spoiler ethics. Usually someone just posts Adachi's the killer and MC dies within a few posts on /v/, and that's the last you hear of it.

I know what GAF can do in return for a job well done at the Treehouse! Let's all make collages, but instead of fan art, we send them nasty and degrading pics of ourselves and instead of the Treehouse, we send them DIRECTLY to Erik Peterson! Look at the power he has over us.
GAF didn't do shit except fantasize about Erik...

We all have our jobs....

Erik continues to be the resident nintendo hottie

Well, in our defense, he IS pretty dreamy. I wish with all my being that he's gay just for a sliver of hope that he could marry me one day.

Don't worry, we'll outdo /v/ next year, when we overwhelm the man with Valentine's Day cards.

That's cool! They really deserved it. Even not being a big Nintendo fan, the concept and execution of the treehouse stuff was amazing and I seriously hope Sony/MS will follow this next year.

I feel this way all the time.

Shit, this is all Nintendo means to me. They're the one true Game Maker.™ Now excuse me, gotta go play some Kirby Triple Deluxe,

EDIT:

4chan doesn;t even seem human sometimes. it's like they're some other species everyone's carefully observing and taking notes on.

People are defending 4chan now? Wow.. Makes me wonder how GAF would look like if the mods took a break for a week or two.

There are people who like both /v/ and GAF, you know. They kind of serve different purposes (/v/ is raw, unfiltered discussion, GAF is better for news and buying/selling/trading, etc.), so some people go on both. But people don't really admit it because most of /v/ hates GAF and GAF often dislikes /v/.

I like the idea of giving them thank you cards, but with 4chan being populated with a bunch of no names, I don't find it as effective as I would people who left their names/username.

Example is if NeoGAF did do something like this, It'd be cool because you can go on NeoGAF and see the people who actually sent the card. Go on /v/ and all you'll see is, well, /v/ being /v/.

umm..what? How does not having your username make it any less effective? The only point of this is for fans to show their appreciation to them by contributing and sending the big letter. Or do you honestly think they would have liked it more if they saw the usernames of every single contributor?

This seems more like an ego thing to me than being "effective".

Raw and unfiltered, eh? Can you say.. euphemism?

I had several examples of homophobic vitriol from the first page of /v/ lined up for my first draft of this post, but I wanted to spare you the embarassment of trivialising that rubbish.

IF they really have all that poison inside, is better to let it out in a message board than in real life .

So they use slurs. A lot. I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm not saying it's a good thing either. But there's actual discussion going on underneath it, and they don't distract from the discussion People ignore those slurs and actually move on to discussing shit on /v/, unlike on GAF where the thread would become all about racism/sexism if one slur was used.

I love how many of the tiles are Nintendo fans taking the opportunity to take a childish swipe at everyone else. Thank you "for saving video games"? For "saving E3"? Gimme a freakin' break.

People just felt nostalgia from Nintendo this year i think. No BS just games. They had an amazing week. I think everyone can admit that.

So? /v/'s been stormfront-lite for years and it's easily the most popular board.
/v/ is far more mixed than that and this is a conversation that's already been had in this thread. If you find it too abrasive and homophobic/racist than that's perfectly fine, but there CAN be legitimate gaming discussion there if you know where to look instead of painting the entire board with the same broad strokes they're currently painting us with.

It just feels like labeling online communities on certain games STORMFRONT-LITE because they're filled with legions of teenagers screaming racial epithets. You filter out the bullshit or leave/keep everything muted.

Oh wait, did that poster really count the yaoi, yuri, and that one man only porn boards as being LGBT boards?

Lol
I don't see how gay porn isn't LGBT-related but okay.

Some people are bothered by it more than others. As far as I'm personally concerned, it's just some stupid shit. I usually just ignore it and try to discuss games in threads where most people are more civil. It's fine if you don't like or want to deal with that, but it's not like that's the only experience people can have with the site, and it's not like people are somehow wrong for getting some entertainment from going there.

Most of these things come and go very quickly, so unless you spend a lot of time there or just happen to be there at the right time, most of the threads you'll see are just normal thread topics that you'd expect.

This is true. Even then most of the slurs are tongue-in-cheek, obviously offensive but made in jest or to rile plebs which can be fun.

You seem to ignore the countless threads where they would have non-ironic discussions on how they blame the decline on video games on feminazis (Anita Sarkessian, tumblr), f*****s (miiquality, EA, any game with gay characters), or k***s ("fucking j*** forcing me to buy their optional preorder DLC lehappymerchant.jpg").

EDIT: oh, and anyone who doesn't share their views are SJWs in their eyes.

Late night /v/ has threads discussing how nations are collapsing thanks to the corruption of ethnic minorities. Stormfront-lite is a fine label for them.

And LOL at "legitimate gaming discussion". /v/ has so much trouble talking about video games it's a joke there. Go anywhere else. Hell, any of the other video game boards on 4chan are better places.

Sometimes certain non-game related topics dominate game discussion so much here that it's actually easier to wade through that stuff at /v/ and find the actual game discussion. Especially during E3 when threads were so consolidated.

You seem to ignore the countless threads where they would have non-ironic discussions on how they blame the decline on video games on feminazis (Anita Sarkessian, tumblr), faggots (miiquality, EA, any game with gay characters), or kikes ("fucking Jews forcing me to buy their optional preorder DLC lehappymerchant.jpg").

Welp, you done fucked up now didn't you?

Usernames are pretty meaningless to the industry people receiving it. They still leave you anonymous. In this case, 4chan's forced anonymity works well for collaboration projects, because the only way to gain recognition is through your contributions. No posturing or ego-stroking allowed.

Cards are all about the recipient, not the sender.

>Feminazis/f****ts
Alright, some people are actually homophobic/sexist, some use those words as substiutions for SJW, and some legitimately post in threads about that sort of subject matter without posting those slurs. There's a legit discussion to be had about Anita Sarkessian and Tumblr White Knights being bad for the industry, or that EA has tried to scapegoat bad writing as being progressive. Don't lump in some actual sexist and homophobic posters with people who are actually having a legit discussion.
>K***s
This is more of a bigger issue than 4chan, k***/j** are used by far, far more than 4chan to describe people trying to rip people off. It's bad, but once again, people are often more bitching about greedy practices than being antisemetic in those threads.

I mean, don't get me wrong, people will shit post racist, sexist, etc. things a lot on 4chan. But it's just shit posting, it's easy for a lot of people to filter out. I'm not saying it's wrong that you have a low tolerance for it. But it is wrong to assume that people who use those slurs, or people who just post in threads where people use those slurs, have no legitimate things to say.

EDIT: Editted to censor my slurs, since the person whose post I was referring to censored theirs.
