Wow reading these reactions, I didn't know people would be so happy that Argentina won against Iran - I thought that was expected. It seems like they almost lost hope throughout the game lol.

Eh, if a player scores two in two victories, criticisms are a bit unwarrented.

And if he's not the player he was two years ago, then isn't he playing well so far by that logic?
 
In fairness, the best strikers can have shit games and still score. That's their job. So I don't really have much criticism of Messi for that. People have bad games, and bad games tend to crop up in these kinds of tournaments where the games are very unpredictable and you're being singled out by the opposition, and underdog mentality starts to kick in.

That being said, I can't give Iran enough praise for holding out that long against a side like Argentina. The "park the bus" term is used way too much in a negative way, when in reality it's going to happen when the quality of two sides are somewhat on the opposite end of the scale. 3rd round FA Cup matches will show you this. If the lower league side beats premiership opposition with flair, then all the better. More than likely though, it's going to be a slog, and one that becomes increasingly hard as the game goes on and the difference in fitness levels become apparent. As Iran just found out.

No salt here, but it was a clear penalty, watch one of the replays again.

Zaba wants to kick the ball away, but the Iranian guy just pokes it, a fraction earlier, away with his "toe" and Zaba misses the ball and hits the Iranian guy, clear penalty, but can understand why the ref missed it.

Yeah I expected Argentina to win.

Iran did play pretty good, though.

besides that wonder goal, meeesi played like a 34 year old past his prime dude. the old meeesi would constantly drop deep to pick up the passes and dictate 1-2 plays. argentina midfield and offense has a big gap and he is just strolling for 65mins before trying to do some shit. It is obvious he is suffering from HGH after-effect and saving himself to look like he played 90mins. barca should have sold him to PSG or Mancity and not renew his contract. at least ronnie looks in good health.

and aguero, higuain, de maria all looks worn out, slow and heavy touches. holland will rip this team apart with van persie and robben on the break.
