Sitting in a Biergarten with a football fan friend, whole nine yards, scarf, face paint and everything. I'm not that much of a fan, but the mood is amazing and dragging me along. Have been watching the Iran vs Argentinian match. That was surprisingly entertaining. Not due to Argentinia though, that's for sure. Iran playing it extremely safe, but occasionally giving a run on the goal with surprising ferocity.
The goal was truly beautiful. A joy to watch it curve and weave through the defense. Messi doing Messi thangs I guess. The look of horror on the poor goalie's face as the ball went in was heartwrenching.
Now Germany vs Ghana. What's happening, the mood has intensified. Holy shit, football fans are a scary bunch. I think I smell blood. Send help. Tell mom I love her.

A ref could easily argue both ways. It was not as "FUCK THE REF" as some people think.are you blind?

What's hilarious is that even at slow motion there's debate as to whether it's a penalty. And yet, you criticize the ref who doesn't have that luxury. Hilarious.
That call can go EITER way. Touching the ball doesn't give you immunity, but it's good evidence that it was a play on the ball.

No, he 100% absolutely hit the ball first. It wasn't a penalty. He's extremely lucky to have got something on the ball, but it doesn't change the fact that he did!

People forget that a ref has to be 100% sure before giving a penalty. I don't think the ref had a good enough view, although some refs would have given it anyway.

So many people don't know the rules, if you win the ball but make contact with the opposing player out in the same motion, it's a foul. Even if you take the view of "he won the ball", the next stage of play is the Iranian then goes after the ball, and is then fouled. It might be in the matter of 0.5 seconds, but it's still the way it was.

Why some of you think Germany will surely win against Argentina just because they are a better team? It's the World Cup, it's a single elimination game and it's football, the team that will win it's not the team that plays better, it's the team that scores more than their opponents. Argentina has the same chance to win as Germany if the play each other.
