Hngggg thanks. I was asking for it as were others. Great execution of the elastico/flip-flap.

How does association turning into soccer makes sense, just because of ''soc''? Not trolling, I'm not understanding how this makes so much sense to you. Again, I'm not trolling.

Let me build a time machine and go back to 19th century Oxford and ask the guy that came up with it.

Or you could engage your brain for 5 seconds and you'll come up with this:

Rugby > Rugger

Association > Asoccer > Soccer

Now can we stop with this fucking bullshit and talk about the match being played right now please?

The disallowed goal killed the mood in this thread and on the pitch.
Aye, how quickly people hopped on the derail is proof that the game just isn't all that hot.

Even by your logic you're wrong by at least four years. 1970 World Cup was the first one to be both completly broadcasted in color and distributed live via satellite to all the world. How does 1974 mark what modern football is and not, say, 1970?
You're right, 1970 is worthy of consideration. It's a fluid development, 1974 is where the changes to the game are realised in full force, imo, the advent of the libero (Beckenbauer), Total Football (Cruyff), just a completely new intensity and pace compared to earlier. But I do concede that 1970 could be marked as well.

And as for the great players that came earlier, well, that's just the nature of the beast, of evolving sports. People respect Jack Dempsey as one of the greatest fighters ever and that legendary legacy will never go away, but you just can't compare it to modern boxing.

I don't even get what you're saying right now.

You could use technology to indicate players in an offside position. That's not impossible. But given the intricacies of the offside rule, it'd be difficult to send that information to the referee in a timely manner in a way that's useful. I mean, a buzz telling the referee that a player is offside doesn't necessarily mean that a foul's being committed and that play should stop.

lol I mean what would cause the signal? There isn't a specific line the players have to cross for it to be offside and there are exceptions to the rule like Suarez's goal for example. I'm just confused about how that would even work.
That wasn't "an exception" though...

4th ref could confirm and send the signal.

Oh, well a video ref would be good. Would need a radio though really, unless it's like 1 buzz for yes, 2 for no.

Wouldn't even need that. If it's not offside nothing needs to happen just let it go on if it's offside then you stop.
