Official Destiny Alpha Withdrawal Thread

It's important, man! Climbing stupid shit in towns via jumping is a key feature of online games with peaceful hub areas! And female characters can't reach some places that males can! The place we tested, to be specific, is the flag pole next to the post office building. On his male hunter, my friend could jump onto the flag pole from the building's roof with ease. On a female character, it wasn't even close. You can't get your knees over the top of the pole.

>_____> I truly hope that no hypersensitive people take offense to this.

OFFENSE TAKEN

Not a huge fan of the PVP tbh.

Snipers annoyed the hell out of me although the Moon map was pretty good. I'll be sticking to PVE for the most part.

I got so lost in the PVE I only played a few matches of control at the very end of the alpha. Never got a chance to try the moon map. I liked it, it was fun but I will be sticking to the PVE for the most part as well.

Can someone explain the basics of Destiny for me?

Is it like Guild Wars where there are places (or in this case 1 gigantic hub) where you meet up with other gamers and partake in missions and/or play multiplayer matches?

No way, bro. I see colors besides grey in that gif.
joking, joking

I know you're joking but I was thinking of more Gears 3/Judgment than say 1 or 2 heh :P.
I hope there are more social places.

There was a blocked off part in the Tower directly in front of you I noticed. Either it'll be opened in the Beta or most definitely in retail.

I'm doubtful we have seen the entire contents of the Tower.

There's one mode that'll make you go "whoa" and you can "whoa" with two other friends.
There's a mode where you get told there's a wizard from the moon.
There's this other mode where you go "pew pew pew!" with people from matchmaking or two of your friends.
There's another mode where you go "pew pew pew!" against other people with up to six of your friends or people from matchmaking.
And finally, there's this social mode where you can have dance parties.

There's this other mode where you go "bam bam bam!" with people from matchmaking or two of your friends.

So you can only play Hunter in these two modes?

How do you all tend to use or conserve rare heavy weapon ammo?

I always am the kind of player that feels I need to save the big guns for "when I'd need it most", but usually results in me forgetting I have it or thinking an encounter isn't worth the heavy ammo because I am not sure what is around the corner. For example, in Mass Effect 2 I rarely used my heavy weapon.

I know that's probably not the best or most efficient way to play, especially in Destiny where we'd need to use the heavy weapons to upgrade them.

didn't try PvP, had so much fun doing the strike and wandering around the maps that I didn't feel pushed into the mode to see what it was like.

August is gonna be one hell of a slow drag :(

Thought you had to play as Baby Rubble from the flintstones??

Hunter goes bam bam bam
Titan goes SMASH
Warlock goes kaboooooom

Heavy ammo for me is used on yellow healthbar enemies only. Headshots/critical shots more efficiently kill anything else, I find.

You buy heavy weapon synths, so that even if you run out you can automatically fill it back up, unless you've used a synth within the last five minutes.

This is where the purchase heavy weapon ammo is 5x times the primary weapon price lol.

Once I got going into the levels I had enough to get me at least 5 rockets or two belts of machine gun ammo to keep me going.

The end level or boss fights though, I think will require some ammo crates to be purchased just to be sure ;)

^ This should be the OT.

I always hold on to my Heavy until I'm in a really tough spot and need to clear several enemies out quickly without using my Super. Outside of that, I occasionaly used a machine gun just for the funs. 'BLAGGABLAGGABLAGGABLAGGA'!

Also, best dancing game of E3!

They forgot Best Dancing Game

Has anyone else looked into Vita remote play, I am on the fence of buying a Vita just to remote play Destiny and GTA 5. Can anyone talk about remote play?

I saw two articles talk about the Vita remote play:

http://www.gamezone.com/originals/2014/06/18/destiny-is-the-best-first-person-shooter-on-ps-vita

http://www.explosion.com/60751/destiny-ps-vita-remote-play-videos-surface-online/

I really might consider getting it. I heard you won't be able to use auto though but meh that's cool since I would only use it when my SO would want to chill in bed versus that couch in the living room where the TV is. Also is it true you can use your PS4 controller for the Vita now? I hope there is a mount that can have you with your DS4 and Vita.

Posted in the destiny Gaf forum but added it here anyway.

Did anyone else unlock the Destiny cards that got leaked around march this year?

Any news on what they are going to be?

Just so you all know that didn't get the codes, they are up in the DestinyGaf forum and are still able to be redeemed.

One if shooting in the head. Two if shooting on other body parts.

Standard then. Well as long as they don't have too many camping spots I'm fine with snipers.

I'm thinking of the control scheme and I agree with Kyoufu about the emotes. How could we improve the controls by using the d-pad and touchpad in a different way? Maybe have emotes by swiping in different directions on the touchpad, like the Owl in Killzone: Shadow Fall? And then d-pad could be used for consumables and maybe weapon shortcuts?

Console parity.

That, I can agree with. As we were testing it, my friend and I had that exact conversation. Like, "watch some person turn this into a crazy witch hunt". Any way, for the sake of that not happening, I hope Bungie does equalize the jump heights in town.

I played a female character during alpha as well and had no issues jumping and exploring all the places you said you did. Plus my friends and I were doing a lot of messed up stuff in town and we were all able to clear the same jumps. I really think you guys messed up your timing or something because I believe with my experience what you are claiming isn't true.

I'm done arguing about this. As I said, my friend and I tested the same jump for thirty straight minutes. If you're gonna claim we screwed up our jump timings on multiple female characters and only managed to get the timing correct on the male multiple times for that long, then that's your choice. I don't care enough, nor do I have any stake in the matter.

Well they could at least include some console specific options so that we can make use of the different control methods.

Have we heard if it uses Kinect in any way? I haven't been paying attention to anything but PS4 version.

Yup. But specifically it's generational parity. I think Bungie wants 360/PS3 owners to be able to transfer over to Xbox One/PS4 (respectively) without having to re-adjust to control differences.

Right "same experience" and all that...

Yeah I'm really missing the action, that Alpha weekend got me really pumped for this game. Although I'm not sure if I'll get it for the PS4, not sure if I like how the controller feels after long usage.

Is it possible that certain upgrade/abilities do indeed carry over into the hub world? I saw quite a few assumptions about race and upgrades not needing to be equal during your test. Once the beta hits, take a stock awoken male and female to the test area.

Is anyone considering getting a Vita to remote play anytime? I am trying to stock up on gaming accessories to make sure I have a great time in the fall.

But if the Playstation TV will let me stream to my laptop while being able to use the DS4 then the Vita is just useless.

I've just had a terrifying thought related to the longer missions in this game, and sections which take like half an hour to complete

Playstation Network Maintenance

You know... When the beta ends, we are going to have to make room for all the other people withdrawing from the Xbox side... A whole lot of new faces, we're going to have to tell them 'hey... It will be ok'

Add me on PSN guys- TheKuses

I need some people to join up with when the game goes live. Got a PS4 not too long ago and don't have any of my friends here, since most of them are on the One.

That mid-air diving hulk smash attack makes me want to play as Titan.

The problem with it is that it's hard to gauge the distance. Sometimes I'll overshoot enemies and sometimes I'll undershoot. Wish there was some kind of blast zone indicator for it. But I'm going Titan as my main anyway because it seems to be the least popular.

You get an upgrade that lets you aim exactly where you want to land called Death From Above.
