Pitana no pitó, puta que lo parió.

This is the current situation:

  1. Germany (4 points, +4 goal difference)
  2. USA (4 points, +1 goal difference)
  3. Ghana (1 point, -1 goal difference)
  4. Portugal (1 point, -4 goal difference)
USA will advance, unless they lose AND either Ghana or Portugal wins with a higher goal difference. Points always come first.

If Ghana-Portugal ends in a tie, they're both out anyway.

This was Scotland's official world cup song

They looked down on their team so much that they approved of this.

I'll take the I believe that we will win stuff over that.

LOL, isn't that one fine example of a typical sick british humor?

How do you think sports work? Do you think Indians and Pakistanis are genetically selected to be great cricket players, or maybe that societies' best athletes gravitate towards the sports that the specific society favors?

Pointing out that the us would be more capable at futbol if the country focused on it is not far fetched or bragging, it's truth. If Brazil's number one sport was baseball they'd be pretty damned good.

Obviously they'd be better. But people wanting to play football doesn't automatically make them good footballers. All I was saying.

Of course it isn't. The whole point you ignored is applying the talent pool of raw athletics from "day one" in an alternate universe where futbol is number one sport in the us.

Everyone knows it's not, and nobody us saying Lebron James could go play on Real Madrid tomorrow.

This is so not a hard concept.

His point is that football is a much more technical game than shooting some hoops 5v5.

Fuck off, m8.

USA not even the best in the world at Basketball.

It's sad that you have to explain this :)

Says a lot of American bandwagon. And I actually think US deserved a win today (but not against Ghana :))

Come on... our side (hopefully) already has Colombia, France and Netherlands or Chile... Please take Germany off our hands... please.

lol. that side is so disgustingly stacked. I can't believe Arg is practically being given the keys to the finals on a silver platter and we'll probably fuck it away.

The problem is that Ghana is likely to win if Ronaldo plays as he did today. And Germany will likely beat us. That combination will be the death of us.

Again people just assuming that having great athletes wanting to play the sport would automatically equal a world beating team.

Hopefully Germany will thump USA.

As long as USA doesn't go through I'll be satisfied.

I don't expect Germany will settle for a tie, but I also don't expect they will be throwing 110% at the US either.

I still expect they will win though, and they will do so by more than one goal.

My Prediction:

Germany 2 - 0 USA

Allan iverson is my goat us coulda been for futbol.

Wow never really thought of him like that, but that would be ridiculous. If his speed and quickness could transfer over on the pitch it would have been a sight to behold. I'm just happy that the sport is growing here. I feel like in my life time the U.S. is going to start fielding a legitimate team.

I don't know what you mean by american bandwagon like you are trying to put down US fans who are interested. Let them be interested even if they don't know a lot goddamn. People are so bitter about other nation's fans.

ding ding ding. This man gets it. The athletic prowess of a Messi or Ronaldo is on EVERY NBA team or NFL team.

I wouldn't go that far, but I think it's reasonable to think that there are a handful of elite NBA/NFL players who would also have been elite soccer players.

Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders come to mind. Both ridiculously fast and multi-sport talents.

Radio here in the States said the US needs a striker. I think they need defense and a midfielder.

Also Suarez>>>>>Renauldo.

larger talent pool obviously = higher probability that you're going to produce great players, but that's just a small part of it. plus, lots of small countries outproduce players (Argentina, for example) relative to population. many factors go into the strength of the national team.

Have Dominican ever won the world baseball classic?

I've just been through this so many times that it's depressing. People keep hoping that with good performance in a World Cup, MLS will improve, but honestly I can't see that happening. There's simply not enough time for commercial breaks in a soccer game for it to be huge in the US.

No one is really saying take LeBron James and move him to soccer and he's instantly goat. What we are saying is that if those guys played soccer their entire lives the talent pool would be far larger than it is now to choose from. Eventually some of those players would be on the same caliber as Messi, Ronaldo, etc.
