Did the same, there is a way to speed up the verification process. They will charge your card 2 small amounts and you check your bank/cc site for the amounts and plunk them into steam.

Doing that at the moment but it's somewhat dependent on how long the CC site takes to update. I suspect they're listed under 'upcoming transactions', but I don't get precise details until they're in the main page of my balance sheet.

I'm probably going to need to do some urgent trading once I figure out what I want/need.

More XP means you gain more Steam Levels. And the bigger your Steam level is, you get booster packs for the games you own more often (booster pack = 3 random cards from the same set).

There is a 30 day cooldown period from your first purchase of the year after which you can sell the cards /items in your inventory, but it's usually only worth a couple of cents (for example my highest card is like .30 cents) unless it's a super rare card/item, then it will go for a dollar on up (at the beginning of the summer sale some of the Summer Adventure cards that let you change teams were going for $40+) and the money goes into your Steam wallet.
